YEP! The last two months have flown bye.

As of today I have exactly 3 months before my SRS and being "whole."

I am getting really excited but anxious at the same time.

Traci, my date is in 3 months as of yesterday. So we will be in Thailand at the same time :)
And I know EXACTLY how you feel about being really excited, but anxious at the same time. :worried:

Melody, we have got to get together "before" and "after. We can lift each others spirits on the eve, and cry with joy when we are well enough to see each other afterwords.

I am already thinking that each minute of the last week will seem like an hour. I wish I could relax and enjoy the summer (albeit very hot and humid) but I am like a cat on a hot tin roof.

When I first posted my SRS date two months ago I thought those 5 months would take forever to tick by. Now here I am at 3 months, and YES it seems like "eternity" before my operation (well that needs to be plural not singular as I am having three other procedures done at the same time) . Inna, I never could conceptualize "forever" until now! You are right on the mark.

Traci, what are the other procedures you are having?

SRS + Rhinoplasty, Alarplasty, and a Lip Lift. All done at the same time so I will only be under ONCE!

Yes, makes sense from what Ive been reading up on, the most dangerous thing being not the surgery itself so much but the anaesthesia. Minimising that makes a lot of sense to me.
Food for thought for when it comes to my turn.

It's from people like yourself that I can learn so much.

Thanks.

Congratulations Traci and Melody, the 12 weeks will fly past. :)

You'll enjoy Bangkok also! I've never eaten so much good food in one place. Back to reality and on the diet from today.

I don't know about Melody but it doesn't sound like Traci is going to be doing much eating for a while.

The Rhinoplasty and Alarplasty I had last week didn't stop me :) It's amazing what you can squeeze in your mouth when you can only open it half an inch :D:D:D

My prediction is that the time will fly, not drag ;-)

When I was getting ready last year, I made several goals. One was to swim 50 miles in the last 90 days - anything to help my condition ( improve chances of easy recovery). It seemed to help, although I ended up going only 40 miles. I can remember my last swim like it was yesterday ... I wasn't really nervous by then.

I recommend getting stuff ready early, it helps the nerves.

Carry a little Thai money with you (maybe 500 baht), exchange most when you get there. TMB banks are generally a better rate, but check out who is near you. The airport rates are decent, but the local banks will be better. Traci: the TMB bank next to the Rama (to the left) didn't do exchanges. You can easily get baht from the ATM's on the front of the building. If you go to the right ( as you leave the parking lot ) and down the road to the little shopping mall (w/ grocery and KFC). There's a bank there that has great rates and are easy to do biz with. I can't remember the name though. The bank signs etc are all green. The mall is pretty close, maybe a 10-15 min walk ( before surgery ).

Good LUCK !!

Add to that the lip lift...I hope I don't look like a squirrel after my lip lift with my 2 front teeth showing when my mouth is closed!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone.

I have been a bit anxious, but I also have been very busy lately which has been
good so I haven't had much time to dwell on anything. The problem is I have
been so darn busy that I still haven't had a chance to get my passport photos
yet which I need urgently to get my new passport application under way. It is
now Friday afternoon at 4.22pm, so it is a bit late today to do anything. So I will
try to get out and get them done tomorrow or first thing Monday. So a little bit
of angst there because I also need my passport ASAP to book my flights before
the prices start going up.

Anyway, I won't sweat too much right now because I know how determined I am to get there :)

I'm so happy for you Traci! I know how happy I was just waking up from my orchi, but waking up to the RIGHT parts and fixing the other things that bother you... I can't imagine how that will feel!

Which Doctors are you two using?

I am getting ready to book my surgery and have narrowed my choices down to Dr Saran and Dr Chett.

Personally I am going with Dr Saran and I think Traci is going with Dr Chettawut. :)

You two are lucky girls! I'm getting jealous...

... maybe if I start living on ramen noodles and lima beans...

I'll see if my boyfriend is cool with me selling all our furniture and replacing them with milk crates and dog-hair pillows... That would get me... 10% there??? We never sit on the stupid couch anyway...

How do you think I have managed to save eh? LOL

Yep, you do. I am such a Scrooge now with money, to the point I don't like driving my car around unnecessarily.
So I moved right in close to the city & never go out anywhere for just one thing. So I like to combine errands.
I hardly ever use air-conditioning and only use low energy saving lights so I save money on my power bills. I
have never in my life been able to budget or save anywhere near this amount of money. So when you really
want something you go after it. But what I have learnt in managing finances in my transition will stay with me. :)

Melody, how did you and your friend decide which surgeons to go with?

I'm not sure if I've been narrow minded, as I've spent a lot of time now researching the SRS op, and I always wonder if Suporn is more just a celebrity surgeon in this case? Chettawutt and Saran, from what I've seen and heard of them are both very good too, and obviously tailor to a much easier to manage price tag for almost everyone.

I'm still finding it hard to make that final decision on a surgeon to choose, and have been leaning to Suporn, but I'm not sure if that's just a bias or if there is a difference that is worth the extra 5k or so that it costs. I'm also wondering if anyone can help shed light on any real differences between the surgeons, because I'm struggling to understand it all on my own, and the decision is kind of difficult when you're meant to be planning it for next year, and I don't have anyone around me to talk with about such a matter, so it leaves me worrying if I'm not seeing it in all lights of the matter.

Congrats to you and your friend, btw, Melody on being so close, I can't wait myself lol, and thanks for any help you can maybe give me on the subject. :)

Suporn, Chettawutt, and Saran are all very good at what they do. How do you decide? Write each name on a piece of paper and fix it to a wall. Mark off 15 paces and draw a line on the floor. Apply a blindfold, stand at the line and throw a dart. The one you stick with the dart wins.

You girls are so lucky. You have a choice. When I had my SRS there was one doctor available at the time I had available to have it done. I guess I got lucky and got a good one because I have not had any problems in 22 years.
