How many bras do you have?

While I was posting at another thread concerning whether the poster felt guilty about having more femme articles than the wife, I recalled a tidbit in the March issue of Good Housekeeping. The results of a survey indicated on average a woman has NINE bras. Because I received three bras in the same style from eBay this week I need to rearrange my storage box of bras. I was wondering how many bras I have. I know I have many more than my wife. I also know I have many colors she does not have. This week I received a black, mint green and teal.

How many bras do you have?

I'll amend this post later after I do my personal count!


I rearranged my bra storage box. I found twenty three regular bras and five long line bras:
White (6), black (6), red (2), pink (2), blue (1), teal (2), ivory (2), beige (1), minty green (1), brown (1)
White long line (3) and black (2)

I have 9, it took a little of shopping around to find the best size and fit for me. On a day to day basis I only wear 4 of them the rest of them are for different outfits or I bought them before I knew my size and fit. And of course, how many times do you wear a bra before you wash it?

I had four but now three since I lost a bag with my cding gear.
I was coming back from an out of town job in which I was had my own hotel room etc so I brought along some things including sadly my expensive soft forms(sob). When I returned home I was rushing to another appointment and quickly unpacked my car, the bag in question must have fell off of my little cart on the way through the court yard to my apartment.
Anyway, I did not notice until later that night when I wanted to relax and put on my night gown and forms etc to go to bed. Then DRAMA!! looking for bag everywhere calling hotels looking in the courtyard.
A big mistake, and a rare mistake, by this girl cost me my $$$ forms and three pairs of panties two of them were expensive and a decent soft bali bra that I liked and some perfume. Anyway I do not mean to go on and on. Who else will understand but you girls.

I am going to buy another Bra later. I like the wire free ones because I like to sleep in them.

I don't need to go count them. I have five, two of which I actually wear regularly. The others were experiments that didn't quite work out but I haven't discarded because they are almost new. :)

Considering that I go out once or twice a week at most, this seems a reasonable number. :)

I'm guessing I have 40 bras. I wear sports bras for working out, and bras with no padding or projection when I underdress. If I'm getting into full feminine attire, I need either a 38A or 38B depending on which size breast forms I'm using. Then there are the strapless bras for wear with my three bare-shoulder wedding gowns, the bras with criss-cross straps that I need for certain cocktail dresses, the maternity bras for when I'm affecting the pregnant look, etc.

It adds up quickly to a lot of bras.

The average woman has 9? Well, the average woman has ONE size breasts! Since I have about 6 sizes of forms I commonly use, that would mean about 54 bras? Hmmm. Counting my sports bras, I MUST have more than that! Altho, I have my favorite dozen or so that get worn most often.

While I have close to 60 pairs of panties, I have only 3 bras. Two are lightly padded a-cups and one is an "increase 2 cup" sizes. As you can see I am still in the experimentation stages with bras. I love bras but am not too comfortable wearing in public much yet, so I have spent my $ on panties that I wear almost everyday. As I am becoming more comfortable with wearing bras, I will probably buy some more. In fact, I hope to do some shopping tonight or tomorrow and pick up at least 1 new bra. I am thinking an a or b cup with a little bit of pushup. Kind of between what I have now.

Regular underwire, no underwire, padded, 5-way, strapless, sports bras, and various bodysuits with the built-in bra (as opposed to the WYOB models they have now, with no bra). Well over 100 pairs of panties, although I've never counted those either. Maybe over 200. =). I used to keep a couple of pairs of male underwear around, but I seem to have misplaced them recently. I must have over 40, but some I've grown out of as I realized I needed a larger band size. I started with 38B and have worked my way up to 44B, finding along that way that larger (which in theory ought to be too big in the cups) fits just as well or better because they are properly sewn to take advantage of what I have. Of course many on the rack are too voluminous, but I don't buy those. I do look at ads and speculate about whether a particular style would fit me or be too much; I buy multiple copies (as many as 5) of those that suit me so I haven't had to go bra shopping for a while. I guess I have about 20 that are in active use.

Don't you love the feel of a properly-fitting bra?
