It was awesome and it made my day. I work 3rd shift as a stock clerk for a major retail company. Here is the kicker...i wasnt even en femme...just a kin of androg. look (straightned hair, eyeliner, black nail polish) the customer quickly realized her mistake as soon as I spoke with a male voice...and appoligized. Little did she know...she totally made my day:)

You should have thanked her and told her that she made your day. I think that whenever someone pays you a compliment or says something that makes you feel good, you should acknowledge it.

On the other hand, when I first started going out (10 years ago), I was in full dress and called sir by a store clerk (female) at K-Mart. What a bummer. It sure didn't do anything for my confidence but things have worked better since.
