Okay, maybe this belongs in the "media" area, but I thought it should be posted here.

I find it amazing how this could happen. How could only one of two "identical" twins be transexual? I could speculate, but what would I know?

Jay Cee,

I love the topic, why should they be the same ? If each individual is a unique person, then no two people could ever be the same. 'Identical' twins is a misnomer, Even idential twins have differences, hight, weight, skin colors, freckles, eye color the list can go on. Just because they are 'twins' doesent mean thy are not unique. But again you should speculate, your anser is as good as mine.

Still it's a great topic thaks for sharing.

I don't know if you watched it however you should check out Red without Blue. It is about identical twins who one is transsexual. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0923870/

What an amazing situation, and I'm glad it is turning out well.

Sophora, I watched Red without Blue, a great story about a transsexual and her
gay brother. It was fairly obvious as well from early on they were both effeminate.

I also heard about another set of twins, both are MtF transsexual, one is more outgoing and started
transitioning before the other more repressed child, but it's amazing that both are on the same path now.

These types of stories highlight why there really is very little difference between
intersexuality and transsexuality, meaning that our gender identity & sexuality
orientations are predefined through other processes before we are even born.

Last I heard they think transexuality is caused by some kind of hormonal issue in the womb, so maybe genetics aren't related?

Amber, I am leaning towards the belief that both genes and hormones are somehow
responsible for sex and gender disorders from the research that I have seen so far.

There are a lot of biological processes that are not driven by the presence or absence of something, but rather by the local gradient of it (that is, how quickly the chemical concentration increases.) It is thus possible for the same genetics to have different outcomes through (for example) small differences in position.

It's an excellent story, very respectful, and for once doesn't try to trade on spectacle or controversy.

I know someone who is an identical twin, is TS and her brother is not. He did CD when younger though, so I don't know how much is really the same and how much is different.
