Facebook can be fun, I use mine to follow various artists and to link to music and fashion that I enjoy but four people from here have been kind enough to accept my friend request and they post many interesting comments to their wall.

I have an account for Zelda Rose on Facebook, under that name. And I have one under my male ID, too. One way someone could link the two is if you both share friends. Another is if you share likes.

You might want to check your fb security settings. I think they might be too tight, there is no friend button on your profile.

I just went through and attempted to friend everyone I could in this thread. I automatically assumed you wanted to be friended if you provided a name. That said, it is better to provide a link to your profile if you want to be found. Many of the names provided here yielded no hits or too many hits. Using the same or similar profile pic helps too. Just sayin...

Okay, this thread has inspired me... I just created an account for Sarah. I'm not very active on my main, so I don't know how active I'll be on this one, but at least with this, there will be a thread of commonality whereas the other was mainly because friends wanted more people for their games (which I did play but had long since gotten bored with).

Facebook and Google are trying really hard to link all our computing and online activities, so you have to take steps like this if you need to keep your gender identities separate. And even then, you have to be careful about your profile content, avoiding dual interests, friends, etc.

Nope! I suspect one could easily be outed, even if it is unintentional. In my county, Facebook, decided to send one of those little notes to a woman saying maybe you want to be friends with another woman. It turned out the guy had two wives, and, Facebook connected them. Since he is a law enforcement person he has been charged with bigamy and canned from his job. However, I really admire those of you who have posted pictures on this site, Flickr, etc.

I have two facebook accounts, one for my male persona and one for my female persona. I make sure that nothing crosses between the two accounts. I use the female account to talk to friends who are mainly cd's. The male account is for my family.
My favorite thing to do is make comments to questions asked everyday by various television news stations. I seem to pass quite well as a female there and get some sort of validation. It is especially a good feeling when the questions concern the communities I live in and I comment and nobody realizes who I really am.

I have two accounts. It is a tough call as many value their security. On a computer you can use two different browsers and even go into private mode to prevent sharing of friends. On my Android, I use the Facebook app for him and FriendCaster for Sue and there is no crossover. On my iPad I use the Facebook app and MyPad with no crossover. If anything, I need less devices. :D

The only time I started to have crossover was when I got a new phone. I saw my niece and daughter listed far down on the suggested friends for Sue. After digging around I discovered I had made a configuration error and was syncing all of my address books from Yahoo and GMail. One fix and the suggestions went away.

A lot depends on how much detail is similar, or even the same. If you've used the same phone number for example. The other possibility is if you have a common friend, both accounts become linked that way and you might get asked if you want to add 'yourself'.

For those concerned over FB asking for a phone number, just hit the X and carry on as normal, you do not have to give one. If you are ever 'forced' to enter details, and really do not want to give your real info, enter the number of the local Police Station. It's what I did on one site, and I knew I would remember it too.

I have accounts in both names, and both have real pictures. Can't say I'm too worried about who sees.
