I had my last check-up with GYN before SRS and she reviewed all my blood work and I NOW have ZERO-NADA-NO-NONE "Free Testosterone." They could not find ANY trace whatsoever!
Each blood test it has been coming down lower and lower until "puff" gone!

I thought the adrenal glands or something produced a little testosterone...
I thought the normal testosterone range for females was like 5-45 or something...
Mine is somewhere around 20 a few months after my orchie.

We are talking about "Free" Testosterone and it's not there anymore. I have been "<0.5" for well over a year and finally it dropped to "0.0pg/nl" I am looking at the blood report as I type and it reads "Female <2.6 pg/nl" for RANGE. My GYN said that for what we are trying to accomplish that is great. She also told me that "Free Testosterone" will weaken your bones but that I will never have that problem for the rest of my life.
Not a trace of pesky masculinity.......what can be better! YEY!!!!!!

The normal female levels are 30-95 ng/dl. Symptoms of levels that are too low include fatigue, hot flashes, decreased sex drive, depression, amenorrhea and loss of muscle mass or strength.

That sounds very unhealthy and like a doctor that doesn't know what they're doing

I tend to agree, males and females always naturally produce cross-sex hormones and this
is so the body can maintain a healthy balance. And I have heard that having too low of a
testosterone level will also cause you problems. SRS will not reduce your testosterone levels
to zero either because the body's endocrine system can still produce the hormone and release
it through other mechanisms in the body, including the adipose tissue (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adipose_tissue). However one thing is
certain after SRS and that is there will be less of a need for anti-androgens in your hormone
therapy regime, and personally this is something I am really looking forward to because I am
concerned about the long term side effects of taking these medications.

Pamela, are you talking about "Total T" or "Free T"? I am talking "Free T". I have blood tests every 3 months and no matter what lad does the tests, it always shows "Female <2.6 pg/nl" as the range for "Free T." I think you are talking about "Total Testosterone."
My muscle mass has decreased and my GYN is having me do exercises (walking with "light weight" dumb bells in my hands) to tone up my arms, legs, and overall strength including a stronger heart so that I am in the best shape I can be in for my SRS. I think my doctor knows full well what she is talking about. She is far from an intern, I can promise you that.

yeah Traci you are correct there are really 2 T tests that we should all have done one is the FSH test and the other is your TSH test. According to what my Doc and my Endo have told me, a generic Female's FSH levels should be nonexistent. an adult male on average is 1 to 12 units to be fertile. menstating women can peak at 30 and most post-menaposal women can be up in low 100s but rare. The there is the TSH test. according to what they told me most males are over 200 some way over 500. a female with thyroid issues can be in the 40's to 90's. Thats where I am now after 2 and half years. and most females are less then 40. So I guess everyone is right :-)

Traci, good for you. I presume that your total T is in an appropriate range. I also assume you are not having any of the problems associated with extremely low T. Good luck to you and keep us informed................Stephanie

No problems whatsoever. Well other than the obvious from long term use of mega dosages of Spiro. And that side-effect was most welcomed of all.

I hope that the leg cramps you had a long while back have gone away now... did you raise your salt or drinking water?

No! I still have to take muscle relaxers. From my last blood tests my salt is still low but higher that it was in the previous blood tests. My doctor keeps telling me to consume more salt. I do think however, that after my SRS in less that 50 days, that problem will disappear since I won't be on mega dosages of Spiro.
I am surprised you remembered those two issues.
