My outfit tonight-
August Silk top- (not silk- it’s viscose & 5% spandex, still kind of nice)- ruched t-neck, slight gather at the top- long sleeves. Kind of a steel blue/dark grey color looks like a cotton/poly jersey finish, but a finer weave.
Skirt: we have a choice- I started with this awesome skirt- Camille (la vie) sz 16- a silver finish matte metallic ruched, crinolined skirt- full length- from Group USA outlet store in Gurnee Mills mall, Gurnee, IL. 2010. It’s really more appropriato to a teenage girl- or twenty something. But, with a staid top, it still works! Contrast! I’ve worn it a few times- it’s still quite stiff- the taffeta or polyester in the crinolation- stiff- scratchy- not soft. But it’s tolerable. Until the dog wants to play…
The dog: mixed breed of working dogs, a very peculiar personality- she has very specific times she wants to play. The above mentioned skirt is not a skirt one palys with a dog in.
So I pulled out an alternate- a silver below the knee skirt from JCP- Worthington, sz 12 (same waist size in inches) no crinoline- but it is a little full, quite festive. Much more mobile- when I get on the carpet and play with our 9 year old ‘pup’. She gets tired of play soon enough, too much work ethis or something.
And I go back to the ball gown skirt…
Talk about a win-win situation!
I wish the stiff crinoline fabrics were as soft as the crinoline underskirts I used for years with a ball gown dress I altered into a wedding dress of sorts- the underskirts were so soft- hundreds of wearings over the years- dozens of washings and dryings- so soft. I don’t think the skirt I’m wearing the silver matte outer fabric- would hold up.
My only question- what kind of boots could I wear with this? Not an outfit that suggests boots- strappy heels are de rigueur. But high heeled boots- what kind of details would we need for high heeled boots to work?
