I finally have done it, and gone very public. I am a member of a performance car enthusiast club, and I have known many of them for a good few years, well we all had our end of season night out last saturday, well during the night, I commented on many girls outfits, nice comments, like nice shoes, well one of the gg's who i was with started asking questions, and I told her the full story, well word soon got round which was cool alot of sensible questions, and no abuse, which was a huge relief. We have a weekly meet where we all drive out to a pub in the countryside, a nice quiet pub, we are not the only people there, but it always feels safe. Well all the gg's had been encouraging me to come as Sophie, which i agreed to saturday night, and being a girl of my word I wasnt going to let them down. So dressed in denim three quarter trousers, a grey/pink top, and my favourite silver strappy sandals i stepped out. They were all wonderful, the gg's favourite comment seemed to be I would kill for those legs, and even the guys were complimentary a good few questions about why, when, how long, and then the night, just rolled as normal. I had such a lovely time, it was so nice to be out just sat with friends laughing and joking, and behaving like a girl of my age would. I am afraid there are no pictures, but hopefully there might be the odd one someone sneaked on a camera phone.

That's absolutely fantastic sophie , i'm so happy for you that things went so well. I wish i could pluck up the courage to tell all my friends about julia. There's a couple that know and a few more that i think would be okay with it , but i just don't have the guts to 'fess up as of yet. maybe next year ;)
It must be a fantastic feeling to get comments from GG's about your appearance , you must be on cloud nine right about now , well done you :)

Brilliant Sophie. :cheer: Sounds like you've got some potential companions next time you want to go shopping.
And proof that often the terrible consequences we fear are only in our imagination (and I'm just as guilty of that as anyone else).

Sophie, congratulations on your honesty with your friends. It really does pay off, doesn't it? You've opened up so many wonderful opportunities now for yourself to enjoy life more liberated now that Sophie is no longer in the closet.

Yep sure am sat on that little cloud. Lots of offers for going shopping, which is great, and offers of help and advice on makeup if anything puzzles me, couldnt ask for better friends. It seems if you are honest and open, people accept that you are serious, and it genuinely means alot to you, those who havent told there friends you might be surprised how caring and understanding they are.
