Today, I met and talked to a transwoman for over an hour and a half. This is the first time I have actually met face to face with another person who understands me like that. It was both odd and wonderful. Odd in that she is mid transition (the awkward part I fear the most), and wonderful in that I didn't have to hide anything. In a strange way, I wish we had less in common. Knowing how similar our stories are indicates where I am likely to go with this.

That is great Anna!
Quite a relief when you can finally talk to someone face-to-face who gets this stuff! BTW, there are a lot of resources and friends here in Nor Cal.

Lol, no, but if ever I am down in the Bay Area on business, I would be happy to meet you. And BTW, in my opinion you are doing great. The woman I met tonight is still in a very androgynous stage, but seems pretty happy.

OMG, she didn't scratch you with her nails or bite your neck did she? It is contagious you know. Very contagious. If you're not careful you will turn in to one.
Wonderful and odd is a good description. My physician is TS and having an open conversation face to face with no explanations, terminology, or conceptual issues in the way is very freeing. For me, the oddness comes from letting the conversation flow while still feeling the pull of holding back.

I have found women who have travelled this road to be the most valuable sources of information, direction, and advice, both here on the forum and in person. All of my critical decisions have been influenced in large extent by others who know this journey by experience. That is why it is so troubling and makes me so mad that the actions of a few around here have driven away some of our best allies. Look around- you know who they are, because they aren't here anymore. Call it "post-op elitism" if you must - i call it the voice of experience. More people should shut up and listen to those who kno wt the hellthey are talking about.
Yes, this is a sore spot with me......

I have a transwoman friend that I hang out with. She and I have a blast together. It is nice knowing that I am not alone. She is a year and a half on HRT and gives me hope that one day I will finally be able to start.
I am glad that you can have that. It really does make all the difference. I am so happy for you.
