I was thinking today about how funny it would be to walk into work with flats on and see if anyone comments on them. And if they do keep track of how many make direct comments to me. The comment was made to me that no one really notices your shoes. I wonder how true that is.?

right out of Shawshank Redemption. No one really notices your shoes unless they're 5" stilletos. But I think it only applies to men; the ladies in the office would notice.

So true... I was standing there at work talking to a couple guys, wearing a pair of women's dress flats and all of a sudden one of the guys went running over to the railing.... The other guy looked at me and said "what's he doing?".... Told him that he heard high heels on the atrium slate floor below... Didn't you hear them? Lol.

A better way to test that theroy would be with nylons and painted toes in open toe shoes! Hugs!

Contrary to what Dufresne says in Shawshank Redemption, I always look at shoes, men's or women's... but hey, then again, I'm not your typical male either... LOL.

I never believed that he could really have got away with that. Those shoes really did stand out. I think anyone would have noticed them.

(That wasn't the only weak spot in the film. My question has always been, once Dufresne went into the tunnel in the wall, how did he get the poster stuck back up on the wall behind him?)

A couple of months ago I was doing some stuff around the house in drab, wearing a tank top and shorts, but also wearing a cute pair of sandals; which are out of my girls shoe collection. Anyway my wife was out of town, and I called a friend to see if he would like to go out and get a bite to eat for dinner. We went out to dinner and while we were eating, I looked down and saw my sandals and thought OMG. Luckily, I hadn't painted my toes and no one said anything. I told my wife about it when she returned and we laughed about it. Someone might have noticed, if my toes had been painted though.

And the end result? "He crawled through a river of s&*t and came out clean on the other side". This is what makes the movie so fascinating ... how many of us have actually had to do something like this in our lives...and how many of us are afraid to do so. I think the latter is a much higher number.

I wear womens shoes almost all the time, and no one ever seems to pay attention! Even when I wear open toe sandals to show off my bright red toenails!! Of course, as an independent insurance agent I work for myself!

The funny part won't be seeing who notices, it will be watching HR go into scramble mode to see if their policies are in compliance. :)

Lol, you are right. I work for walmart and they are always scrambling to be compliant! They claim to be an equal opportunity employer. A lot of the management has been gay or always putting out the fact that we could wear whatever we want to work and they can't do anything un unless its not in uniform parameters.

I couldn't do work, but I did go to goodwill a couple times with womens flats on while in drab. Only once did I get any attention from them. It was a woman that saw what I was wearing and made a frown at me over it. Just for giggles, I tried to walk down the isle that she was in. She moved on quickly.

Another time, while in drab and out of town, I wore a pair of heels into a convenience store. I had one woman look down as she was leaving and then stand outside the glass doors looking in for about 45 seconds. Other than that, no one noticed or did anything out of the ordinary.

Then there was the one time I wore, again in drab, a pair of heels at a family dollar. The SA (a male) started a small converstation with me about crossdressing. He didn't seemed concerned that I was a crossdresser. I was the only customer in the store. We were able to talk until another customer came in.

With these mostly positive (at least not negative) responces, I would like to do more of being only partually dressed in public.

What about painted nails (hands)? My wife is concerned someone will be uncomfortable and complain and lose my job.

If they make steel toe pumps or flats maybe I'll try it on the job site.Safety first as always.

Andy Dufresne was not the one who said "I mean afterall, who really looks at men's shoes?" It was his buddy Red, narrating the details of his escape.

The poster was attached only at the top and acted like a flap. Andy went underneath it and gravity brought it back down.

And Red is right. Men don't look at men's shoes. I certainly don't. I'm only interested in looking at women's feet.
