I don't think about my tattoos much these days, 3 of them, a small on on my left arm, a tribal type design shoulder blade to shoulder blade and an alien; as in the alien movies, and alien vs predator, that's nearly 12inches. I love them they are a part of me literally, but I am torn between, covering them up by wearing long skirts, or say the hell with it and wear what I want, if and when I do go out as. I know that is something I have to find out on my own. This does however makes me curious if anyone else out there has had something similar.

Alexisninsar Same as you. three, one left arm heart with wifes name, two on right arm, always hard to cover with strapless dress. tried all forms of coverup, did not work. always wear sleved blouses out in public, in my home or among friends i dont care. would not have them removed , reminds me of the "problem" days. Its a hard one. I love my tattoos so much, but I appreciate there are certain situations you need cover them up for. I have to cover mine for work, which I totally get, but when I'm out and I love having them on show. You just have to look out where you are going and who you are going to be with and adjust from there. Know your audience and so forth.

If you love your tattoos and they are a part of you then why worry about about coving them up? If you are confident enough to dress enfemme out and about and don't care what people think, then why worry about your tattoos. :) I say wear what the hell you want. Life is too short to worry that sort of thing.

I have lots of tattoos, including a huge back piece. I can't wait to get home from work so I can wear clothes that don't cover them up.

But that wrinkly 80 year old man will look back on his life and say "damn, I did everything I wanted".
Then he will die right there on the beach.

Not a whole lot of people look good at 80 either way, and if I find some art that I have to wear on my body then I will do it with no regret.

Kat Von D, as well as plenty of female models have tons of tattoos.

In your situation, I'd say get even more and just rock it out like any tough girl. Why not?

Look at this pinterest page (http://pinterest.com/eash83/beauty-is-in-the-eye-of-the-beholder/) for dozens of example of what I mean:

Totally tough and totally feminine.

So, say you get to 70 y.o-80 y.o. and those tatoos shrink along with your body...getting all wrinkled....I've seen 70 y.o men at the beach with old shriveled up tats...not a pretty picture...Only thing I'm putting on my Birthday Suit is CLOTHING...Hmmm. WHAT a concept!

No thanks. No tats for me...but you go ahead on..:D

I think that most people who get tattoos these days are aware of this, and just want to enjoy themselves while they are young and their bodies are still fresh-looking.

Okay enough with the bickering. We are all supposed to be adults here.
Purple8229 most people knows that it is permanent, however there are now laser treatment that can remove them google "Bryon Widner"
Now as for mine the alien was the first and it was a year from when I wanted it to when I got it.
actually forgot one, my wedding band tattoo.

I have no tattoos , except for a couple of pencil lead jabs I did accidentally when I was a kid, they are still there.

Body modification: if one can get facial feminization surgery, I want to surgically reconstruct my face to look like a cat, particularly a cheetah.
Well, enough of the bizarre fantasies. Ink's not my thing, neither is anything beyond ear & nose piercing.

We must each make our own choice on whether or not to cover up the tats.

I have but one small TAT on the outside of my right ankle. so I don't worry about it. It is of my business logo.

I disagree SV. MOST young people are not aware of this. Show me a disclaimer. In writing. From any tat shop...go ahead. Feel free....

More along the lines of when young people start talking about how they got a tattoo/are planning to get a tattoo, there are always going to be people saying things like, "Do you really want something like that on your body for the rest of your life?" / "It'll wrinkle when you get old" / "What you think is cool now may not seem cool to you 20 years later", etc. I doubt that there are any teenagers, however naive they may be, that have not considered this. Or maybe I'm just biased because I always thought of my future when I was a teen and never decided to get any tattoos myself. But either way, when I am interacting with someone who already has tattoos, I try to be tactful and not talk about how ugly the tattoos will look when they get older - I figure that they already considered the negative consequences and thought it through.

I always hate how people always chime in with the "you'll regret them when your old line." Why anyone thinks its their business I'll never know. This is along the lines of, "ooo you'd look so pretty if you didn't dye your hair", or even the dreaded "You look so much better as a man, why do you want to dress as a women?" Yeah, its not nice is it? I even get "You don't like alcohol? Wow, you need to grow up!" and "You don't want kids? You'll change your mind." People always feel entitled to comment on stuff that doesn't concern them at all.

At the end of the day its up to you what you want to do with your own personal body. I certainly don't go around telling people that they will regret "insert behaviour here" when they are old. It's really not my place to say. I always laugh how its always people without tattoos who care if you have them. People with tattoos couldn't careless if you don't have any.

By all means you are entitled to your opinions and I totally get some people don't like them. That's fine, in fact that's more than fine!. We are all individuals. Just put your hands up and say "Hey they aren't for me!"
However its a pretty awfully rude thing to say to someone that they will regret them. How do you know? How do you know anything about that person? I know tons of older people who don't regret their tattoos at all! We are all adults here who can make our own choices. To say anything otherwise is pretty patronising. Open mindedness please.

And now a word from my Good friend Willy Wonka! (http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/250x250/23625236.jpg)

We all get old and wrinkly when we age. So when I get old, I will be old but I'll have my tattoos and I'll still feel damn awesome. In fact I look forward to it. If the worst thing I can say about myself age 80 is "hmm my tattoos are getting a bit saggy" I'll be in a great place!

Me personally im a big fan of tattoos and piercings. I have three tattoos one on my back is my last name with two stars on each side of it. Then my wifes name on the right side of my neck and my sons name over my heart. My ears are gauged to ten and my lip is pierced twice called snake bites. I never worry about covering any of them up and plan o- getting more a lot more. I also plan on getting a couple that are more for cassandra and femine like im tattooing a garter on my upper leg and also im putting a tattoo of a design i drew up showing im a crossdresser and thats just cus its something important to me

Got my first tattoo after i turned 40, my wife helped design it. I think it is truely a piece of art and will always be proud of it.
My other tats are a ring of thorns around my pierced nipples, and these are just pure self indulgence.
The body modification I'm most proud of , is the impression of my wedding ring. after losing two my wife got me one 2 sizes too small.
After all, aren't we all doing some form of modification in our efforts to look and feel good crossdressing.

I love my tattoos. I started off with some motorcycle parts on my upper back. I placed them where they are specifically so they would show when I was wearing a backless top while dressed. Since then I've also had a motorcycle chain tattooed on my right upper thigh wrapping around to just above my knee (which looks really cool poking out of a short skirt while wearing pantyhose and I'm currently having a very girly fully color pinup themed design done (think Suicide Girls) on my left shoulder and upper arm.

The design I'm thinking about getting is one on my pelvis of the mixed male/female symbols. I've met a few other T-girls that have that and it looks really cool.

I think a lot of tattoos -- actually most tattoos -- are ugly and stupid and unoriginal.

... But the argument that I've heard forever that says tattoos are a bad idea because they'll look bad when you're old is asinine! When you saw a 70-year-old man at the beach with shriveled-up tats, did you say to yourself, "OMG, that 70-year-old guy would be so hot if he didn't have tattoos!"???

Sheesh.

That's actually a good argument for tattoos! By the time you're old enough to regret it, you'll be un-f***able anyway. :)

A tribal tattoo, tramp stamp, or a flash skull or butterfly screams that you were desperate to be "edgy" but just couldn't come up with anything even marginally artistic. But an old guy with a faded bluish tattoo of something you can barely make out gives him some personality.

i might be able to help some ppl out here. im now 22 years of age, i got my first tattoo when i was 19. ihave roughly 60 hours of work done costing over $6500. i do not regret any of them because ive always been aware that they are there for ever and i will always llove what i got tattoed for the rest of my life. i cant wait til im 80 so i can still look at my body and remeber the good times even if they look like garbage lol.

anyhoo back to the question lol if i could id like to cover up my chest/collar bone ink cause i cant create any cleavage and ive never ever seen a GG with tats there. but i just wear a collar shirt or dress and do fine. many compliments on how sexy i look while dressed with tattoos :)

I thought about it for a long time before I got my tattoo for my 50th birthday, on my upper arm, not too masculine or feminine. I like it, it's part of my personality. If I put on a strapless dress I may cover it up, otherwise I leave it alone.

That "faded bluish tattoo" may turn out to be just a bruise or a scar. It could have an interesting story behind it though.

I cant say i plan on gettin one, but i ain't gonna say nothin bad bout those who do. as long as it is appropriate for the occasion, i got no complaints. as far as the debate of whether you should get one or not, here is a video that expresses both sides of the argument quite well

I support people that like them and have no problem with it at all just something I never did.
There were all kinds of tat parlors in south east Asia and a lot of my friends got tats to document that part of their life.
One team member got a small black hash mark to log his kills which I found kinda sick but it was a sick and surreal time.
I did consider it a few times just never had that much R&R time.
The one I considered was the Ranger sleeve banner in olive drab like on the uniform (and in the same place).
The other was the 101st Airborne arrow logo like this patch I had on my hat.

Some interesting points I'd never considered here. I have on occasion fantasized about having stocking tops and backseams tattooed on my legs, but that's just me being frivolous. If I had been in the navy I'd be very proud to have the name of my ship tattooed on my upper arm. Right now it's just so mainstream to get inked that I wouldn't do it. I'd only get a tattoo to be different or rebellious. So I suppose I am rebelling by not getting inked. This is only my feeling, I don't want to impose my views on anybody and when done tastefully body art can be quite nice.

April_Ligeia
07-22-2012, 11:34 AM
I am pretty heavily tattooed. I don't get tattoos to be rebellious, I get them because they look good. I have many flowers, skulls, gods and goddesses, all sorts of stuff. I think it's funny where people draw their lines, being heavily tattooed is basically a lifestyle choice, and some people just don't get it. Tattooed people know that, but it goes with the territory.

The question of tattoos has crossed my mind from time to time. I have often thought the more feminine looking tattoos are more interesting and artisitic, but if one is still "in the closet" (as I am), sporting a tattoo which is more "appropriate" on a female form is where I begin to waver. I would love to find a design that is pretty when dressed, but not overtly feminine when in drab.

No tattoos here. I'm an actor by profession, and ink can lose you a job, more so than most careers. I dig piercings though, and am currently working my way up each ear. They are easier to hide/harder to see when you take the jewelry out.

Okay, I'm not 80 years old yet but every year I get closer and closer. Yes, I have several tattoos and everyone of them has a feminine motif. They are on places where I can wear shorts and t-shirts in male mode and not be seen. If I wear a tank top or two piece bikini, there they are for the whole world to admire. Some will say that tats are not for them and some swear by them. Here is what I have to say: tattoos are like back yard swimming pools, you don't put them in to enhance the value of your home but because you enjoy swimming and the recreational activities that they provide. Yes swimming pools are permanent fixtures at your home but you get it installed for yourself not the next owner. If you would like to have a permanent memory of someone or just make a statement, get a tattoo but if you are afraid you won't like it in 10 years then refrain. I am not afraid of commitment: my wife and my tats are forever.

Tina B.
09-09-2012, 11:34 AM
Tats are a matter of personal choice, some like them some don't, so what. Now days both men and women are wearing more and more tats and right out for all to see. leg tats are common on the ladies, as well as shoulder, arms and everywhere in between. I've seen women with roses, I've seen them with skulls. You got them, wear them, after all you can't take them off. Clothes are suppose to cover the parts of your body you want clothed, not all of it, at least not by western standards. so show your tats or don't no one will care.
Oh, I'm 68, I've had a tattoo since I was 18. So far it is not faded too much, it is not wrinkled at all, and looks pretty much the way it did the day I got it. It's on my upper arm, where I don't see it all the time, but when I do it reminds me of my youth and the good old days.

Interesting points of view from both sides of the fence. What I find fascinating, and without wishing to target any specific member for any reason other than a statement I wish to address, are comments on how structures we might add to our homes are permanent. Erm, no they're not! They can be removed and replaced with something different. Tattoos are permanent and very costly and painful to have removed - with no guarantee of success.

I'm of the live and let live camp but I am personally aghast at some designs and positioning of them. By all means feel personal pride in showing them off but take it from me, there are far more people who are sickened when they see them on prominent show in public. I can't recall anyone telling me to look at someone's tattoo because they think it's cool, but all too often they point to someone and will say look at the state of that instead. It seems to me the only people who think tattoos are a good thing are those who have them, and in doing so then encourage younger more impressionable people to have them too.

Are they cool? Yeah, if you say so... Hell will freeze over before I'm convinced though!

I'm fully covered from my head to toe and down on my hands. I don't care if I look feminine or not because I dress for me and nobody else. I'm sure when I get older I will have many regrets, but none of them will be that I'm covered. I also bet if you ask anyone who is 80 if they have any regrets you'll get a good list. Maybe I'll regret not coming out about my dressing, Moving to a different city, Taking a different job, buying a motorcycle, the list could be endless. But I won't regret not getting covered when I had the chance. I do see plenty of 70, 80+ year old people coming into a shop wanting to get one before they die though.
I had a woman tell me that I'll regret that (pointing to my arms with a look of disgust on her face) when I get older. I told her she'll regret not losing her weight if she gets older. Yes it was mean, but people shouldn't judge others unless they're perfect themselves.

Is there anyone else who compared swimming pools tattoos? Well I guess it is just as expensive to remove a tattoo as it is to fill your inground pool with dirt. Any real estate agent will tell you that a swimming pool doesn't enhance the value of your home and you get only a portion of your investment back. I don't wish to target any member from another country but as old as the homes are there, no wonder you can tear it up and rebuild to suit....Nana nana booboo: you started it!

For those contemplating a tattoo my suggestion is to work up the design and refine it to exactly what you want. Put it in a drawer. A year later, take it out and look it over. If you still feel the same way about getting it done then perhaps you should go ahead and do it.

Hey Nanaya; Tattoos are addictive!!! After you get the first one, you want more, then more...
Bit of advice, please dont ever get any cheezy stuff, like jokes etc. Stick.to something that flows with your body, and enhances its sexiness. A well designed.and placed tattoo is uber sexy!

BTW: I am a tattoo artist and have my own studio. And ive seen many badly thought of tattoos, which the person getting it thought it would be cool or funny...

Once I retire from my current postition/emplyer, I plan to treat myself and get a few tattoo's. All will be personal and not really for show unless I want to show them off. None will be big, but I want to do a permanent anket on my left ankel, and then (o.k., maybe a bit too girly) but a tramp stamp of a ballerina (what pose is still TBD) on my lower backside. Piercings for my ears are a definate, and I am now starting to think of a navel piercing too. This is not just a whim, but somehting I have been thinking about getting for a few years now. Now that I see all over the place with older, mature, professional / & soccer mom GG ladies getting them, then I know it is time tattoo's and piercings have gone main-stream, and their is nothing to be so uptight about not having one anylonger if I really want one or two, which I certainly do.

I had the pleasure of attending the US Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA in the spring of 1963. One young misguided soul appeared there at the same time with a tatoo of airborne jump wings on his arm before he had actually earned them. He didin't, the school cadre saw to it that there was going to be no possible way for him to graduate from the Airborne School for being so presumptive.

Happily I never did drink that much and have avoided any misguided attempts at body decorations. There's nothing that turns me off more than a tatoo. I guess I'm just old school.

I have 5 so far. One on each upper arm, one on my shoulder, one on my chest and one on the back of my neck. I want to get one of the arm and the neck tattoo covered up. Up until a year ago i had my ears gauged out to 1 1/2 inch. I had to get the surgically sewn up. There are days I miss them and days I do not.

I like to wear "temporary tatooes", usually on my upper thigh, that way, if I decide to give some cute guy (or girl) an upskirt, it adds to the excitement. I don't have any permanent body piercings, but I do wear a lot of body jewelry when I am dressed. I really like wearing nipple rings and ornaments, under the right kind of dress, those look soo very good.

Dear Eryn,

Did you consider laser hair removal on your face, supplemented by electrolysis? I have been researching laser hair removal for my face but am finding mixed reviews.

Also, once you get a completely hair free face, do you know if it immediately "outs" you to others, i.e. Is it obvious you are transitioning?

There have been a lot of threads on this in the Beauty Club forum. Usually someone starts arguing that laser doesn't work. Like this one:
http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/showthread.php?182122-electrolysis-after-during-laser

Eryn also has a big thread on all her progress with laser/electro.

By far the fastest and most cost-effective thing to do is to do everything you can with electrolysis then get grey/blonde hairs with laser. Electrolysis alone is usually estimated at about 250 hours, or about 3 years doing 90-min to 2-hour sessions every week. With laser you have sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart and you're in touch-up mode after about 8.

Without derailing this thread too much, the most important advice I can give is to get references. Try to find local TS people who have seen the tech and are satisfied with their results more than a year later. A bad electro tech can leave tons of little scars on you. A bad laser tech can set the power too high and kill all your skin pigment, or set the power too low and the hair will grow back in a year. Experience with trans women is important, because zapping a genetic female's faint mustache away is much different than getting rid of the beard of someone born male.

One major inconvenience is that laser places tend to just sell sessions or packages of sessions instead of billing by the hour like electrolysis. So, your first few sessions might take 45 min. to clear your whole face, but after a couple sessions it might just take 20 min. to clear the new growth, and after 7 or 8 sessions you'll probably just need a 5-min touch-up. But you can't just book a 5-min laser session, so you have to just switch to electrolysis. But if you find a good place that does both laser and electrolysis, you might be able to book an electrolysis session, but if any dark hairs popped up they'll pull out the laser to zap them real fast first.

Slowly losing your beard shadow isn't going to out you to anybody unless you clearly had a perpetual 5-o'clock shadow. If your mom is used to kissing you on the cheek and feeling something scratchy, that's pretty obvious. But moms are good at denial.

I want to add 2 more holes to each of my ears at some point, but I still haven't thought of any tattoo design I'd like to wear forever though.

One thing I'll never understand is penis tattoos, not ones on the penis but tattoos of penises in general.
Or if you really want to go meta, why not a tattoo of a penis on your penis?

Same thing with boobs/vaginas/OH GOD WHAT IS THAT? sort of thing.

At the moment any type of tattoo would be a pipe dream but I would love to have some. I cannot escape the fact that I would want mine to be extremely fem and in most people's eyes obvious. I've scouted long and hard on the net and still find myself drawn to having a rose on my left ankle calf area. I'd opt to have the stem wrap round my and the flower to be prominent and large. It's cheesy yes but it would make me so thrilled to show it off. That and I'd love my name in a scroll style tramp stamp. Finally a butterfly on my right foot.

Fantasy? Yes but the dream is there and it's the thought of something unmistakably feminine on me forever that will push me on. Again would I regret them? I'd like to think not and that I was merely expressing the person inside.

That's my ramble anyway 😃

Umm... Are tattoos of penises common in Ontario?

Cuz I gotta say, I've seen a lot of hearts, names, flowers, butterflies, tramp stamps, tribal silliness, celtic silliness, barbed wire silliness, skulls, demons, comic-bookish stuff, kanji, koi, gothic lettering, weapons, the ace of spades, portraits and random animals ... but I've never seen a tattoo of a penis on someone.

I mean, I wouldn't want one, but I think I'd be impressed. It's kinda ... uhh ... ballsy and original.

They seem to pop up a lot in places that mock badly done tattoos, that being said there are quite a few penis tattoos that are quite beautifully drawn and very artistic but at the end of the day you still have a penis tattoo.
In person though, I haven't seen anything offensive.

I do admire some of the nice artwork people have though.

If it is not an appropriate feminine looking tattoo I would be inclined to cover it up to enhance my presentation.

I love every one of my tattoos. I'm actually thinking about getting more work done soon. Its crazy to me how only a few years ago tattoos were so taboo but now everyone from bikers to CEO's have them. Its funny to here my70 year old grandmother talk about what kind of ink she would get.

Wear what you want! I know tons of attractive people, male/female/other that have awesome tattoos. If you love them, show them off.
