I have an appointment at Callen - Lorde Community Health Center which I heard has a good program for transgendered and transsexuals. I am meeting with a primary care doctor about my situation and about HRT.

Is any one here familiar with the doctors and the facility and their care for transgendered.

I am excited to finally find a place where I can open up and talk to a doctor.

Can't say I have ever heard of the doctors you mentioned. I don't live near you either. It would appear they have some experience with TG/TS, so that is good. Go in with an open mind and give them the best most honest answers you can to any questions they may have. See where it leads you.

Emmi,

Whereas I am not familiar with the doctor's in which you speak I am however very happy that you have found a place in which to speak to a qualified professional.

Callen Lorde is an -excellent- place for trans-care. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and respectful.
They even have their own pharmacy. If you qualify, they offer deep discounts on meds.

Don't worry...You're in good hands there. :)

C-L is very highly regarded in the LGBT health world- right up there with Fenway in Boston and Lyon-Martin in San Francisco. I met one of the doctors from C-L a few months back and was impressed. Let us know how it goes

Yes Callen-Lorde is a great place for transgendered individuals. I felt very comfortable and I had a female doctor who was very helpful and supportive. It is a great resource and it is entrnched in the LGBT community. I will be seeing my doctor and seeking HRT with Callen-Lorde. I am so happy I found out about the health clinic.
