When I dress, I have a bra with forms, blouse, skirt, pantyhose(no panties), and heels on. Ok that me. Love pantyhose. And why wear panties when your nylon has panties built in them. Causal dress is one thing, but dressing is another thing. You go to a bank or some place of business and the woman is not wearing nylons and dress like it's a hassle. Then on Sunday, God moved them to dress like they should in a dress or a skirt. Why does it take the act of God for a woman to dress right? And for us, we dress like that all them time, at least I do.

Quite an interesting concept you have here! I would ask why women are supposed to wear skirts and dresses! Although I like to wear them when I can, I guestion you on the designer and who's idea it was for women to wear them! Hugs!

My SO once said "You like skirts so much then you wear them"..........little does she know.....in the closet still. I did smile on the inside when she said that but I said nothing in reply.

So dressing right for a woman means living up to a crossdressers dream world? That is the lament of all crossdressers: the casualization of clothing. Perhaps one day, as Darwin Has proven, we crossdressers will evolve to wanting to wear capris and tshirts?

Another idea as to why some women do not wear skirts and dresses, could it be they subconsciously have desires to be somewhat macho when wearing their "boyfriend" shirt, sweater, and jewelry? We should always be comfortable and confident in who we are - no matter what we are wearing!

I'm not religious but I don't think your god actually said women have to wear dresses!! Lmao. Or maybe you have a really old version of the bible? :D

First, what has God got to do with it, I believe his original concept, was Nude, and when Adam and Eve did get dressed, I don't remember the word Dress being used. As for women dressing proper, how often do you wear a suit, other than at work, if you wear one there. I think proper is wearing something that covers the body sufficiently, and is clean, and not foul smelling. Whether it's a dress or pants,it is and should be up to the wearer. I don' twant anyone telling me not to wear a dress, so I'm not about to tell any women that she shouldn't wear pants.
Jennifer, I guess I have evolved, I wear Capri's and a T shirt, at least three to one over skirts and dresses. They are fun, cute, and comfortable, and I find them just as feminine as anything else in my closet. A lot of my Capri's's and pants, are leggings, and they feel like wearing nothing at all, besides they come in some great colors, and prints.
I'll ignore it when people say men shouldn't wear a dress, and I suggest all women ignore it when a CD Say's, a thing like, why does it take God to make women dress proper.

Chari said it very correctly. Be confident and comfortable in what you are wearing! You should dress to please yourself, not the rest of the world!

Oh yes, I don't think God ever said women had to wear dresses or skirts! I am glad they do, so I can have some to wear!

I think that Society in general has gotten rather lazy in all genders way of dress.
Look many years ago, say the 1950's. Most men had a suit and tie on, women
wore a dress with stockings, later pantyhose, And both men and women wore a Hat.
Today you see girls wearing a set of torn jeans, no socks, no bra, and a "T" shirt
with some wise crack saying on it
No we dressers like to look at least like a lady, and the women don't care a hoot.

When i work in a office i was required to where a suits with ties while woman was allow to wear any thing. Now with that said i hate wear a tie, but i was required to wear one. When we were hunting for a house, we hired a woman that show up showing in sweet pants and tee shirt. Not professional. We let her go then we hire a guy, he show up mostly in suits with ties. A fes times he show up in a polo shirt and jeans. Which was fine cause he did not do it all the time. What i am trying to say is if you take a professional. Job, dress for it. First impression is important.

But I notice while drivimg on Sunday, that women dress up more to go to chruch and not the other days. I just dont get it.

Then there was a mighty clap of thunder as a lighten bolt struck the ground near a CDer wearing jeans. A rumbling sonorous voice said, "Well, Karren, do you think she got the message?" Not too sure what that version was in.

Comfort trumps fashion these days. At least in the business world. It's all ok I guess although I think GG's sometimes do not understand the pure lust they could generate in their minds of their SO with that accidental showing of the stocking top. Glamour in our everyday world is gone...as I said comfort trumps fashion. However I have to draw the line at flip flops myself. Seeing GG today and guys for that matter who wear only these disgusting things everyday everywhere they go, it just makes my head hurt. I guess they are at the beach everyday of their lives.

What does God have anything to do with how someone dresses? And who gets to decide what is the right or proper way for a woman to dress? How would you like it if someone else gets to decide what is the proper way for you to dress? Oh wait! A lot of cross dressers complain about how society dictates what is proper for men and women to wear. How does that feel? Unless you are 100% out to everyone you know and every place you go, I smell a whiff of hypocrisy and sexism.

What i was getting at is that when a women is in a professional career but they dont dress the part, but when they go to chruch on Sunday , they dress to the nine. Why is that? I think I have a few ideas like looking for a "good" man and the other is to show off in chruch. Those are my theories.

Well.. to answer a few.. I wear jeans on Sunday to church, I would wear my SO - H shirts because I would feel they were with me at all times (smelled like them) and was bigger and comfy.. Dresses... I only own a few but I would rather be in Jeans and a tank top with my gym shoes.. much more comfortable for me!

Even in church the standards are falling. I see plenty of ladies in Jeans and sweats. I do think you should dress up a little but pants are now the norm.
Personally I would like to see a situation where in all business settings people had the freedom to dress in a manner that is comfortable but neat & clean. As a male what is the problem if the shirt "buttons" wrong as long as it is neat & clean (actually I have done this occasionally at work). Of course I would like it if I could wear a skirt but at this point I doubt thats gonna be allowed.

This is a recurring theme on the forum and the issue is one of fairness.

As CDers we would love to be able to wear anything we want, whenever we want, right?

So, why do some of us want to force women into 1950s female uniforms? That's undoing half a century of progress, progress that has helped us by changing overall attitudes toward gender roles and clothing.

I like skirts and dresses. I wear them every chance I get because I don't get that many chances. OTOH, my wife could wear a dress every day if she wished, but she usually wears jeans or Capris because they are more comfortable and practical. She enjoys wearing dresses on special occasions, and that is part of what makes those occasions special.

If you had to eat steak and lobster every day pretty soon it wouldn't be very special, would it?

Don't worry, dresses aren't going away. Ladies are just more selective about where wear them!

So let me get this straight.

You don't want society to dictate what YOU should wear, but YOU want to dictate what women should wear?

Oh you had to go an ruin a perfectly controversial thread with that over-the-top attitude about our tribe somehow being more feminine than natal females. And all because of pantyhose??? I didn't realize such a garment was the arbiter of what is considered feminine.

Perhaps one day, as Darwin Has proven, we crossdressers will evolve to wanting to wear capris and tshirts?

Not likely. I'll never live long enough to "evolve" to that. I'm not a fan of capris, and I can wear all the T-shirts I want to as a guy. Skirts and dresses, while on the outs with many women these days, are a very special part of the world of women's clothing, and I for one, do not want to see them disappear altogether. So I'm doing my part to keep the dream alive. Would that more women felt the same way. As a man, I greatly appreciate it when a woman wears a nice dress or a skirt. And that has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a crossdresser. Men love it when women wear nice clothing whether they crossdress or not. I understand the whole argument of comfort vs. versatility. But as Fernando of Saturday Night Live fame once said, "Comfort has nothing to do with it. After all, how you feel is not as important as how you look.......and my dear, youuuuu look Maah-velous!"

I like to wear skirts and dresses mostly. But will wear capris or jeans or shorts, just so long as they are feminine. With soft fabric and pretty colors and flattering cuts. Sparkly tops, and tight jeans are ok..looks feminine to me.
But I hear you. I absolutely swoon over the ladies of the 40's 50's and 60's. I have a big collection of old movies in which I adore the ultra fem fashions.

Fun Post.

I think it's an exaggeration to say women dress casually too often, as implied in the OP. There are many special occasions, as Eryn indicates, that women use as opportunities to dress nicely and display their femininity. Weddings, church, going out to clubs, holiday parties, beaches (although that is a whole different section of their wardrobe), as well as for certain jobs, such as sales where you want to make a good impression. But as Eryn and others say, it is more comfortable and practical (and time saving) to not get all decked out for everyday events like going to the grocery store or picking up the kids.

But (a) most CDers don't get as many chances as they want to go out and about in full dress and (b) if/when they do, they will typically choose clothing that is solidly in the "female" category because they want to emphasize the essence of their womanhood. Which is not only more "fun" for most CDers, but safer in terms of reducing the risk of getting clocked - a skirt and blouse or denim shorts and pink t-shirt?

Which is why one of my favorite CD jokes is, How can you spot the crossdresser in a group of women? She's the one wearing the dress.

Maybe because in some respects we're more feminine than the average GG woman. I guess?

Just the opposite, as I see it, Annaliese. Cis-gendered women generally don't question or get questioned about their femininity and, thus, have nothing to "prove" by choosing an LBD over sweats and a t-shirt.

This may not be on point but here goes. Considering the anatomy of the male & female below the waist, I think we have always been wearing the wrong clothes in the "normal" mode. Pants design fit the female better and skirts fit the male better. Just my opinion.

Hi,

So we have the clothes Police out in force again so tell me who this dictater is & ill take him out.....

so we as woman dont have a mind of our own as to how we wont or need to dress how strange i thought i had a mind of my own. best go find it,

Im a woman & i have many different styles shapes colours & so on most are skirts that i wear. dress's some 6 different ones for different meetings . plus my garb for our Renaissance group & Edwardian group. all skirts plus many different tops.

most days ill be in one of many different skirts, yet i like my jean type skirt, flared out at the bottom just sits nicely.& long.

I hope what is meant here is,

Maybe because in some respects. ...we're...more feminine than the average G G woman i quess.

we dont have to prove we are women, some of us may not have as said the femininenity of as the percived this is how all women should be we are not governed by some standered, that we have to live up to we as woman are all different in who we are, & we dont all dress the same . of cause this goes back to how a male ( percived ) thinks a woman should look.

I want to thank all you lovely ladies who took the time to stand up for GGs right to choose what to wear. I believe in dressing nicely, but stating that for a GG, that would be a dress and not pants, seems hypocritical. By the way, I have seen plenty of genetic men who dont dress too well. Every time I see a young guy wearing his pants down below his a$$, I want to yell, pull your pants up, you look like a clown!

You're kidding, right?

If not, then tell us why so many in these pages go to such lengths to achieve a female shape. I have heard just as many say it has to do with fit of clothing as it does the overall desire to have the look and shape like any other female.

Just my opinion.I think I see your point, but if i wore a skirt, or kilt, I'd still wear panties under, i don't like it "all swinging free"

I have lately developed a hankering to wear a skirt, one my store sells, in male mode. This is just because I've recently switched to shorts, and the coolness factor is nice, and I'm often marking up my pants when working, shorts avoid that. A skirt would be cooler, and would also be above the knee and again wouldn't get marked up either. The materials and pockets are of a similar look.

I'm almost certain that the company wouldn't object, I'd probably get a massive amount of sh*t from the guys though.
