My sister is an amazing, magnificent, wonderful woman. I have written about her many times on this forum.
About two months ago, I came out to her and told her I am transgendered. Without batting an eye lash, she accepted me unconditionally, and our bond has grown even stronger since. We have shared much, cried much, and laughed much over our two respective lives, and life in general.
My sister treats me with compassion, kindness, and love. She sees and respects the woman within me, and desires to cultivate her relationship with Anne (her big sister that she did not know she had :)).
In this vein, my sister presented me with an incredible Christmas gift. She gifted me a beautiful necklace from a jewelry designer. The necklace is a part of the designer’s “Kawong” collection. The “Kawong” pattern, as my sister explained to me, represents power and justice, and symbolizes the hope that people will always remember their origins.
My sister went on to explain to me that I am empowered through acceptance of myself, and that personal, inner justice is served when I am true to myself. By and through accepting myself, and being true to myself, I therefore shall wield the power to ever do my self justice within this life, and the life of the transgendered.
My sister went on to say that I should always remember my feminine origins, and to be loving of her and myself. Having explained all of this (she was much more articulate than my shabby attempt at quoting and recreating her words), she placed the necklace around me neck, clasp it, and gave me a big, giant hug. Which, of course, for all that know me here, caused me to cry. LOL! But during that brilliant, resplendent moment, I wept tears of profound and utter joy . . . . .
Here’s a few pictures of the necklace. Did I say that my sister is wonderful? :D
