I don't know what I identify, whether you class me as a woman, or a transwoman. And I don't care. Before my transition I was miserable and lacked self confidence. But now I'm happier than I ever have been before, have so much confidence in myself, and have stronger relationships with my friends and family than I could have ever thought possible.
You can call me what you like. I'm happy just being me. And I fully intend to continue on this course.
I may not be the most feminine transgirl you meet or the prettiest but God damnit Im at least a runnerup for the most progress made in emotional state.
I have learnt so much from my transition, stuff no cis-gender could ever fully understand, suffering no one should experience.
And Im proud to say Im trans.
WHO IS WITH ME!?

And you should be proud Melissa. It takes extream courage, strength, and conviction to transition. I would classify you as, Melissa.

I'm no more "transsexual and proud" than I am "brown haired and proud" :P

I'm just proud to be ME!

I may not be pretty or as beautiful as other girls but I am a lot happier than most of them. And I am very proud of who I am as a person now.

I am very proud that you are so happy with who you are, your recognizing what you needed to do, and the work you did to get there. I am proud of myself even as I recognize that my future has become very unsettled, and my recognizing and accepting that being trans is a possibility without reservations, gives me a good feeling because regardless of where I will progress to, it will be such a happy state, even if I do not move one step from where I am today. I have no reservations about uncertainty anymore.

I think this statement and the OP show women with a healthy reality check. It is always too easy to compare ourselves to others and feel we come up short (especially when we don't know the extent of the low parts of their lives).

Just a note to toss in at this point. You can go on to do or be whatever you like in your life. I know for many it seems like there is no future but believe me, there is. The economy sucks right now and jobs are tight but it won't always be that way. I did it and I know many others that have done it. Being Trans is not a sentence to poverty for the rest of your life.

Ahhhh The ups and downs of transition.. The only bad thing about the "ups" is that they seem to make the "downs" sting just a little bit more.

Not quite sure how to reconcile these statements in your OP.

However, I am neither ashamed of my transition nor of my decision to advocate Trans rights. Does that make me "with" you? Or does that make me "with" your last statement? Or something else?

Regardless of labels, you have intrinsic value as a human being. Pride, happiness, contentment or whatever we call it, comes from recognizing and believing in our self-worth. Hang onto that through thick and thin.
