I am thinking about having a Rhinoplasty done at the same time as SRS.

Has anyone done both at the same times?

Views, Pros & Cons?

Yes, I have. I thought it was a good thing to combine with SRS because (w my doc) you're in bed for a few days. So why not have a cast on your nose :D Honestly though, it wasn't really a big deal in terms of recovery. Mine healed easily, just a few tiny stitches under the tip of my nose and two at the bridge (which were invisible very soon after the stitches were pulled). Full recovery from Rhino actually takes about a year - or so I'm told. My nose healed up well, but is still a little tender if I push on it or squeeze the bridge. Honestly I did not think it was a bother at all, while recovering from the other surgery.

I can agree with Charlene regarding nose work, I had my sinuses and a deviated septum corrected a year ago. You are back up from that by the next week, as long as you are careful with it. My ear/nose/throat doc made the same statement about full healing taking about a year.

As for SRS, I don't know. Still have all original equipment.

Charlene,

Did he do it during your SRS operation or before or after (meaning a day or two later)?

Did he give you a package deal for both?

package deal

I'm SURE you didn't intend the pun, but it was too good to pass up! :devil:

I did breasts and srs at the same time...at first recovering from the breasts was more painful...after the packing came out of srs that became the bigger issue..

to me traci the biggest problem of no complication srs is the long period of very profound fatigue that last for quite a long time...so i think getting an extra procedure done is smart...one less anesthesia

That makes sense to me! I can just see it now, I will be hurting between my legs and the opposite end - my head.

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to this thread... Dr. C did combine some surgeries together as one, lower price. But I added rhino late in the game and I do not think there was a discount ( I have to go and check though ). The "basics" were a package deal ( I do now love that phrase .... :D ). That was SRS/trach/AM. I had 4 surgeries at the same time. This is not that unusual, really ;)

I think you can 'deal' with many of the docs about combined surgeries.
