Hi everyone,

I ws rushed by ambulance to the ER yesterday afternoon.
Last night I went through surgery to have stones removed from my kidney. I'm in alot of pain but morphine is working to an extent.
Due to the stone blocking fluid my kidney ruptured causing some serious issues.
I'm running a temp of 102F. I keep kicking off my covers and the nurses keep putting them back on me! LOL!!
I'm in here for at least three more days according to the doctor.
I love you all and will read what all of ou have written when I fel a little better.
God bless you all and Merry Christmas. :battingeyelashes:

So sorry to hear you are in the hospital for Christmas. I hope you will recover very soon. If there is a TV in your room, at least you can watch some Christmas Movies today and stay in the spirit!

I wish you the best and a speedy recovery. Although going through a bad patch (not in hospital) I fully understand and reccamend(SP) the recovery exercises not quite to the limit and still leave yourself enough energy to still get home.

I know just how you feel. Ten years ago I was in a hospital with kidney stones and ended up having surgery to remove one two weeks later. Was too big to pass or deal with some other way. But what I want to say was, morphine didn't do one bit for my pain. I had Toradol , the first night in. Before the needle was removed, the pain was receding. Two day's later and back into the hospital and 4 shots of morphine in a hour I was ready to cut out my own kidney and hand it to them to remove the stones. Got them to check my records from the night before and low and behold I had Toradol. Five minutes later the same thing, reduced pain before she removed the needle. So ten years later I still remember Toradol. Cause the specialist that removed my jelly bean size stone through my, well man part, told me I would have to cut out the fast food, ice cream, and milk or see him again in five years. I told him to just go ahead and make a appointment, cause that an't happening.. But ten years later, I have missed that appointment, so far. Maybe dressing has something to do with it.. You think??

Best wishes, and speedy recovery, Tanya

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I had a chuckle out of the nurse story. I am a Marine and was crawling on the ER floor when I had mine. Then the nurse kept pulling up my covers in ER and I said "look lady I have nothing down there you have not seen and those covers are driving me crazy" she left me alone and pulled the curtains. I know how you feel. Good luck.

As a veteran kidney stone sufferer, I'm wishing you a speedy recovery.

I have had kidney stone issues for over 30 years. I've had them come out on their own, had them removed through an existing opening and I've I had lithotripsy on the last 2. First time I had the litho, it sucked, they didn't blast it into small enough pieces so I had massive pain and repeated trips to the ER until the remnants flushed out of my system.

The last one I had was very similar to yours. Large stone at the beginning of the ureter partially blocking the kidney. The only pain I would have would be a dull ache if the kidney was backing up after drinking too many fluids too fast. I learned to moderate my fluid intake. Had an idea it was a kidney stone, just wasn't the usual sharp pain, but scans showed it was one about 3/4 inch diameter. They lithoed that one and it came out like fine sand less than a day later.

A few words to those who may have had stones in the past. You know the pain, you know it's strong, you may have meds available to keep the pain in check, that's good (kind of). Remember, it only hurts when the stone is moving, so if the pain goes away either A: you passed the stone or B: the stone is stuck. When ever I have the pain now a days, I'll medicate, but I will also float some toilet paper in the bowl each time I go number one and aim for that to catch any possible stone. If I don't see a stone in a few days, I'll see my urologist.

My comments above should NOT be considered medical advice, they are simple my experiences and opinions on the subject. Please see your own medical professional if you think you have kidney stone problems.

Hello everyone,

I'm writing this to you from the hospital where I remain until at least tomorrow.
I have a stint placed inside my kidney and it seems to be holding it's own and allowing fluid to pass.
In a few weeks they will attempt to remove the very large stone that is currently not allowing fluid to pass.
I will let everyone know when I'm back home.

Thank you so very much for all of your kind words, it means more to me than you know. :O)

Keep your chin up girl, I know its not a good place to be, but hopefully they will get it
sorted out quickly and you can get back home again. Anyway, I am curious to know
what the symptoms were that led up to this that could be early warning signs of this
type of condition. And do you know if this could be hormone related as well similar to
the issues with the liver and gall bladder?
