I mentioned in the thread on the Green Day song that I had a TG playlist on my iPod, and someone asked what's on it. I figured I'd spin it off into it's own topic so others could chime in with their suggestions. Here goes:

Lola - The Kinks (a classic)
Cherry Lips - Garbage ("with your cherry lips and golden curls, you know you look just like a girl...")
Dude (Looks Like A Lady) - Aerosmith
King For A Day - Green Day
Get Back - Beatles
She's Your Cocaine - Tori Amos ("She's got you shaving your legs, you can suck on her thing, but you know you wanna be me, boy")
I'm A Boy - The Who
Rebel Rebel - Bowie
5:15 - The Who ("He-man drag, in a glittering ball room, greatly outrageous, in my high-heeled shoes."
Arnold Layne - Pink Floyd
I Want to Break Free - Queen (Not technically about crossdressing, but have you seen the video? You Tube it!)
Walk on the Wild Side - Lou Reed (I really don't like this song, but it's hard to leave it off a playlist about crossdressing!)

What am I missing? Chime in!

My favourite of all time is Arnold Layne! It was my first introduction to The Floyd and I've been listening to their stuff ever since. :)

Glory Box - Placebo ----------------- I'm not sure about this one. It can be read as having TG content.
I Do - Placebo ----------------------- Once again, I'm not sure about this.
Nancy Boy - Placebo
Queen of New Orleans - Bon Jovi
As Girls Go - Suzanne Vega
Transvestite - Blink 182
Sweet Transvestite from TRHPS
Lumberjack Song - Monty Python
.

Seeing Roger Waters tonight! Unfortunately, in "guy mode."

It's so hot here today, I couldn't imagine being outdoors with a wig anyway!

As Girls Go - Suzanne Vega

Definitely an appropriate song!

I'd been thinking I was the only one here who knew of Suzanne Vega.

I have seen her perform live at least 3 times; her early material really shines through when she performs live.

Portishead - "Glory Box"

Tell me these lyrics aren't hot...

I'm so tired of playing
Playing with this bow and arrow
Gonna give my heart away
Leave it to the other girls to play
For I've been a temptress too long

Just...

Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be a woman
I just wanna be a woman

From this time, unchained
We're all looking at a different picture
Through this new frame of mind
A thousand flowers could bloom
Move over and give us some room

Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be a woman
I just wanna be a woman

[INSTRUMENTAL]

So don't you stop being a man
Just take a little look from outside when you can
Show a little tenderness
No matter if you cry

Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be a woman
It's all I wanna be is all woman

For this is the beginning of forever and ever

It's time to move over...

Great stuff, lots of new songs to go listen to! On my CD playlist:

What it feels like for a girl - Madonna

"Reflection" from Disney's Mulan. Although expressing well the GG's feeling out of place, it adapts quite readily to a TG mindset:

Look at me.
I will never pass for a perfect bride
Or a perfect daughter.
Can it be
I'm not meant to play this part?
Now I see
That if I were truly
To be myself
I would break my family's heart.

It can be found on youtube. The lyrics are kind of hard to make out on those old recordings but I found them by googling:

"Sissy Blues"

I came in last night
I'm going home tonight, I won't no more

"Hello, Central, it's 'bout to run me wild
Can I get that number, or will I have to wait a while?"

I dreamed last night I was far from harm
Woke up and found my man in a sissy's arms

"Hello, Central, it's 'bout to run me wild
Can I get that number, or will I have to wait a while?"

Some are young, some are old
My man says sissy's got good jelly roll

My man got a sissy, his name is Miss Kate
He shook that thing like jelly on a plate

"Hello, Central, it's 'bout to run me wild
Can I get that number, or will I have to wait a while?"

Now all the people ask me why I'm all alone
A sissy shook that thing and took my man from me

Two songs come to my mind. I recently discovered these when the lead singer of "Against Me!" announced that his is TG.

"The Ocean" ("If I could have chosen, I would have been born a woman. My mother once told me she would have named me Laura. I would grow up to be strong and beautiful like her").

Also, "Searching for a Former Clarity" ("You wrote nightly an aspiration of developing as an author. Confessing childhood secrets of dressing up in women's clothes. Compulsions you never knew the reasons to").

That song was written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%28You_Make_Me_Feel_Like%29_A_Natural_Woman)

Hmmm, wikipedia says, "In 2003, the episode "Walking on Water" of BBC series Waking the Dead began with a version of the song performed by a transgender character."

Though well before my time, I am right now totally into all the songs & show tunes by Judy Garland. I just viewed a program all about her life on the local PBS channel. She had such a stellar career filled with magic, glamour & tragedy. Hugely used & unfairly treated by MGM, CBS & her dishonest financial handlers she was hurt but never defeated.

She was an irresistible, sexy, rockin, energetic, beautiful, loving & heroic woman. An extraordinary & inspiring entertainer. No quitter, she was a performer who truly wanted to please her audience & fans right up to the end; a heartbreaking loss when one of the worlds finest female singers died at the untimely age of 47 years.

I'm sure I'd have been crushin on her big time had I been around back then. In the context of her time, every one of these songs she's performed are Great :

1. In Between
2. Meet the Beat of My Heart
3. I'm Nobody's Baby
4. All I Do Is Dream of You
5. Alone
6. Easy to Love
7. After You've Gone
8. Over The Rainbow
9. Come Rain Or Come Shine
10. Just Imagine
11. Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend
12. Without a Memory
13. Did I Hurtcha, Burn Ya, Cutcha Much
14. Heartbroken
15. Over The Rainbow
16. I Got Rhythm
17. Embraceable You
18. Send My Baby Back to Me
19. Yah-Ta-Ta- Yah-Ta-Ta (Talk, Talk, Talk)
20. For Me And My Gal
21. But Not For Me
22. Everybody Sing
23. Yours and Mine
24. Got a Pair of New Shoes
25. Sun Showers
26. Why, Because!
27. It Never Rains, But What It Pours
28. Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart
29. On the Bumpy Road to Love
30. Life Is Just A Bowl Of Cherries
31. April Showers
32. D'Ye Love Me?
33. Carolina In The Morning
34. Danny Boy
35. I Feel A Song Comin' On
36. Last Night When We Were Young
37. Meany Meany
38. Meet Me In St. Louis
