This actually happened to me today and I really was both flattered and stunned. My driver's license is the one I had when I was in WI(long story short I can't get a new one until Sept. don't ask it's complicated). So yes it still has a really old picture plus it still has the "M" designate on it.

So anyway, I went to cash my paycheck at the bank I have been cashing the checking for months. The bank teller says to me when I present my id and check, "and you are?" I pulled my VA card which has my name and a more recent photo and said "I am the person on the check."

I was blown away that I am passing that good that the bank is now thinking I am someone totally different. WOW!!!

One small step for woman - one giant step for womankind!

Now where did I hear that before but in the male expression? :D:D

Tee-hee. Pulling out the ol' male ID card is so amusing. I'm almost going to miss doing that sort of thing, but identity documents that don't match are something of a liability...

I hope that someday I can pass like that. Congratulations.

I know it will be however I stuck with it until August/September because of snafu with my accident before I moved back to PA. Believe me, As soon as I can it will be changed. I don't like the pic on it or even the dreaded "M".

its a wonderfull thing, and good thing you had your VA card --- i remember going to JC Pennys once and the lady politly told me that she couldnt accept my husbands ID -- it does feel great inside when you start passing more than you imagined you could

just remember to smile :)

I now have a part-time job as a title-runner for an auto dealership. I notice that I look a lot more feminine in the recently-taken photo of the title-runner permit than I did with my driver's license, which was taken in 2008.

That is so affirming! I am stuck in male ID limbo for awhile longer and, on the whole, it sucks. My standard response now is, "i know - it looks just like me". Surprisingly, TSA agents never even blink. Thet either read me really well or just dont care

I had a similar incident. I presented the teller with a check and my ID and she asked me if I was waiting for my husband to come in. :heehee:

It sucks being stuck with inappropriate ID, but it's fun when stuff like that happens. :)
