I guess I know as well as anyone the problems that can come from being in therapy dealing with the issues that arise when considering transitioning and then suddenly dropping out. But, I did it anyway. Its funny what sent me back after not going since December- a need for help dealing with a number of physical problems that have risen recently. But, sitting and talking to my therapist today and catching her up on what has happened in the last seven months, the physical problems werent all we talked about. I realized that it wasnt even the issues about transitioning I missed talking about, but having someone to talk to about everything, who wouldnt have some kind of axe to grind. And yes, of course we talked about transitioning, but I had forgotten how much good it did for me. if you are reading this and are thinking about therapy, or are in it and thinking about dropping out, please think it over. I know not all therapists and counselors are as good as mine, but having someone to talk to totally outside the rest of your life and can help you sort things out is invaluable.

Isn't that the truth. Talking to my therapist has been so very very helpful, as i move forward in life.

I make visits to my therapist whenever I get to feeling confused or uncomfortable or indecisive. That's one expense I don't mind paying.I also talk to others [friends of Bill W.] and that helps too.

one thing that makes it dumb that I wouldnt go when I need to is that I have only a $5 copay. Of course my insurance wouldnt cover it if they knew it was for tg issues, but she is a specialist in a number of areas... I consider myself blessed in a number of ways on this...

I do a session and try for at least once every two weeks, usually once a week. I find that if nothing else my therapist is someone I can talk to and bounce things off of when I have nobody else available. She acts as a kind of relief valve a lot of the time...........Stephanie

I only see my psychologist usually once every two months, but I seen her today to pick up my SRS referral
letter and she insisted booking me in for appointments each month now until I go in October just in case I
have any pre-surgery anxiousness and issues to deal with. She feels confident that I will be fine but wants
to keep the door open for me just in case something goes wrong at the last minute or anything.
It is nice and reassuring that she really does care so much and puts you first when you are about
to take such an important step as SRS. So when you find good support, hang onto it with your life
because you just never know if and when you will need it.

I like imagining a world where therapy was covered 100% for all citizens.
:)
I can't imagine though how things would be if I hadn't started seeing my therapist, it's such an amazing relief to have someone you can trust to talk to.
Currently I go twice a month at $100 per session and it's totally worth the cost, even if I have to keep selling all of my junk to continue. :)
