Not a problem here....:heehee: Concur that you have to allow your body time to adjust to the meds. Sometimes it may even mean switching to another BP med.

I am in the middle of adjusting my BP meds and I do feel run down more, have less energy but I do know it is a period of getting used to them. I have been increasing the dosage for the last 2 months to bring my BP into a correct range and getting the BP right is the important thing, especially now that I'm getting braver with my dressing and I want to be around for a long time and wear lots of pretty things.

No problems here either. I wonder if it is more an underlying issue of not being well sapping your energy.

Mind you, I wonder if you have stumbled on the magic pill.

Adjusting BP can have a big impact on feeling well, and I would just give it some time to adjust and get it right. Been on several over the years, and I can tell you that just being on BP meds does not reduce the desire to dress.

Grace, have been on blood pressure medication and cholesterol medication for several years now, it took a while to get my system used to the change of the blood pressure and the energy levels. Just remember to take your blood pressure medication at night so that it is begun to drop back down by the time the day moves on.
After finally getting the dosage right and the cholesterol medication right I to had a low interest CD and hardly any energy. After about three months and a complete change in my diet I started feel little bit better, I joined a gym and worked out three days a week, just lightweights in the treadmill. I still find that if I take my blood pressure medication in the morning I feel like I fell apart for the whole day.
The best advice I can offer, and the best way to face it is to take your medication change your diet, get some exercise and think about what you eat and drink. Just remember it doesn't matter what you wear in a coffin.
good luck, Wonderwho

I ended up on cholesterol and blood pressure medicine and took them faithfully for 4 months but also felt terrible and had severe pains in the kidneys and liver a few times so stopped them. I just thought the side effects were not worth the additional problems. I just read an article where doctors are over prescribing these meds and they have little proven effect in preventing heart attacks and strokes. Better to exercise and adjust diets.
You are right though you feel sluggish, depressed and low desire to do anything. You are not alone.

If you are taking BP or Cholesterol medication, you should be seeing a Cardiologist, not a regular Doctor. And if you are taking those medications and have any problems, you need to see the Cardiologist immediately!! Regular doctors may be over prescribing medication, but a Cardiologist rarely will. And the right BP medication can prevent heart attacks and strokes. Properly given medications should not cause side effects, if you follow your doctors orders!

I have been taking BP medication for about 35 years, and Diabetes oral medication for at least 10 years. Yes, I did have some problems when I first started taking the BP meds, but my Cardiologist took care of that right away.

Stephanie's got that right. Your possibly having postural hypotension, (what happens when you rise up out of your bed in The Morning?) Or, there's a lot of allergy problems going around right now, specially' down here in The South. Your sinuses, if they are full of crud, can also cause a lot of inner ear problems, and THEN you can also get dizzy from that too.

But, you tell The Doc about it first thing in The AM. He's probably going to adjust your meds, check your carotid's, and order several other tests. But, that's OK. It sure beats The Possible Alternatives. Don't play around, it could be serious!

Now, another alternative explanation for your feeling low. Your probably recently diagnosed with all this stuff, and it is natural for human's to go through a "grieving process." Whenever we lose something, we grieve, whether we consciously realize it or not. In this Case, you may be grieving about among other things, a loss of youth, diminishing health, fears of impotence from the drugs, and a loss of intimacy. Now those are just a few of the things you might perceive as a loss. If you want to spend a lot of time stewing over it, you could probably come up with many more. Ultimate Result? The Grieving will Depress you...make you feel low. Do not be surprised, after you talk it over with Doc, that there might be an Rx for Antidepressants. You probably won't have to stay on them forever, there's an adjustment process, and then we tend to "even out."

If you get feeling really bad, start having thoughts about suicide, get to your Doc ASAP. and start raising a holler! You can cope with all of this. It can, and will get better. Just hang in there!

Peace and Love, Joanie

PS. Thought of another possibility for The Hypotension. Your not taking any kind of Prostate Medicine are you? Prescription and some of the Herbal remedies for Prostate Problems also lower The BP. If you combine them with BP meds, you can often get a very bad outcome, cause The B.P. gets too low. If you didn't remember to tell The Doctor before, tell him now!

Thanks again for encouragement, I 'am going to cardiologest this mourning. I haven't every felt this bad, perfect blood work results, but let me add I think all relates to ear infection. Back a few weeks ago I was putting alt. on large truck during 105 degree day got exhausted, that evening after shower noticed blood from ear. I called my daughter who is a apractioner for obgyn Dr. She insisted I go to dr. i went the next mouring 1st. he noted was i had high bp 159/95, didn't seam to care much about ear infection said it was about cleared up gave ear drops but started me on bp meds 10mg Lisinopril, come back in 5 days, wasn't low enough so he changed to25 mg. Said ear looked fine, but detected A/fib on ekg . Thought I should get Echo at hospital. Well Grace and Lucy had plans for that weekend Street rod Nationals in Louieville K. Had a blast as Grace went out at night with Lucy(wife). to casino across the river. We returned home sat. night woke up Sun. 5a.m. to storm as I got up , went right to ground room spinning took blood pres. 209/110 thought this was it!!! Well calmed down, bp started dropping but could not stand any movement i thought this was due to med change could not get into dr. for 2days My dr. went on vacation, so could not even walk let alone drive car.dr said i had vertego and would go away in about 1to 2 weeks. Went to hospital and had echo, only issue was a slightly larger aorta. But still feel like crap. Sorry for long post but just bringing everone up to speed. love to all Grace

I'm a long time user of oral BP and cholesterol medications. Since taking them I can't perform in that one certain area vital to most marriages. My wife doesn't seem to mind. As far as CDing I don't mind losing that aspect at all.

I've been on BP meds for years, with no change in CDing urges.

Sudden vertigo from rising is likely due to a quick change in BP. If it was high while asleep and you stood quickly, the pressure in your head likely dropped too fast, and down you went.

Do you have, or been checked for sleep apnea? This can cause an increase in BP at night, among other problems. If you check it regularly during the day at it's OK, and it changes at night while asleep, apnea could be the cause.

My wife has had afib for years.... and takes a ton of drugs for it... spent the first year or longer running to the ER when she would have an episode... finally they got her meds straightened out.... so its going to take time.... better take care of it and don't worry about what you are or aren't wearing.... that or they might find you dead in a pretty pink dress!
