I want to keep my legs smooth this summer. I am not hairy at all but I wonder how people will react to my smooth legs.. Anyone else had this experience??

When people noticed I shaved my legs and asked why I simply told them I hate hair. Most of all I never had a bad out come from it. Good Luck.

There are countless products aimed at males to remove body hair. Nobody really cares and millions of men remove their body hair everyday, yet this is always an issue on these forums. =p

Every once in a while someone may notice or say something. When questioned I tell them "yes, it's bikini time gotta be smooth!" In a very low overly macho voice. In all seriousness it gets easier over time to tell people you shave I do it now without any 2nd thought or excuses.

mostly, they won't react, even if they notice. Like you, I'm not particularly hairy and I have kept my legs shaved for a more than a decade now. No one ever mentions it.

Shaved mine this time last year and have not stopped. No one has once commented.

I'm caught off guard with the freakishly hot weather right now. Out of necessity I have worn shorts outside with my hairless legs exposed and nobody said anything, yet. People do look, but in a "your fly's undone" kind of way. They don't want to be caught looking.

I can't wait to have someone ask me about it so I can bashfully place my pinky finger on my bottom lip and reply in my most flamboyant voice "I was so hoping you would notice!" then chuckle and tell them I just like it that way. Hair is gross and makes me look old, it also makes it hard to apply sunblock without slopping on the whole damn bottle. None of this is a lie so it's easy to say. I'm surprised that most regular guys are too stuck in the macho man mode to recognize this truth and leave leg hairs in place. YUCKY and impractical.

If you are a cyclist, as I am, it's a good excuse if you need one. No one ever commented back when I did shave my legs. However, since I stopped competitive cycling, harder to use that with my SO, who does not know of my dressing. So no bare legs for me, but I agree with others here that few if any will even notice, much less care.

I don't cycle hard-core anymore, but I am planning to get back into my mountain bike and try "mud runs"....So, I'm using keeping my legs shaved as a motivator to get in good enough shape to justify telling people that "I ride, so I like to keep them shaved"......

...a head-game to be sure, but between that and my Nike+ app on my iPod, I'm hoping for good results :)

Also....even if you're not a competitive cyclist anymore....road rash is still a concern (especially in groups with inexperienced cyclist) so, you probably should consider keeping your legs shaved.

My solution to make sure that people don't notice my shaved legs is to wear denim skirts instead of shorts and wear sandals with painted toenails. After they see those items they are not going to notice if my legs are shaved! :D

Sweetie,

"People" won't react at all. They haven't a clue who you are or what the normal state of hair on your legs is. The ones who will notice will be your wife, your kids (maybe), your parents (maybe), those close to you.

The only answer needed to those so impolite to ask is, "I like it that way."

Seriously, do you ask a women why she DOESN'T shave her legs? No, you do not. Why? Because it's a horribly impolite question. It's just as impolite to ask a man why he DOES shave his legs. It's a personal grooming question and in this society we DON'T ask questions about other people's personal grooming habits.

Anyone who asks such a question is a social idiot and deserves a slap up side da head. You, as a polite member of society, would never do this, of course. But you could reply that it's just none of their business. Or, as I said before, a simple statement that you like it that way should suffice.

Honestly, male grooming has changed a great deal in this regard over the past few years. The NO-NO hair removal system ads on TV show a man removing his chest hair with their device. Relax already about your legs. It's OK to go hairless.

I know that I already commented, but I just left Starbucks and the man in front of me had on shorts and had shaved legs. I was most likely the only one to notice, and he did what we all should, just went about his business like nothing was amiss, and nothing was!

Like all of the previous commentators, been shaving for some time now and no one notices... Told the bioreplacements that I stood too close to the camp fire and the hair doesn't grow back anymore.... Other than that, no one seems to care. But I do. Love it smooth...

Nobody notices mine and I don't think they care.
I only get comments about shapely legs, that takes the focus away from the lack of hair.
I do not need to shave my legs. I wish that was the case with other parts of my anatomy.

There are some that do notice, last summer I shaved my, first day, wife came in and saw them, and worried all summer some one might notice, she was the only one that did! But then it's cold here most of the summer, and I don't get to wear shorts all that often.

I went smooth 7 years ago and no one said a thing.
Not even close friends ... and that's where I expected a reaction. Now hairless all over since then I love it and won't go back. I particularly love the way my legs look smooth and tanned in a pair of cute shorts or a summer skirt.

For what it's worth, body shaving for men is no big deal now.

I use to have these paranoias about shaving and thinking what would everyone think? Seriously, you might get a glance or two, but no one cares. It's quite common now to see guys that shave some or all parts of their bodies. Just recently, I took my kids to the town recreation center to go swimming. I've been shaving my whole body for a few months and wondered if I would be viewed as a freak. I was surprised when I went to the "family" swim and noticed just how many dads have shaved chest hair. At least 60% of them. And at lease 20% had shaved legs too! No one even batted an eye at me. Well, maybe a wink or two...but seriously...it was no big deal. Girls....guys shave...welcome to the new millennium.

You can also get this vibe if you browse your local Walmart store and notice just how many body shaving razors there are for men these days. Ironically, I had more of a selection for body shavers in the mens section than I did in the womens section. As for me having a hangup using a mens product to look more feminine....pfft....no big deal....a blue razor works just as well as a pink one, but shhhh.....don't tell the girls....they'll get upset :)

I even shave my pubes off....which I thought was really odd. I'm surprised that the smoothie look is also popular for guys these days. OK, not popular as in the majority do it, but if you do (like I do), no one really cares. Be strong....be yourself...don't have a hangup about shaving if it's what you want to do. It's more common than you think.

As for the husbands with un-approving spouses, I say just do it. My wife use to give me grief when I started shaving my arm pits years ago. Just point to all the sexy men magazines (or your favorite porn video) and say, "I want to look like that!" :-P

Your wife will notice immediately and kick off. Most other people don't notice, or they do and don't say anything. To those who do be positive... 'have you never tried this? It is so much more comfortable! Sell the idea. When they try it and don't like it... 'I guess it's not for you'... You win!

I would find it so hard to go back to not shaving... but then I am clean all over... have been for nearly 10 years!

personally I hate to see a guy with shaved body parts - I am totally fine with my husband's CD'ing but I hate him shaving his legs - it totally repulses me!

however, if you're not married/in a relationship or your OH is fine with it, no problem - but I know there are other SO's that also dislike the leg shaving so if you do have an SO it might be better to see what she thinks first

Why does hairless legs repulse you? Some guys just don't like the feeling of hair on their legs. I suggest that you try not shaving your legs for many months and see if you like the feeling of having hairy legs. After having shaved legs, I don't understand how anyone could go back to having hairy legs - it just feels awful.

I was worried too- but all my neighbors know i'm sort of a bicycling nut- so i have the perfect excuse! it's been warm here these last few weeks- so i've been cycling lots- did two metric centuries already- the legs appreciate it- nice toned muscles!

Therefore, i suggest every CD take up cycling- if not for a plausible excuse for shaving legs- for health too!

After having shaved legs, I don't understand how anyone could go back to having hairy legs - it just feels awful.

Whether some guys do not like the feeling of hair on their legs is not the point. Instead, we all have been socially conditioned by socieity to equate the shaving of legs to be a distinctly feminine activity, whereas hair on a man has traditionally represented his masculinity and virility. If you strip a man's body hair, a portion of his masculinity is thereby stripped away with it, as well. Particularly when men shave their legs.

A GG, however, who has predefined notions of what a man should be and look like (just as men have predefined notions of how women should present themselves), has every right to seek out as a partner those men that fall within the criteria that she has developed through a lifetime of socialization, if she so desires. Unfortunately for men who shave their legs (disclosure - I shave my legs), we are at odds with the tradititional, stereotypical, socially conforming and accepted male who plays by the rules and retains his manly man hairy legs. For preferring men with hairy legs, as opposed to shaved legs, a GG cannot be faulted for her taste and preference. She is very much not alone in this. It really is no different than men who expect women to maintain shaved legs. There are a few who do not, and men are equally as put off by that as women are by men that shave. The times have gotten better, though, and progress has been made. Slowly but surely men are gaining the social "right" to remove certain body hair under certain circumstances. But regardless, if you shave your legs in today's day and age, do not expect everyone to approve of and like it. Instead, take personal satisfaction, joy, and pride in it that you hve successfully overcome your fear, are successfully cutting against the grain of society, and doing it your way. :)

When people noticed I shaved my legs and asked why I simply told them I hate hair. Most of all I never had a bad out come from it. Good Luck.

That's how I got "it" past my SO; "I hate that damn hair (as I handpicked hundreds/thousands of 'God-for-sak'en' hairs :D )!" And, it worked, too; and so here I am, hairless everywhere but my pubic area.

Love it! Do it, you'll never go back, I can personally attest to that!

Anne has pretty much answered this question for me - however I will explain a little further what it means to me personally

My husband only dresses maximum a couple of times a week and he has no desire to go outside dressed - he says he doesnt want to "shove it in my face" and that he wants me to tell him if there is anything I am not happy about. I am pretty much fine with everything except any body hair shaving - if his legs were naturally hair-free, that would be no problem - I dont especially like or dislike hairy legs but the act of shaving them expressly for the benefit of CD'ing is distasteful to me and it most certainly IS bringing it into the bedroom. It's a permanent reminder of the Cd'ing which, to be perfectly honest, I dont really want to have in front of me 24/7. So its not about the hair in its own right but rather the reason behind the shaving it off that offends me.

And no, I dont like leg hairs on my own legs - but that is probably because I have been brainwashed since early childhood that hair on a woman is not feminine

I'd just like to add - Anne, your post is very intuitive - you totally get where I'm coming from

I started to shave my legs last fall but it was just too cumbersome trying to do it in the bathroom instead of the shower (there's a lot of bending and reaching to cover every inch).

My SO is presently redoing our master bathroom, ripping out the separate tub and shower and installing an enlarged shower WITH A SEAT. She asked me about putting in the seat and I replied "if you want a seat in the shower, you shall have a seat in the shower". Installing the seat today is pretty cheap... doing it later won't be. And I'll get to use it too ;-)

I just can't wait until the job is done. The tile guy should finish tomorrow, and hopefully the glass guys can do their part on Monday. I may do some temporary PVC shower rods in the interim.

That's why I hate the summer.

At least in the winter, if I don't shave for a few days no one notices due to stockings or tights, but in the summer, it's just one more regular maintenance task that I have to perform.

Sometimes I think that people who dress as a fetish are luckier; they probably see all the maintenance as erotic, instead of just an onging chore.

Sandra1746

I'll echo the majority of the others here and observe that nobody likely notices whether your legs are shaved or not. Those that do notice are also not likely to say anything either.

I started shaving last summer partly for comfort and partly because it just felt good. I plan to continue it as a regular part of "grooming" and I plan to wear shorts this summer too.

You only get one turn here at life, enjoy it.

Hugs,

After some issues about 12 years ago, I have not had to shave my legs since - or at least from the knees down. I wear compression stockings while working (and am supposed to even when I'm not!), and the handle removal of hair nicely. Hmmmm.... Wonder if I can find some for my face?!?!?

At first it hurt when they pulled the hair, but after a year or so, there was no hair to pull, and it doesn't seem to grow back anymore. The upper legs still require the occasional shave, but it isn't a huge thing. And the vote from the wife is that it is pretty nice.

I used to only shave in the winter but have been smooth year round for a few years and have gotten no negative remarks or indications. I too wear shorts more often with smooth tan legs than i ever did with manly legs. I do get compliments on my legs which just makes it so much easier to be who I feel I should be!
