Do you have a favorite CD or TG role model who inspires you? If so, who is it and why?

I like the artist Marcel Duchamp's alter ego, Rrose Sélavy.
He was an amazing artist, though very wacky and often incoherent. I admire most aspects of Duchamp's genius, and Rrose is just another reason to admire him.

"Rrose Sélavy", also spelled Rose Sélavy, was one of Duchamp's pseudonyms. The name, a pun, sounds like the French phrase "Eros, c'est la vie", which may be translated as "Eros, such is life." It has also been read as "arroser la vie" ("to make a toast to life").

I don't even know of many CD or TG individuals with any sort of notoriety, but there are a number of TG and TS members here that provide ongoing inspiration and encouragement by their examples. I will spare them the embarrassment of mentioning their names ;)

Every TS who has made the journey and is now happy in their life inspires me. BUT, my first and best model was (and is ) Wendy Carlos. 99% here don't know her but almost everyone knows her work. I am not inspired by CD's in general. Because most do not take it seriously. When it comes to famous CD's I am like Stealer's Wheel...clowns to the left of me jokers to the right. (NB I said FAMOUS CD's.) The people here who are my inspiration and role models? Most the ones who are out and about and doing things to make being a TG something the world should see. The list includes but is not limited to... Karren, witty, sly pretty and helpful. Kimberly...admire her flying and being "out" in public. Sam-antha, the original :) VioletGrey, funny pretty. JessicaWho, funny pretty also. My "sister" Miranda (we been here about the same time). I feel like I am at the Tony's...I know I am forgetting some. So many have come and gone that were inspirations.:whew!:

SO many FtM's, MtF's TS. Kellycan27...My ideal :) And Tamara Croft for making it all happen.:worship: (OK she isn't a TG but ....

I have been inspired by many members within this very forum. Stories of self-discovery, courage, compassion, love, and hope abound within the hallowed electronic internet pages of the forum. Before I joined the membership and began participating, I was lost. I was completely, totally, and utterly lost, with very little hope of finding myself. The funny thing is, I did not recognize the direness of my situation until I really began looking at myself, others, society, and the world in a different light. Members of this forum have helped open my eyes to many truths, and offered strength, compassion, wisdom, and support when I have needed it most. I am a much different person than I was pre-membership. I am a more authentic person. I am more real. I am more me than I have ever been before in my life. And this is so because of the inspiration, the education, and the support I have received from the membership, and those many here within that I view as my role models. I appreciate, love, and thank each and every one of you! :-)

HAH! I dropped by this thread to mention Wendy Carlos.
Getting in the way-back machine ... when I was in college back in the early 90's, I discovered the tiny little computer lab the music department had. I was literally an old DX7 and a single old-school black and white toaster mac. We used to have to do our ear-training in there, but it didn't take me long to discover the sequencing software that was also installed on it ... and before long I was skipping classes and spending all night in there making my masterpieces.

Late one night, my music theory teacher stopped by and handed me two CDs ... "Switched On Bach" and the original Tron soundtrack and he said "listen to this, and stop skipping my class". LOL.

A few years later I learned her backstory, it was probably the first time I ever heard of a TS person who was not somehow involved with the porn industry ... and who wasn't just a normal person, but an exceptional person.

she's an inspiring lady alright :-)

Thank you.. I am flattered, and yup... a little embarrassed. Personally my biggest inspiration is a woman who began to transition in early 80's before I was even born. Her name is Sara.. a pilot for a major commercial airline. I had the pleasure to work with her some 20 years ( give or take) after her journey in Los Angeles. I stood in awe of her confidence and self assurance as well as her kind and gentleness. She once told me..... if I can do this anyone can.

Sorry! I can't think of them without tearing up! I'm SO IMPRESSED with u girls! U TS's ALL rock way beyond the meaning of that word!

The best thing is, they won't even read this! Because they're too busy living their new lives to visit here anymore! I SIMPLY LOVE IT when the chicks leave the nest!

I feel as Anne2345 does. The members of this forum impress me. Maybe not every story, but most. There are heartaches, courage, sadness, joy, discovery, help, compassion, openness, beauty and friendship expressed in just about every thread.

I have no role models.

I'm going to leave it at that. I had a long reply, but thought best to just say, that I have no role models.

Wow Lori..thank you for the mention. Never thought of myself as being an inspiration to anyone! :o But I will say that I do agree with those that Lori mentioned, and Lori herself who has been supportive and an inspiration to me since I joined this wonderful community (and I'm not saying this just because she mentioned me...Lori, you really have been an inspiration, not only for me but for many here :hugs:). There is also one other who has inspired me and that is Jenee Davis who encouraged me to attend my first Be-All conference. She's an infrequent visitor here, but those of you that have been here for a while will know who I'm referring to.

I will ad a P.S. to this post. Until this thread I never heard of Wendy Carlos, so I Googled her. She really is a complete artist! An excellent role model for anyone.

There is a woman named Melanie, in CA. that wrote her diary and posted it on line.
I cant find it now but she told of her life and trials all through SRS.
She is such an amazing woman and she is the one person I would love to meet someday and give her a big hug.

Here is the link to her Diaries

I would just generalize and say that I admire everyone who paved the way for me to be able to venture out and be myself in society.
From Christine Jorgensen on they all had courage and conviction and made things so much easier for me and my sisters.

All the women on this site that have courage to be out and about. You have the ability to make all of us want to be better people. Also those that have made the transition and are living a happy life.
