It would have been much clearer if they titled it "Pregnancy and the Transman". Interesting article though.

It is an interesting conundrum: pregnancy is and biologically has been an indicator of the female sex. (notice I say sex not gender).

It's one of those things that is seemingly not what one would expect, but there are many reasons why a trans man would experience pregnancy, from accidents like was mentioned in the article to transmen whose partners cannot get pregnant. I can see the need for medical and social support, for sure.

My boyfriend is FTM. We are going to see if he can get pregnant if his parts resume working when he temporarily stops HRT. Entirely his idea and I understand where he's coming from. Just because he is a man with no sperm doesn't destroy the desire to have a child of your own. So we would definitely benefit from support from the medical community when we attempt to conceive. And by support, I mean having insurance, doctors, nurses and staff that treat us like human beings.

I can also see the need to have products designed to fit in with being masculinely pregnant. Your boyfriend's core identity will not change when he is pregnant, he isn't going to magically become a girl and/or want girl things. What will he do for paternity clothes?

Fortunately some guys seem to carry all their weight in their guts, so maybe there are clothes he could find in the regular section?

I have no idea what my guy will do... We'll time it so he's biggest when it's poncho weather... he'll just wear giant man-moo-moos!

I can just cut the tops off of jeans and sew on some stretchy fabric that fits better or something... lol... thank god I can sew!

Lol, can you also make him a shirt that says "Best. Beer gut. EVER!"?

You could make up a shirt that says: I used to have a six pack now I have a keg".

This is fascinating. (Almost directly from the "L" Word, where a FtM became pregnant. ) There's another dimension too. More and more children are being born inter-sexed...speculation is that estrogen like substances in the environment, like PCBs and a host of pesticides, are causing both genders to be expressed during fetal development. So the trans-boom may be not only among adults needing Ob/Gyn services, but also among a generation of kids growing up with ambiguous genitalia and gender orientation. What a brave new world we live in!

Maybe someone can invent a way for us to chose our sex at say age of 5 years old.
Maybe we can see the differences and chose what path we would like to go down the road of life.

There already is a way but parents have been afraid of what others think. LISTEN TO YOUR KIDS! They are telling you what the problem is.
