here is a great link for the basics of makeup on man faces, its just 4 video run through, it helped me get started.

Go to Youtube.com and type into a search "makeup", you can spend days going through all of the videos.

I learned from a combo of the already mentioned youtube videos and coaching from my daughters.
There are many different opinions on the exact order, but here is mine.

Primer
Foundation
Eye shadow, eye liner
Brows, then macara
Finally contor and blush and set with translucent powder.
Once I have gotten dressed and have wig on, I do my lips, it keeps lipstick off my clothes and hair!

I took a trip to YouTube but there is alot of videos. Maybe it be easier for my wife to get a make up class. Thanks JessHaust, that is what I was looking for.

Hey Connya, there are books out there that help as well. Check your local library or bookstore and just search for makeup books. They can run you through the basics all the way to advanced tips.
