It all started Friday, October 28th. I took the day off from work to make sure we had plenty of time to finish packing and I HAD to get my nails done! HTGurl and I had reservations in Las Vegas for four nights and five days. This trip had been planned for months. Lingerie? Check! Makeup bag? Check! Plenty of pretty clothes? Check! Breast forms and other essential foundation items? Check! Computer? Check! Camera? Check! Cell Phone? Check! Credit cards & cash? Check! And it only took four bags to pack it all away.

Now off to the mall for some last minutes shopping! Girl jeans and a blouse and I’m out the door. Pick up a new bra. Look for a black velvet skirt… none to be found. I don’t dare buy anything else… HT would kill me! I picked up HTGurl from work and we had a bite to eat at Olive Garden… so nice! HT had to go back to work and I still had to get my nails done.

They were ready for me at the salon. First the old acrylics were soaked off. The solvent felt so cold! It took almost ½ hour but they finally let loose! Then it was on to the spa chair for nice long soak of my feet in the swirling waters and the soothing relaxation of the vibrators in the chair as I sat there in total comfort and peace. All too soon, the technician took my feet out of the water and began to rub and massage them… bliss! She treated the cuticles on my toes and trimmed them and the nails. She also treated the calluses on my feet. As she began to weave the paper between my toes, I knew what was next… beautiful color for my toes! I had selected a bright red (nothing subtle this time) to go with my costume the following Monday. After she finished the red, she grabbed some more stuff and freehanded three pretty little flowers on each of my big toenails and added just a bit of gold glitter to give them a special shine.

Next stop was the waxing station where I got my brows waxed for the very first time! This is the nicest my brows have EVER looked! She removed all the “undergrowth” from the eyelids and gave them a bit a shape. It hardly hurt at all. You can be sure I will do this again.

Now back to the nail station where Helen attached new tips to all ten fingers. “How long do you want them,” she asked? “A half an inch beyond my fingertips,” I replied. So she did! She skillfully applied the acrylic over my nail bed and the newly trimmed tips. She shaped and smoothed everything out and finally my nails were ready for polish… the same bright red as my toes. After she finished with the red, she surprised me by tipping all ten fingers with gold polish. Then to finish it all off, she applied a fine line of gold glitter where the gold and the red met on each and every nail. They looked oh, so pretty and I felt oh, so girlie! I thanked them all and hurried home, as HT was already off work and was home, waiting for me.

Well, it was threeish before we finally left the house, but we were finally on our way! Usually the Friday traffic heading to Las Vegas is already building up but, so far, traffic is light. Could this be a sign of things to come (I hope)? As we merge onto I15, north traffic is still light… this is good! However as we reach the summit of Cajon Pass, things grind to a halt. “Now what!?” I cry out. We turn on the radio to the station that gives traffic reports every six minutes and soon discover that an RV has overturned and blocked multiple lanes of the freeway ahead. Luckily for us, the accident was not too far ahead and within 30 minutes we were past it and the road was wide open. Somewhere between Victorville and Barstow, I wanted my wig, so HT got it out of the bag and fit it onto my head as I continued to drive north. I’m getting into full girl mode now. In Barstow we had to make a “comfort” stop. It’s starting to get dark at this point. I stayed in the car and put on a bit of lipstick while HT went inside. When she came back out, she had a soda for each of us. She’s so sweet! Back onto the I15, north… a couple of girls off to Vegas for a fun weekend. We made it as far as Baker before we had to stop again. While HT is inside, I fuss with my hair and makeup in the car. Where is she? I want to get going! Finally back on the highway again! The traffic is light and Rod Stewart’s, “Great American Songbook” CD is playing. In less than an hour, from the eastern side of The Summit, we see the unmistakable lights of state line… Nevada is minutes away! The car seems more anxious than I am, as I struggle to hold it back during that last, long downhill straightway leaving California and entering Nevada. Primm, Nevada rushes past us as we set our sights eastward towards the light of the pyramid, the Luxor. One more comfort stop in Jean, Nevada. Again I wait in the car and watch people as they enter and leave “The Gold Strike,” a small hotel/casino between state line and Las Vegas. Although I love to people watch, I’m anxious to get going. Soon HT’s back and were on our way once more. Now it’s my turn to interrupt our trip one last time. If I’m going to walk into our hotel in full girl mode, I need to put on a bra and my breast forms. We look for a deserted place and find a sales office for a new housing tract that has a parking lot with no lights. We pull in. Off comes my blouse. On go my bra and breast forms and finally my blouse once more. Finally we’re back on I15 north, just minutes away from the fabulous Las Vegas strip and our hotel, the Sahara. On the way, we call Amy at the Glamour Boutique. It’s too late to keep our dinner date (almost 9PM) so we make one for Saturday night. About five minutes later we pull into the Sahara. A nice young man helps Holly and HT with our bags and after we check into our room, he brings them to our room.

Quickly we hang our clothes and put away our hose, panties, bras and other items in the dresser. We change clothes and HT helps me freshen my makeup and we’re off to the coffee shop for a well-deserved bite to eat. The staff at the coffee shop, in fact the entire staff of the hotel treated us well and with respect during our entire stay. After we eat (we share a sandwich) it’s on to the casino floor where we spend the next several hours playing Keno and other adult games. Nobody pays me a second look. Before we know it, it’s 4AM Saturday morning! We head for our room. Day one of Holly’s Hollyween weekend is over. Off come the wig and the makeup… always a bittersweet moment. But tomorrow is another day and it’s a Holly Day. HT and I put on our night gowns and snuggle for a few minutes before drifting off to one of the most peaceful rests I’ve experienced in quite a while.

Coming soon… a reunion with old friends, a meeting of new friends, a trip to the jewelry store, three girls out for dinner, shopping at Walmart, ear piercing, riding the monorail, showtime, and more! Oh, and of course, pictures!

I've been looking forward to this post all week, Holly!
I suppose we'll have to wait a lil longer for the rest,
and the pix, but that's OK.
It sounds as though the first day must have been a great thrill. I'm so happy that you were able to put together such a fun trip. You two certainly deserve it.
Hugs,
Tammi
