In July 2003 I weighed 205 lbs and was a size 16. Yes, I had just bought my first size 16 womens suit and was very unhappy that I became a size 16 from a size 14. Then I tried to join the Air Force and they said I had to be 165 lbs. So that was my motivation to lose weight. At first, I didn't have any idea of how to lose weight because I've never dieted and lost weight before. The first thing that came to my mind was to bike to lose weight - because I once met a person who said he lost 30 lbs by biking. So I bought an $1100 Cannondale F600 mountain bike and tried biking. I did this for a month but I got sore legs from my mtn bike. Apparently a mtn bike is a slow and harder bike to pedal. So I next bought a $1512 Giant TCR Aero 2 road / triathlon bike. I then did 366.12 miles my first half year (July to December 2003) and watched what I ate and went down to 192.6 lbs. Not that many miles and only 12.4 lbs lost in 6 months. Then in 2004 I did one long bike ride of 30 miles and discovered that I lost significant weight from the ride. So I then developed a 37 and 54 mile bike path route that I used for workouts and I did a lot of those kinds of workouts. So in 2004 I went from 192.6 lbs to 159 lbs by biking 2080.88 miles. I did not “diet,” I mostly ate my favorite 380 calorie carrot cake and chocolate milk for breakfast and then anything for a good lunch and dinner. I sometimes would even indulge in high calorie pecan pie - my favorite! I did about 52 to 130 miles per week in 2004 and I lost from 0 to 2.6 lbs per week. Being Asian, my lunch and dinner meals usually were half a plate of rice with anything.

This year, 2005 I went from 162.6 lbs to as low as 139.2 lbs by biking 2472.4 miles as of August 23, 2005 (3038.9 miles as of Nov 16, 05). My biking season started in February with the goal of reaching 145 lbs. So I only gained 3.6 lbs during the winter which I did not exercise for 9 weeks and I occasionally overate! Yes I overate some because I went on a 1-month long vacation to the Philippines and so I wanted to try the food! So this overeating and low weight gain showed that I lost weight in the best way - but not dieting and by burning off all of the fat! Hence I have a good high metabolism. My "diet" was not complicated - I just ate my standard Nemos carrot cake breakfast with chocolate milk / protein powder, a good lunch and dinner, and even up to 340 calories of any snack or junk food sometimes. But I switched to only drinking diet sodas.

You can see me in my smallest size 2-4 Petite Sophisticate suit from the thread, Me in 2 Suits : see http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11773

For those of you wanting to lose weight to get to that smaller dress size, I’d say biking would be the best form of exercise. People who run too much have been known to damage their knees, hips, or joints. And when you bike – you get a breeze that cools you down.

I am so happy I lost the weight that I did. Now I can buy and wear cheerleader uniforms (I have 2 of them) and even schoolgirl uniforms! I have a girl’s size 14 Catholic Schoolgirl skirt that I fit well and I know I can fit size 16.5, 18, and 20 girl’s blouses. I also have a Catholic lower grade school size 16.5 girl’s outfit – the kind they wear in grade 5! But the problem with girls clothes are they they are short for short people! The lowest women’s suit size I can fit is a size 4, the smallest dress I fit is a size 3 party dress, the smallest skirt I have ever fitted was size 3, smallest jacket size 2! Before my weight loss I was a size 16!

I’m also so happy that my size is the same size that pretty women my height also wear! So I can possibly share clothes with a girlfriend or wife when I have one.

Way to go, Jesse!

My stance on biking is already documented here--great exercise, especially great for toning the legs, and a lot of fun to boot!

Wow! Go Girl! I lived in Mexico for 6 months in 1993, and dropped about 25 pounds, mostly because I walked everywhere, like your biking. I have put those pounds back on but am in the final (hopefully) stages of therapy to make walking less painful. In male or female mode, trim is better, but it is much easier to show convincing femme figure when you are trim.. Congratulations.

Bicycling also makes for real shapely legs if you don't over do it. Dont forget to work them calf muscles when pedling!

Competative cyclist here,

I can easily ride 6k miles per year, at idea weight I am 195 to 198 pounds, size 10 is about all I can do, I can go no less than about a size 34 waist.

Cycling is a great sport to loose weight and as I transistion I will try and get back to there and see if i can go any lower (I think I can hit 180 but that is pushing it).

Funny is everyone is afraid when I go from a men's category to female... uniform is the same but I kick butt in mens with no testosterone, female... :D

Wow, you do a lot of miles! What's your height and body fat % ? I bet when you do race women after you transition you might really kick some butt!

It's hard for me to go lower than 139 lbs - at that weight I think I'd be 11 % body fat. I think I'm 13% body fat at 145 lbs right now. Gained some weight from overeating and it's harder to bike now that it's winter.

What kind of bike do you race on ? I have 2 racing bikes - a 2003 Cervelo Soloist Team (Dura Ace Ksyrium SL) and a 2005 Kestrel Talon (Ultegra / Eurus).

Trek 2100 with full DA10, etc, 17.8 pounds is my crit bike

Cervelo P2k (2001 frameset), full DA10, easton attack bars, etc. (TT)

Specalized Tricross ultegra 9, cyclocross

At 195 I am suprisingly only about 10 percent, I think I can go as low as 5 - 6 percent. I am a large frame size but due to the inability to build muscle I am quite light (although since I had surgery my weight has balooned.

I am a member of www.bikeforums.net, a well valued member there. Someone came on here and blew me wide open on the main site. That was my main motivation for coming out there. Check out this thread, over 160 replys and over 100 supportive people for what I am going through.

I work construction and this kept me pretty steady with weight but when I moved into the office I gained 25 pounds over about five years. It happened so gradually I didn't notice until I saw a picture of my daughter and I at her HS graduation. My face was fat!

So I hopped into the pool and was shocked at how little I could do. I swam in HS and thought I could swim as long as I could walk. WRONG! I started working out regularly and built my workout to 2000 meters freestyle and 500 meters kick board three times a week. In six months I lost all the weight I gained. Then I started building noticable muscle. My girl tops were stretched to the max. They were loose around the waist but my arms and chest were making it difficult to wear some of my favorite tops. Like this black one... Oh well...
