You're probably right, it is mostly us "old" fogies. Why? Maybe because most of us have been wondering why for so long, and having somewhere to go for answers is such a big deal? Maybe because younger guys like yourself(?), are still living at home and can't be safe from discovery? Maybe the younger generation are getting more acceptance and they don't need the support so much?

I think there are a few. I myself am 20! I know there is a section for younger people on here somewhere! Just read the stickies on different forums. They do an excellent job on here of letting you know of all the opportunities on the board.

Welcome to the board! There is a member only part of the forum for 18-25 year olds you should be able to apply for access to after you have 10 posts. That should help you feel more comfortable.

Also, I'm not a mod or anything - but you might want to take a quick look at the FAQs if you are under 18 yourself, they have several boards which they refer younger people to. http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/faq.php?faq=welcome#faq_under_18

Oh happy early birthday!

And concerning the title of the thread, correct me if I'm wrong but don't you have to be 18+ to be a member?

Although I am a bit older than 24, I have been out in the transgender world since I was 19 and faced some of the same issues the younger folks here are now facing (at least those more toward the TV end of the spectrum.) If one doesn't mind talking to an "old" gal like myself, I might be able to offer some helpful advice (or advice, at least.)

25. I'm not toooo old yet. I feel as though us younger generation may get more support from some of the older members because they have been there done that. I'm sure the majority on here dressed as a teen and have experience in what you are going through.

Max, I think the majority of oldsters went through a period of self loathing, fear, denial, and whatever else you can ascribe to the belief you are "defective." If you follow through many postings from oldsters from the 1950's and 1960's there was differentiation between cross dressing and being homosexual. That's what society said back in those days. Now, being gay or lesbian is acceptable. Crossdressers have not progress to that level of acceptance. But, you youngsters have the benefit of the Internet to research and participate in forums like this to realize that being a cross dresser does not mean you are a 'defective' human being.

What would you do differently?

I'm 20. I think the youngest I've seen on here is 18, yet to see anyone below that. It does seem strange that most people here are a fair bit older though, I would have thought there'd be more people around my age on here looking for advice and acceptingness etc

I'm 24. You should join the Young Adult section. (If you haven't). It's not very active in posts/threads, but you will meet a lot of cool people.

My SO is turning 23 next month and he is on here. But, he kind of joined when he needed answers to some things and wasn't "out" yet. He comes on occasionally, but he's not very active. I guess he is blessed to have a lot of supportive people in his life, which many people here (that are older) do not. So, I think that's why there's more older people active here.
