Spotted this elsewhere... Very interesting article (http://www.travelandleisure.com/invoke.cfm?ObjectID=F5F67271-79BD-4380-BFB09C7A1ED19623) on the "Muxe" (moo-she) of Mexico's Oaxaca state in this month's Travel & Leisure Magazine. Muxe are family members who are CD'ers and/or gay, very artistic, and care for family elders since they do not leave home to start their own family. Each year there is a festival called "Festival of the Authentic, Intrepid Danger-Seekers," and it says that this culture is 2000 years old.

Fascinating. It is so interesting to see how a culture, be it local or much larger, defines what is 'acceptable'.

Crossdressing in India by men is a tradition that goes back thousands of years. In fact they are invited to bless new babies, weddings, and a whole host of activities. They are valued almost as Religious beings.

Cool article, Darla. Nice to see unquestioned tolerance and acceptance somewhere in the world. I think we CDers are definitely Authentic and Intrepid - although not always Danger-Seekers.

Thanks for sharing. :)
