Well, that little evil devil that sits on my left shoulder has won! He has convinced me that I should fly home pretty from Houston, tomorrow. Daym, that concept is pretty daunting and scary!

I think I am telling all of you because it is kinda like taking a shot of internet courage.

Wish me luck.

Robyn

Congratulations to you. Just don't wear a really long skirt or dress, or steel boned waist control garments. The long dresses tend to get you patted down or scanned and the steel boning causes the metal detector to sound an alarm and you get scanned or patted down, which happened to me on the out going flight the first time I flew en femme. Oh, and don't forget to follow all the other rules about liquids and stuff in the trays, along with your laptop in a separate tray. Other than that, enjoy the trip and talk with the person in the seat next to you. You will be amazed at the great conversations you can have that sometimes make the trip as much fun as the destination. Good luck.

PS: You need to post again after you have accomplished this mission not so impossible. That way we can properly welcome you to the Fly En Femme Club.

Allie,

Thanks for the suggestions. I have decided I will wear my white capris, with a tie-dyed top and my wedge sandal. I am looking forward to the trip being uneventful. I tend to try to lay low when I am out enfemme, but I will give it a try, talking to the person next to me. What is the worst they can do to me?? :D

I know this will be difficult for you, as it was for me my first time, but try to remain calm. (Wear extra deodorant :) ) Chat with the TSA folks in a calm manner. They are your friends. They are there to protect you. A while ago, I wrote started a thread about how flying en femme is about as safe an environment as there can be as the whole point of the system is to protect you from harm.

Don't try anything foolish trying to disguise yourself as being male. Answer any questions politely. If you are questioned about your appearance, simply say that you are transgendered and that you have not transitioned yet. Therefore your picture ID still looks male. (This is true even if you never plan on transitioning BTW.)

If you haven't seen this yet, the TSA recently posted this information about transgendered travelers. the most important thing is they recognize that we travel "Pretty" and they don't say we can't. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/transgender.shtm

Enjoy,

Leann

BTW, I have had long talks with the person sitting next to me in the waiting area and in the plane. My only fear is sitting next to a little kid who seem to be able to read us better than adults.

Leann,

Thanks for the TSA link. I had not seen that before. Definitely makes me a bit more comfortable.
