My stepson was very happy tonight, celebrated his 15th birthday and was dressed as his female side Katie. Was my husband,my step daughter's Nikki and Cassie and myself.First gift was a pair of hoop earrings my step daughters got for him and loved them after trying them on,Katie's ears are pieced.I did get Katie her first two pair of heels, both black and loved them.My husband was even kind too,got her a gift card from a girl's clothing store and looks like we are going to do some shopping.Story behind my step son wanting to crossdress was he felt there was a female side of him that wanted out.Basically came out to my husband and I about it.Luckily my husband and I were supportive him trying something new in his life on the spot and we see Katie very happy now.Katie has every down pat,my step daughters taught him how to apply make up I taught her putting on pantyhose.Katie knows,my husband, step daughters and I love her.

Candice, all I can say is thank you, and your husband, and SIL for being so considerate! This must have meant the world to Katie. This makes me so happy to see how good you are to her, especially at her age. :)
Hugs,Janice.

wow, this is truly amazing how supportive you are, well the whole family. It must be a great feeling for him not to have to sneak around and feel like hes doing wrong. I applaud all of you :) and I'm happy he had a great birthday. If my family knew i crossdressed i know that my dad and oldest brother wouldn't care aslong as I'm happy, whereas my mum and other brother would be disgusted and disown me. x Glad the whole family had fun and many more years to come =)

Your entire family deserves a good deal of credit for the love and support that was given to "Katie" on her coming out and of the acceptance she has received. This example of love and support should stand as a guide to ALL PARENTS when this or equivalent situation presents itself.
Cudos to you all!!!!!!

Candica,
I am so proud of you and your family for what you are doing for Katie as I know first hand what it means at a very young age to have help and support from family.
My mother was my teacher and she always told me to be a proper lady at all times, now a little old fashion at our time as she wouldn't let me wear heels until I was 16 and PH were not invented yet good old girdle and stockings. Please be good to her as life can get nasty at times.

I commend you in your support of Katie, This is a very difficult time for a child of that age. You stepson will need alot of caring and loving support over the next few years. I wish you all the best.

It's all so very wonderful the love and support you are all showing. I've been following your posts and also notice your first ones Katie was referred to as he. Now you use mainly she. You are a wonderfully accepting person.

Kudos to you and your family for having the foresight to know what Katie needs at this moment in time. She will now have a safe haven and support group like no other as she develops over the years. That cannot be replaced or duplicated. Thank you.

I cannot imagine as a teen feeling safe enough to express one's female side. It's a testament to what must be a longstanding atmosphere of unconditional love in this household. Congratulations.

This is a wonderful story about just accepting and loving others for who they are and not being judgemental because we are different. I think your family is very special. Keep on loving eachother.

I's so nice to hear about a true loving family. Most of us are lucky to have accepting people in our lives. I hope to see more mature and loving families like yours!

What a great family you have! In some of the country, the schools are finally getting tuned into the "transgender youth" concept. It is really taking off in the Boston area schools. Hopefully, your future stepdaughter can be herself and be accepted that way by friends. All the best for her.

Dear Candice,
Talk about turning out a well adjusted child!
I can remember at that age the extreme fear of getting caught (which I did but that's another story) and trying to enjoy how I felt but always having one ear to the apartment door waiting for my mom to walk in.
If there was some award on parenting for what you are doing for Katie, your family would have a wall filled with them!

That's wonderful that she has such a supporting and loving family. :)
It was even my SIL Michelle and her husband too,got Katie a strawberry Blonde wig just past the shoulder. My SIL and her husband are even supportive.
Sorry this struck me as odd. I can see being supportive and taking someone to try on wigs and maybe buying one.Maybe.
Its a very personal thing buying a wig and I cannot see a Sisterinlaw and husband showing up to a birthday with a wig for a 15 yr old.
AND at 15 he must have his own hair right?
Sorry this and other posts to me just sounds to me like Fantasy.

Awe . . .well done and you are making me major jealous! LOL
Teenaged TG's are extremly prone to severe depression, and most of it is not necessarily just the fact that they are TG - it's the fact that they have no one to talk to and confide in. You have no idea how much pain you are saving him/her from just by being someone he can talk to and share with.

wow, katie is very lucky! we all know how hard it is coming out to anyone, and how long you think about it before you do, years! I guess moms are the hardest, and after much deep contemplation and stress, I came out to mine about 20 yrs ago. after a rollercoaster of emotions (shock, disappointment, even some anger) know what she says? "I always kinda knew"! what??? you mean I went thru all that, and you already knew? I can laugh about it now! she has been supportive, but me in a dress and heels is FAR from her fave subject! but I was lucky too.
