got to wear a skirt all week

Well almost all week with a bunch of non cder's I was on a Kayak trip and a kayak cockpit skirt was required so there were lots of skirt jokes when we were getting ready to paddle. I found amusing :devil: I got a special laugh out of it has did my SO

I am a whitewater kayaker and am around that environment almost every weekend. I have been doing it for years but it does still make me smile inside when we joke about wearing skirts. In my head I'm always saying, if only you knew! :)

Congrats on the paddling trip though, what river were you on?

It was a sea kayak around Espiritu de Santo Island in LaPaz Baja Mex It was an awesome trip but not white water. The jokes were great.

I once a long time ago, built a Kayak from plans out of Popular Mechanics
It was fun, but I never had the chance to use it. My dad sold the Kayak
while I was in the service.

Excuse the ignorance, but what is a Kayak cockpit skirt? and why is it required?

It keeps the water out of the boat, Kayakers play in pretty rough water. If you have ever seen a native of Alaska, roll one over and back up, you know you want to keep the water out of the boat.
Now one of you Kayakers let me know if I got that right.
