I have just returned from a 10 day vacation in Orlando with the family (SO & her two children - 17 yr old girl, 12 y ear old boy). My SO has always know about my femme side (and is very supportive), but one condition when we got together was that I keep it hidden from the kids. So my dilemma while on vacation - how to go in the pool with painted toes!!

My SO and I talked about it, and she said that if I was ok with the "grief" the kids would give me, then it was ok to let them see my toes. So, first day there, I did just that. Put on my flip-flops and went down to the pool - the kids were already there. After a few minutes, her daughter saw my toes and had a minor freak out!! She of course asked me, and her mom, about it - and we explained its just something I like to do, and that it doesn't change who I am / who she has come to know over the past 5 years. We gave the same explanation to her 12 year old son - he just looked at me and said "you're such a girl sometimes".

And that was the END of it. For the rest of the vacation, nothing more was said!!

So I got to spend 10 great days in sandals and flip-flops, with painted toes, and made no effort what so ever to hide them - at the pool, around the resort, in town shopping & dining, at Disney, etc.

Oh, and not a thing was said by anyone else anywhere either. I kept a watch for any reactions from anyone - and nada, not a thing. So for you ladies that worry about it, I can honestly say that in 10 days 100% of the public that I came into contact with had absolutely no reaction at all - I couldn't even tell if anyone noticed!! (and that includes waxed everywhere also). So ladies - don't worry about it, go out and enjoy :-)

Kids are so much brighter than we give them credit for. It makes me feel ashamed that I haven't shared my CD side with my adult kids who probably know but don't say anything showing more respect for me than I've been showing to them.

Congrats to you and your family.

Sorry; But I very rarely look at toe nails when I am out and about.
I check out Hair and Clothes, or lack there of by a pool.
