My first time out///wow!

First off this outing was really, really difficult for me because, as you can tell by my picture, I am at all passable. But I was determined to do this.

The Night: I cannot do my own makeup so I went to an establishment that provides this service. It was great watching the transformation.

OK – transformation completed. Dressed in a skirt and heels I had to make it out to my car wearing the heels. I kept telling myself I can do this.

Great! I made it across the parking lot and into the car. Now I had to figure out where to go. I decided to head towards the mile shops on the strip of LV. OK……..will I be OK driving from here to there? Will I be harassed, while driving? Can I even drive in hi-heels? Well, I was not harassed by anyone and driving in heels….well I got it down. I Pulled into the parking lot where the valet met me – oh no – now what do I do? I got out of the car as gracefully as I could - the attendant asked me if I needed any specific directions, and I smiled and said no. He said enjoy your night.

I’m in the shops! I’m really in the shops!!! I just strolled around for a bit, but in heels, the walking really did begin to hurt my feet, so I needed to find a place to sit and just observe……or be observed. I knew there was a casino/bar, but I could not find it, so I asked one of the shop workers, she gave good directions to the casino. I arrived at the casino, and found the bar. I took a seat at the bar and ordered a drink – just a beer. I really know I should not be smoking, but believe me at this point I really, really needed a cigarette! My cigarettes and lighter were in my purse. So I got the pack of cigarettes out of my purse and by the time I found my lighter, the gentleman sitting next to me offered me a light. It was really relaxing to sit and enjoy a drink or two. Because of the skirt, I had to keep my legs crossed the entire time I was sitting there. Well, wouldn’t you know, the legs began to fall asleep, so I had to get (moving) going. Not sure how long I was there, long enough to have 2 or 3 cigarettes and a drink. (At the time it seemed I was there forever). Time to go…Put my cigarettes, lighter and car keys back into my purse, left the bar tender a tip and began the long walk thru the casino, the shops and back to the parking valet. On the drive back, I needed to stop at a little store to buy some bottled water. (I really did not need the water, but it was a good excuse to stop). Went in the store, selected my water of choice, proceeded to the checkout to pay, where the lady at the checkout counter greeted me – “yes ma’am how are you”. It was great being referred to as ma’am.

This little time out was great! I did not encounter even one negative reaction – other than myself – really, really nervous about the entire event. This outing did so much to increase my confidence. I enthusiastically look forward to going out again – sadly, it won’t be soon enough.

Good for you! You certainly jumped into the deep end on your first time. Moral of the story is, no one cares. Especially when you are a paying guest.

Congratulations Kayse! It sure feels good to be "beyond the point of no return" doesn't it?

Next, you'll have to develop your makeup skills (it isn't rocket science!) and do it all again!

That is a lot of interaction for a first time out. Congrats! What do you view as your next step (or are you still hyperventilating?)? :heehee:

What a great (big) first step out into the world. Not only a makeover, but then you mustered the courage to plunge right into the thick of activities. And you discovered the reality - that our fears are seldom realized and often, that initial stagefright is the worst part of the experience. You conquered your fears and had a wonderful time. When are you going out again?

Wow! That's a lot more than I did my first time out, and still don't even have the interaction part down. Here you are with so much courage. It is definitely a wonderful feeling not being cooped up and it only gets easier the more you do it.

Not sure if this is the place for this but thought I would give it a shot. I read a lot of similar threads. I was wondering if the members would be open to setting up a thread where a listing of people in different cities willing to help others learn to shop-learn to dress-and become friends ??

Ok, so let me try this again! I recently had my first outing as well. A TG friend (and my ONLY confidant) told me about a support group that was having a dance. attending as Blair was optional, but I did it! However........it had one bad effect on me. when I got there, the majority of attendees were pre-op ladies and gents, The downside for me was that they were all so BEAUTIFUL! makeup perfect! me? Not so much. It is my payback for only playing with my wife's clothes all those years! My makeup was so bad in comparison, I felt like the proverbial ugly duckling but with no hope of becoming a swan. I have watched every video and still no talent. I finally asked a lesbian friend of mine that used to do it for a living. That only took 4 drinks to get the courage to tell her and ask. Sadly, she has given it up and no longer has the equipment. So my search goes on...and on...and on....

Fantastic. Not just a first step out, but a gigantic one with a lot of activity. WTGG!! The only downside is remembering what you felt, and knowing that the next time just isn't here yet.

Hugs, Barbara

You are there girl, you are really there. You have been out and talked with folk and you have found out the one thing that a lot of us will perhaps never discover. Namely that we can fo out and no one generally gives a hoot.
