48 hours ago I took my first dose of HRT medications and let me tell you I have enjoyed every minute of it. I know that I have not had time to get the full effects of it because I haven't had it in my system very much but I must say that I have been much more focused, much more active, smiling a lot more, much more productive and just enjoying life.

I would assume that the feeling I have is due to the fact I have finally took a major step in overcoming this curse of not being born who I really am and knowing that my body will someday be on the outside what it is on the inside.

Just had to share with you all the happy thoughts and I will keep you informed of any changes.

So other than what I've experienced already what should I expect next?

Jeri

I passed my 3 month HRT anniversary this week. It only gets better with time. :)

I've been on hormones for about 16 months and was just thinking today infact how much I feel much the same (as far as I can tell) as I did before I started hormones. Granted the depth of emotion has been greater but overall on any average day I feel pretty much the same (as far as I can tell) of course it's hard to tell because I'm pretty sure my brain has been rewired and I find many of the things men do and say even more foreign than I did before. That being said I'm also baffled by many of the things I hear woman say regarding how they feel about and think about men, don't they get it men really aren't that complicated. Ha! I guess I'm some where in the middle but closer to female

You're experiencing joy and freedom, the affects of the HRT meds ( in terms of "changing" things ) take a while. Weeks/months/years kinda while... Usually mental affects come first. Things like breast development or body hair changes are slow. Loss of morning "wood" often comes pretty quick, around week 2 or 3.

I think that is LSD not HRT

What comes next? (Assuming were talking MTF here) Sore breasts start soon and keep the change process pretty "real." Enjoy the giddy high of the first tingling breasts, and be prepared for the startling "OMG that hurt" pain when someone elbows you in your swelling nipple. (I mean I shrieked like a school girl two octaves higher than I ever did for any ball in the groin).

And then in the following months you get an idea what teen girls go through wondering how big their breasts will grow over the course of not days, or weeks, but years! ( - ugh. Years? Really? I have to wait years?) and you begin to understand, maybe, how flat chested girls feel when their little bumps don't grow as big as Angelina Jolie's or even Cameron Diaz's and you have to accept Debra Messing or Erin O'Conner as your fashion and beauty role model.

And my dumb mirror kept reminding me that "pretty" doesn't come simply from HRT pills! (I have a love hate thing with mirrors, don't you?) "Pretty" remains the same abstract, subjective, and might I say "elusive" concept that it was when all I did was CD (think night time Princess Fiona trying to become daytime Princess Fiona).

I don't know why it was a surprise to me, but after like a year of HRT it finally hit home that even women with plenty of natural E still have to shave their legs, tend their hair, watch their complexion, master make-up, watch their weight, own a lot of clothes, own a lot of fashion accessories, go to work, do the laundry, walk the dog, and HRT doesn't do any of those things! (And I changed brands of E several times just to make sure. . . . I even changed dosages and the same result - the dog still needs to be walked!)

But what else my mirror has shown me ever since I started HRT is that I am a whole lot happier doing all those womanly things with my T levels down and my E levels up.
:-)

Hugs,
'lissa

PS (But seriously, if any of you girls have a brand of E that files your nails, walks your dog and shaves your legs for you would you please let me know? I mean I'd settle for the brand that just walks the dog for me!)

Exactly.. i experienced the same thing...in fact, my feelings were immediate...literally.

Today, years later , I feel the same, but i know that's not really true at all..

Jeri,

I'm very happy you are doing so well with HRT.

To confirm your assumptions; yes you are feeling the effects of taking a major step in becoming you.
The effects of the HRT will only add to your emotions.
Some of those emotions will be incredibly good and others will make you cry for a few hours at a time.
This will disappear over time.

Be well sister. :)

To further my thoughts Jeri, I feel that as you proceed, you can constructively use this feeling as "data" to help you confirm that what you are doing is right for you..

there really are no (or very little) chemical changes of any kind in your body...its all YOU...how wonderful is that..

ROFLMAO. Really the height of silliness. I loved it .
(however I am notorious for being easily amused so your mileage may vary)
