View Full Version : How much do you spend?

Diana Bain

Just curious, how much have you spent on crossdressing in the past year? Since really coming out last April I've spent over $3000 on wigs, shoes/boots, breast forms, skirts, tops and makeup. Also, many pairs of pantyhose and stockings. Just as a side note....many of the gg's I know never wear hose of any type (may'be once in a blue moon)...so do you think that crossdresser have helped keep the pantyhose and stocking manufacturers in business?

I am out for approximately a year, and the amount I spent is somewhere around €1000,- . Luckily, I am currently in a position to spend that much...

I think last year the amount of stuff I ordered was $40. I bought a pair of pantyhose this year (my only CD-related purchase this year) but I don't remember how much it costed.

To date? No clue but per year between $2,000 and $4,000... May scale back this year because were hearing rumors of no raises...

Yes... When you die... So I've heard... Though not by any dead crossdressers... Lately! :D

Hmmmm, I was sorta thinking that the other day. But I didn't do any serious calculations on it. Since I started purchasing femme things for myself I may have spend about $500 maybe. Possibly less but not more that $1000 I know that. Now this makes me want to check my purchasing records......

I'm not sure I want to know the answer, but I'd say, conservatively, that I spend about $200 to $300 per month on clothes, make up etc.

Let's call it $700 or so. Haven't needed anything major like breast forms or a wig in the last 12 months.

Not anywhere near enough. I realized how I needed to update my clothes lately and have been doing some shopping. I just bought some new shoes today at Payless.

In the last year I spent maybe $500.00! I really have to wonder why I spent that much, since I already have so many things! But you know us girls, if we see something we like we just Have to buy it!! In years past I probably spent $4,000 to $5,000 per year on feminine things for myself. Of course, I also bought many things for my late wife!

For the past year about $700 because I bought a new wig,

Ahhhhh. Did this calculation last week. In 2011, not counting make up., tights and underwear .... £7000. In my defence, this included a closing down sale in my favourite shoe shop, and discovering two new wonderful shops, one of them practically giving clothes away - but in quantity! Also there was a major sale in my absolute favourite boutique. There are now only three chains in my spending - East, Phase Eight and Debenhams (with M&S for underwear) and six independent boutiques. The boutiques not only have wonderful clothes but wonderful staff/owners who make it a complete pleasure to shop there. Most of them even give me discounts on top of sale prices. I don't regard wearing women's clothes as a problem, but the expenditure probably is - and I have run out of room. I can afford this, but it is still bonkers.

I refuse to keep track of the $$$. It's probably in the neighborhood of $750 per year NOW only because I've almost run out of slips I would buy. With over four hundred slips I don't even want to think how much they have cost me. Right now I'm trying to find and buy bras in some difficult to find colors to match some vintage slips. I just picked up a nice Just My Size jade green bra to match a vintage (1980's) J C Penny slip in jade with black lace at the bodice and hem. The combination goes extremely well with a nice knee length jade green with black accents dress. Yummy!

I just really came out to my SO, so I really don't have a true figure yet. Although in the last 2 weeks I spent about $300 and plan on spending some more :)
one thing I do to kinda help support my spending is selling things on eBay. I do a lot of thrift shopping, garage sales and try to pick up items cheap and then sell them for a profit on eBay. I just sold a Stephen King book I bought at a good will for $1.99 for $40 :) If you find the right items you can build that Paypal account up pretty quick

When I first started out I went into a buying frenzy,But it has slowed down and in the last year I prob have spent about £300 ($470) on clothes, makeup and shoes,I don't really buy designer, and my Staff Discount in store I work helps keep spending down.I don't put my family in financial peril to chase a bargain.

I've already got a pretty good wardrobe set up, but I'd still say I spend about $500/yr if you count clothes, lingere, shoes, jewelry and makeup.

It is a struggle to keep it that low, but I really can't justify more since I already own dozens and dozens of skirts, dresses, etc but sometimes I just can't help myself. :)

The funny thing is, I probably spend less than two hundred per year on 'guy' stuff. Just a few pair of pants, a new shirt or two, a few Tshirts here and there...

Usually under $200. My highest year might have been $400. (I do most of my shopping at thrift stores)
The fact is I have so much already that I really don't need to spend a lot, just enough for maintenance.

Holy schnikey! Some of these are high numbers!

That's totally great, if you can afford it - don't get me wrong, I believe in being able to spend the money you earn if everything else is in order. That's why you work, after all.

What do your spouses think about the amount you spend (if you have one?)

I'd guess I've spent between $1000 and $1500 a year for many years . It is just so exciting to unwrap a parcel of new clothes and I absolutely love putting on a new wig so can't resist buying them. I always look for bargains so I can get more for my money but I'm still very careful to buy stuff I will really enjoy wearing. Right now I am waiting for three different orders of dresses, shoes and jewellery and can't wait for them to arrive.

Yep, I have a direct deduction from my pay - 15%. It goes to a purely "me" c/c.

For the most part, I've been saving. But the last 6 months, I kinda went bonkers on eBay when I saw dresses, dresses and more dresses that seemed so cheap - if that's a nice dress, I'd better buy a spare one. Better buy one in a bigger size in case I gain weight, a smaller size if I loose weight, better grab spares in those sizes too! Wait, there's another 10% off? Better grab a third......

ooohhhhh - what have I done?

I can't think of one GG around here that wears pantyhose at all. even when it is really called for. I asked a co worker who is in her early 30's abou this and she said she has NEVER owned a pair. There was also an article that said men buy pantyhose more than women do that I read a long while back. This wasn't about CD's either. just men in general. So I would say yes, we are the ones that keep them afloat. I know the minute I get a run I replace them :)

I haven't spent that much to date on clothes, mostly shoes, but i am currently on the hunt for all kinds of things :) so I expect my spending amount to go through the roof lol

you ladies can probably thank me for the stock market rebounding, cause i've spent over $2000 in the past 2 weeks and i blame this forum! i've gained strength since recently joining and now want to venture outside. so i had to upgrade my "nasty, bad taste" wardrobe for something more mainstream to blend in. i've turned into a "shop-a-alcholic". contact me for my address to send donations...

After first coming out to my wife, we spent quite a bit getting me properly outfitted, some where in the neighborhood of $500 over 3 months (almost everything on sale or clearance, so quite a bit of stuff). In the last month or so, probably no more than $50, just maintenance items like new pantyhose and such.

I often wonder how much is spent annually worldwide on female attire by gender enhanced people. If one could stop all the spending by tg people and the porn industry on women's clothing for one year, I suspect many businesses that manufacture for 'us' would disappear forever.

As a wife, and the one who buys most of it, we have spent total about $2000 or more. Recently, we've spent about $50. Now most of this was trial and error, as unfortunately we are not the same size, and it took some time to figure out what fits correctly. Overall I'd say it's a total of $100-$200 a year most a lot of it, as others have stated, on pantyhose and nylons as they seem to expire the quickest.

I figure about 2500 is pretty close on what I spent on shoes, make up, wigs and clothes, it would be much higher I imagine if I spent retail on the clothes more, but I am in the resales a lot for most of my outfits and separates ... I guess I should also add what I pay for the tailor around 250-400, and I am very sure we help the hosiery industry, as I have a couple hundreds bucks easily still in packages stockpiled up !

To reply to Babeba, I am not married but I confess I have concealed from partners over the years how much I spend - none of my partners has been really enthusiastic about clothes though they all had nice stuff (no, I never borrowed - except in the early years - with permission). Most knew enough about clothes to know when a dress was expensive (though I buy most of these at huge discounts in sales), so I wore cheaper stuff in front of them. Spending a few thousand pounds a year on a hobby is not unusual, but there has to be an end point in terms of storage as I rarely get rid of anything - I love rediscovering old friends in the wardrobe (though it is not quite as nice as something new!). Last year the only male clothing I bought was a shirt - one of my favourite boutiques had a few and I tried them on dressed as a woman! That was a first.

Here in Scotland women wear tights a lot in winter but not much in summer. If you look at the M&S website, a LOT of the reviews of lingerie are by men - recently there was one pair of panties reviewed four times, and three of them were men. It must be close approaching the stage where men buy enough for themselves to be targeted in marketing.

My wife is fine with it as I buy her stuff too and wine & dine her. Since I'm relatively new to this I needed everything for a planned vacation (I'll be enfemme) with her which I included in my total.:)

Hi Dianacd:

Google the 1970's game show Can You Top This. The premise of the game was that people would submit a joke or a punch line and a panel of mostly
comedians would try to top it.The ever-smiling Wink Martindale was the host and the Morey Amsterdam-Red Buttons led panel tried miserably to make
Americans forget the tumult of the 1960's.They did not. The show was horrible. With that said, I think I can top your mere pittance of 3000 dollars
for the year. For Dana it takes tons of makeup, a slew of pantyhose, volumes of wigs and enumerable dresses, slips, brestforms, girdles, heels,
leggings, panties, pads, bras and perfumes to erase the stain of masculinity from these bones......I would guess I spend, at least, $78,000 a week.

Beauty has no cost...dana...lol.....but whose counting?

I have not kept track of specific amounts but in the past year, probably not a whole lot. The biggest outlay was when I first started and had to purchase everything; wigs, clothing, etc. Maybe a couple of hundred dollars. Now I have enough to get by so I just pick up the occasional outfit but most all of my shopping is done when I can take advantage of sales and coupons.
Now if you add in grooming and maintenance expenses it adds a bit to it. Waxings, mani-pedis, hairstyling, etc. can be pricy but it just goes with the territory.

Easily spend $2000/ year. Mostly shoes! And this year I need a new wig and new breast forms sigh. Trying to figure out a way to afford some laser treatment. I just wish there was a way to make money on this rather than just spend it lol!

I might have spent less than $50 last year. All I remember buying were two pairs of pantyhose. Unfortunately my financial situation does not allow me to buy anything at this time. I saw some dresses in recent Woman Within and Romans catalogs that I would have liked but can't afford right now. I'm not even sure when I can buy anything again.

Way too,(much),that is.But at least my wardrobe is mostly finished. However,I need some hip and tush enhancement badly,as what I have now doesn't work quite right.I'll never look like a million bucks, but I have spent a jillon nickels.Love that polished professional look and have to either buy two suits or from separates in suiting sections because top and bottom sizes work out that way for me and only tall sizes work for jackets, etc. The jackets and skirts that I cant use go to some GG clerks at stores where I shop most.

Just curious, how much have you spent on crossdressing in the past year?

I actually interpreted this a different way then everyone else and I am surprised I didn't see one person mention it. How about expenses on mani/pedis? Or trips like SCC, Be-All, and Diva Las Vegas. How much have you spent on meals and movies that wouldn't have happened if you weren't dressed (this is a tough one because I believe I would have done them all anyway)? Wigs, forms, pads, adhesives, epilators ......

I have no idea on my amount. Throwing a dart, I have to say around 2K.

What do your spouses think about the amount you spend (if you have one?)

I think mine enjoys it. Since she has been going shopping with Sue, she has been buying more clothes and spending more time shopping for them. We just love going together. And I do believe she out spends me most of the time. But that is as it should be since she is dressed in them a bit more than me.

So far this year about 250 in one month. This is with all the dresses, skirts, makeup, etc. I'm thinking I'm pretty much have a good size closet and winter femme collection now. Of course there's spring styles and shopping around the corner ;)
