I recently was a "lurker", and also recently registered. It was the best decision I could have made! There are sooo many friendly and helpful people here, very little to no drama, ( for the most part), and some really great fashion, and crossdressing tips! These people know what they are talking about! Just a piece of advice for you newcomers, watch out for Stacy B, she will sneak up on you and goose you when you aren't looking lol. Join us! ^_^

I started out as a lurker, I was too scared.
I went through a series of progressions before I realized that This is a very important side of me.
I have also met many on this forum in person , and became close friends.
Now, I go out anytime I feel like it, and can't wait to go out again. I've been treated great in every sector of the public so far.
I'm hoping we can set an example for those who are afraid to come out.

I lurked for one hour before I jumped in and joined this site. Hence the stupid name I had to come up with in order to join. I couldn't think of anything off the top of my head.

That name I have is going to be out the door soon!

WHen I first started, only one year ago, I was a basket case with no basket to hide in. Totally shocked with the other sites, and knew i was not cut out for them. When i found this site, I lurked, waiting for the inevitable gotcha, but the more i lurked, the more I realized this was the place to be to learn who I was.

It takes a pair to admit who you are and join the group.

The only GOTCHA here is dear Stacy B, so watch out.

Barbara

No porn, dating and no one bites?
Why am I here?
I do not think I have read a misleading post here without it being corrected further down the list.
A lot of posters are not completely anonymous either.
There are a couple of admins who bite, and they have definite views.
That is why this great, balanced and correctly informative site is like it is.

Step outta line and POW!:)

I lurked for ages, finally joined and have now come to realise, i'm not really a joiner. I'm too antisocial and find most of the threads on here don't pique my interest so am prolly gonna be a registered lurker. Not a fault of the folks on here as they can be very supportive and do give good advice. I'm a firm believer in "If you have nothing to say, say nothing".

Like many I lurked for ages, scared that if I joined then the world would know who/what I am; a frightening prospect to a closet dresser. Having taken that step I quickly realised no-one came knocking at the door with a rope, no Troll emails, no odd glances from friends and colleagues in fact life just when on as usual. The one change? A door opened into a world of help and enlightenment, a place to share problems and thoughts. Somewhere to offer support and to be supported.

If you're reading this because you CD then go on, take that next step and become part of a wonderful community. You have nothing to loose and so much to gain.

And on a techy note;if you're afraid that there will be a tell tale footprint left on your PC, when you exit the site it clears any cookies so apart from your history list which you can clear each time, no-one will find incriminating evidence (as long as you don't book mark the site).

Some (half? many?) of the "visitors" here and on any other site are web crawlers .. the search bots that crawl the web indexing sites for search engines. The larger the site, the more visitors it gets, the more search bots will keep up with all the changes.

That too. There must be tons of members who do this. I've done it off and on as well if I'm out somewhere and I have 10-15 minutes to kill.

Mostly I just wanted to make sure that it was a legitimate resource and not a front for a porn/hook-up service.

I learned something new today!

Another interesting tidbit is, if you look at "Who's Online" under Quick Links above, there is a listing of everyone who is currently logged in. But after this are pages and pages of "guests". If you click on the links they are currently reading, you'll see that many are in the archives, as old as 2005. Seems to me if someone is lurking because they're not sure if they should join or they're looking someone up whom they suspect are members here, they'd tend to look more at current Index pages and threads, and not stuff that is up to seven years old.

I've no idea if this is some sort of glitch, or even what type of glitch it might be. But I suspect that the number of human, real time people who are lurking here for whatever reason, are much fewer than we think, especially if you also subtract from the "visitors", the web crawler programs and the registered members who are looking at the site quickly on their smart phones without logging in.

Uh, nope. Both firefox and chrome both are default set up to allow third party cookies, and they can track where you go. Then one day surprise, surprise, you'll get spam offering you transvestite clothing in your email, or a new pair of pumps when you go shopping at amazon. Take it one further, Microsoft's browser hides your history in other places than where you will expect. If for any reason law enforcement should find reason to suspect you of a crime and they get into your computer, there will be tracks left telling where you've been. Consider also, the parts where it offeres to fill in forms as you type, remember user names and passwords, etc.. It all get saved somewhere on your computer, if not also in 'the cloud'. Want to see who's tracking you? Try installing Ghostery. You'll get a little purple box in the upper right hand corner of each new web page you visit, and it will tell you who's tracking you. #1? Google. Google tracks a whole lot of things. Don't ever take your privacy for granted. Remember, Inquiring minds want to know (people simply love gossip)!

I had to sign off to check; sure enough 'Google analytics' tracks you when you leave here.

I joined a long time ago and posted a couple of threads and then I was 'Locked out". No, I did not do anything wrong and it wasn't because of something I posted, it was because i used Aol mail and didn't post. I enjoy this site very much and always enjoy reading the posts on here.

Before joining as Jesse69 I lurked for 3 months. Initially I was hesitant because I thought this site would just get me into my bad habit of crossdressing MORE. Well, it did get me into more crossdressing as well as it greatly improved my crossdressing. I learned about forms and wigs here, and then gradually this forum helped me to be very passable and to be able to shop as a woman. All before I was just a "guy in a dress..." I never thought I could ever look like a woman in women's clothes!

OMG, so many confessed lurkers here, I am sure there is a Lurker program at the John Hopkins Transgender Studies Psychology Department.

What I am interested in knowing, how many of this lurkers are simply first time curious TGs who decided to poke through the denial blanket to just see for a moment that there are others just like them selves.

When I joined this site about three years ago, or more, it took me a good year to actually step out my front door dressed as female.
Nowadays , I go anywhere and everywhere. It got easier. Now it's completely natural, and I get irritated if I don't get the chance to go out. I need this side of me.

After 20 months of not getting a haircut, and a year's worth of laser beard removal, I feel like the girl I have always been, and so far it feels great!

The reality is I never thought such thing was possible........then I took some risks , and won. This girl side ain't never going away......she is me.
