I have been reading a lot of posts over the past few days and I am beginning to notice a slightly different spectrum of CD'ing...

I am seeing some people on here who seem to not like themselves and are hiding or trying to become something else to deal with the fact they don't like who they are. They tend to post negatively to just about every post they reply to.

On the other end are people who seem to be really in touch with themsleves and are trying to express who they really are. They tend to post positive encouraging words and to display a real sense of humor and confidence.

I am curious if you have 'seen' the same thing and please let me know where you feel you fall on that scale.

For me, I know I have attributes of both. From working with my therapist, I have figured out that I have some baggage that CD'ing helps me deal with. I also have a feminine side( that seems to be growing stronger as I work on the other issues) that I really enjoy expressing. As it is right now, I feel I am about 80% enjoying expressing who I really am.

I see much of what you mention, Casey, but I don't think it's anything new. It's certainly been present for the three months I've been on this forum, but seems to cycle between mostly silly or mostly inspirational, and between positive or negative emphasis. Perhaps random chance, or perhaps a post or two establish a mood that is picked up by others.

It helps to recognize that we are not a single community, but span a wide range of situations and interests. Each of the voices in these communities may share at any given moment.

I hope that I come across as one of positive and occasional inspirational voices, but that probably depends on your perspective.

It is not specific to the CD community I guess, I just happened to notice it and wondered if anyone else had.

Love the shoes by the way. Do you remember where you got them?

Thank you. They're my favorites, comfortable and multipurpose. They're by Annie, sold to my Shoebuy about three years ago.

CaseyMarie,
I have found my favorits here who tend to give balanced, well thought out and generally positive posts, and there are others who write absurd and hurtful things that I interperate as a call for attention. I look forward to the former, and ignore the latter. I also find there is the occasional TS vs CD vs TV foodfight, but I also ignore those as well. Generally this board does a much better job of being inclusive and courteous than any other that I have found; we can thank the moderators for that.

Thanks for adding this, CaseyM! In other words, we're just like the BILLIONS of other humans on this planet! Except for one thing I seem to have noticed:
CD/TG/TSs that I have met in person, all seem to be different from "average" humans!
They're certain not all the same! But, they all seem to have UNUSUAL personality characteristics! And, I mean that in a GOOD, COMPLIMENTARY way! Not that everyone would get that, but I believe it!:)

There is a diverse group of people here.
From the humorist to the most serious.
From religious to atheist.
From anorexic to excessive eaters.
Overbearing to the meek.
Passive to argumentive.
We all suffer or have suffered at one time or another from some gender identity.
It is a mixed bag and diversity is what you get.
The longer you keep looking the more different types you will discover.
Problems and themes seem cyclic so today everyone hates their looks.
Tomorrow we all want to wear dresses.
When winter comes we all want to go skiing.:)
Enjoy your discoveries reply to what you like and if it is not to your taste, ignore it.

I hope I come across as a nice girl. I like to help others if I can and I like to know people are happy. There are so many of you here I would love to meet and hug and talk to.
I would say on the whole CD part, I think I do want to escape a lot of parts of my male life. But there are parts I would not want to get away from. And I love this place as it does let me express myself. So much so that I posted pictures!

Great post Casey!
Hugs x

I don't like "me" especially when I am in male mode. I want things to be better than they are and thus I am negative as a male. A curmudgeon. I don't think I am handsome and in fact I believe I am rather homely. However I have been told over and over that this was not really so. And there are women who do like me as a male.

As my feminine self I love me. I think I am attractive and I am happy. It shows. I make a better woman than a guy. I want others to share this and thus I am just shy and not introverted and I like to tell everyone here how much fun it can be out in the "light". The more of us who are out, the less uncommon we will be and soon no one will even notice us out in public.

I agree. I've been reading lots of threads and agree. Some seem like totally bitter and some seem very nice and happy.
Myself I'm very happy with who I am. I think I have a very bubbly happy positive personality.
I'm new here. But as time goes I hope I'm seen as the nice friendly girl I am :)

I'd say 50/50 at this point for me; 50% is dealing with some life stressors, and 50% (and gaining I believe) is that it makes me happy to leave my male side behind and have a kind of "fresh start" as a woman. With colorful clothes and sensible makeup I feel better than I ever could as a guy. As far as posting negatively, I'm a firm believer in not saying anything if it can't be positive, life's too short.

Hi Casey,

I am seeing some people on here who seem to not like themselves and are hiding or trying to become something else to deal with the fact they don't like who they are.

I see this too, but have tended to think maybe I'm being just a little over analytical. Personally, I love being me and wouldn't swap my world for anything. Well there is one thing maybe, that would be to have my sister back after she was taken from us at Christmas.

But back on a lighter note, I love me in drab and fab, but fab is prettier in my eyes :battingeyelashes:.

Changing who I am is not on my agenda, freedom to express her is what I desire, but I wouldn't let it get me down. I prefer to pick myself up and crack on.

Celebrating me.......yeahhhhh!

You are correct in your observations but this is not something new. A great many have difficulty accepting that they are a CD, Trans, whatever and really struggle.

Many of us have already been through this and are now comfortable with who and what we are.

CaseyMarie, I believe that life is meant to be enjoyed. So even though there are negative things that happen in my life, I choose to do my best with the situation and move on to enjoying everything else.

But we are all different. And our experiences and approaches shape our outlooks. And each outlook here contributes to a whole view each of us should receive whenever we ask a question. By getting all of the viewpoints, we have everything we need to weigh how we will handle our individuals situations.

I do believe nearly everyone here talks from their heart, and very few are mean spirited, for whatever reason, as discussed already. I try to be positive, and a little humor, but I often miss the point, through ignorance, or whatever, and this may come across as dissing the OP, but never intended. There will always be up comments, and down comments on any subject and they just prove what has been said here, we are really no different from the rest of the world, except we dress better than about 50% of them.
