I've been kinda playing with an idea in my head the past week or so.

As an IT girl, I run a lot of websites and do Site hosting and programing. With that in mind a large portion of CD/TV/TG sites that I look at for tips and ideas for my "look" are down or ofline.

Most are on yahoo or geocities and are full of pop ups and banners ( free ain't so free) anyhow I was wondering how many girls would be interested in posting photos on a managed site.

No cost to the poster and secure password protected etc or would it be worth 1-5 dollars a month. Theres nothing I hate more than when you find a girl who has similar features to your own and you go to look at her page and its gone or "bandwith exceeded" is the message.

Just a thought..........

what about putting into this site to for a Image repository? If this was an option

Unless you have alot of money to contribute or the site remains very small you would have to charge something. Space and bandwidth are not free. Would not need to be expensive though.

My thought was not so much on what to charge, a couple of dollars if that. I have several servers so bandwith really isn't a problem.

I just get frustrated going to 50 sites then battleing a million pop ups and banners littering the site that i just want to quit looking.

I was just thinking that if a site had an easy to navigate menu and was somthing by CD's for CD's it couldnt hurt.

not to mention a lot of people have difficulty with photo sizing and layout. somthing that could be a showcase etc.

The only problem with charging is that if the S/O happened to see the Credit card bill or cancelled check we would be SCREWED. I like the idea otherwise.

Paypal would not help either it raises questions.

Not to rain on your parade Michelle, it is a good idea - but there are already several services like you mention out there already. The one I use has passwords and security, you can rotate, resize, jpg compress, etc your pix, get a pretty good amount of bandwidth and transfer, and they have plans from free to paid. I pay $5 per month and have never come close to my monthly bandwidth, even after posting lots of pix here.

Still, if you wanna do this, I say go for it....

Here is the initial design: What do you girls think?

Sweet Susan

I'll tell you what I think. The gal in the upper-left hand corner, the red head. She's a knock-out. That's what I think.

Dana, how much is $% per month? Is that a typo, five bucks, percentage bucks, or 96 bucks?

A couple of other forums I'm on already have photo galleries. So I voted yes.

Looks great to me. Would ther be a cost for browsing or is the cost for the person storing the photos?

I hav'nt decided yet. Since several girls don't want their So, etc. to find out It probably will have a secure side requireing a small fee to veiw ???? or the inverse a small fee to store photos.

Thats why I'm asking for input here since it would be for our comunity (crossdressers) that way those that don't have the ability to do the tech stuff have someone who will help them.

I planned to have a page/gallery/bio for each girl who wanted one. Any ideas or thoughts are welcome though....

Michelle.... What kind of resolution can we use for storage. Some sizes limit you to a certain size to conserve storage and bandwidth.

Now all I need are some decent pictures.

Hi Joanne,

The only limitations I would put would be to maintain consistancy. Images not jumping off the screen and such. It really depends on how large/small the original is.

JoAnnDallas

I guess it depends on what your trying to do. If it is for a avatar then 50-100K is about right. If you are going for glamor the 2-4M is about right. This is what most digital camera make for a 98% Photo Realistic Image.

That why I was asking.

christine55
01-17-2006, 02:50 PM
Joann, the only reason you would need such a large size for an online pic is if
the intended use of the image is for someone to download and print. Monitors only have 72 dpi resolution so anything greater than that, as far as viewing on a computer, there is no improvement.

A small monthly fee, which includes both viewing and posting might be a good idea, if for no other reason than to keep out the wrong people.

that was kinda what I was thinking, It keeps kids and "prying eyes" from getting in. I think somthing like 5 dollars a month would be fair.

i think that this is a great idea. i also think that if you change a small fee and "cenor" who you let in that would be something i am intested in. the main problum i find with these sites are:

crossdresser admiers who are just grose and make me feel uncomfortable
crossdressers who crossdress for "sexual reasons" who then show inaproprate picutres of them selfs
add for pornagraphic sites
fees costing more than $5
she males and ts instead of just crossdressers

now let me claify something here, i might be alone when i say this but i don't find it attractive to see someones "stuff" in panties, i enjoy clean, cute crossdressers.

well hope this helps,
elisha

elishaishott_19,

I agree with you. From my perspective I'll try to answer your concerns.

1. Admierers can be gross, and disrespectfull so I had not planned on adding direct email from the site, a form / redirect to mask actual adresses. Sadly if you have people that think your're "HOT" you have to take the good with the bad ??

2. That was the purpose of a "managed gallery site" to prevent the "riff raff" from posting anything that was not tastful. Glamor style, fasion, makup tips and helpful information where we can show off our craft.

3. I hate "banner sites/ pop up traps" so There will be none of those on any site I do, ever.

4. I'm still trying to come up with a priceing structure that is fair/reasonable. Primarily just to keep pirates and kids and the like out. People who are not interested in us or our life will not pay or stick around so I think it might be a benifit.

5. I did'nt want to exclude anyone, some of the preformers out there could offer some helpful advice to us. see 2 above.

I hope this helps, any other thoughts are greatly apreciated......

When you join a open site that the public can view you take the good and the bad.your always going to have a few that look at things in a different perspective than your own,And there intitled to do so.you cant condem a site because some one comes in becomes a member makes a few P.Ms to some one they feel is striking and poof there gone.Im not going to pay for a site to store pics in for my own viewing.Im far from glamerous and to be frank i cant see spending big bucks on some one else doing my make up and hair for a few pics that i can do my self and posting them. I wouldnt feel rite it wouldnt be the real me.I may be one of the few here that are open and theres no hiding for me so if im out in the open again i cant see doing some thing like you have all sugested.this forum has been good to all us us it has givin all of us a home when we needed one.The mods do a terrific job here to keep the riff raf down to a very very small level. And when you all sighned on this is a m-t-f /f-t-m tv/ts and there admirersso how come you are all disanchanted. this site offers make up/a number of resourses, and picture areas that we all can post to make our own threads ect.I been here for over a year and im perficly content.Im not trying to be negitive here but it sounds like every one wants a perfict site and there isnt any they all have a flaw or two.So good luck on your hunt Il take my chances here.

I use a photo hosting site at Village Photos (http://www.villagephotos.com/). For $5 a month, I get:
* 800 images up to 3MB each
* 6000 MB monthly transfer (that would be 60000 100K image downloads)
* Online tools include captioning, URL protection, private/public galleries, resizing of images, jpg compression and image rotation

I have used this service for over 2 years, and as far as I know it has never been down. And even though I post images here, I have never used even half of my monthly transfer. There are cheaper plans there too....

Village photos is not specific to us though. I had actually envisioned a similar plan as what you have over there.

There is'nt a bio page either or tips and tricks specific to our needs. These are things that I also want to include.

Thanks for your input though Dana.

 I think it is a good idea if it is controlled. I know a group that I belong to from Long Island called femmefever that has a couple of photo galleries. Since I am still in the closet and can not afford to have a professional makeover I have not had my picture taken, and besides I no longer live there so it is a moot point now.

your initial design is wonderful, and i voted yes to the idea. however, do you have the time to look at all the pics and be sure that the pics are relative and aspiring to other members. it would be a very bad thing if it became sexual instead of inspiring.

on a site i belonged to in the past a girl looked so much like me i thought it was my own pic, however she had a pair of earrings that i do not, she looked quite lovely, same dress and hair. i searched forever to find those earrings in catalogs and never have
