How can we then overlook one of the most out-there crossdressers in all of Hollywood? Bugs Bunny! (Though Elmer Fudd was caught on camera wearing a dress often enough as well.)

We may have to talk and wonder about possible celebs.
Can you imagine this scenario.
My name is Gracie I am new to this forum, I used to be Governor of California.
My problem is I do not pass well as I am 6 pick handles wide and weigh a ton.
I starred in a film once with some kindergarten kids.
I find it hard to find dresses and shoes to fit me and I am curious as to whether I would pass without a lot of makeup.
You may find it hard to work out who the individual is so we will have to rely on heresay, rumor and innuendo in this thread.:)

Here's one most of the readers probably never heard of: Irving Thalberg. Managed Universal Studios at age 20 and then joined Mayer to create the M-G-M Studios. Produced well known motion pictures of the 1930s and the Irving F Thalberg Award is still in existence as Thalbeerg was one of the founders of the Motion Picture Academy. His wife, Norma Shearer, was a famous star of her day. It was a fact that when husband and wife had dinner alone in their mansion in Beverly Hills the servants would serve them in their huge dining room with Irving dressed en femme in splendid gowns as was Norma (The wealthy always dressed in suit and tie or gowns in those years. ---- and that's the rest of the story.

I believe the J Edgar Hoover rumor was debunked, but he most certainly had a very close male companion for most of his life.

Eddie Izzard is an obvious one. There's also David Walliams, Alex Reid, Andrew O'Neil (not really a celeb but he is a professional comedian who's been on TV a few times). Kurt Cobain was a crossdresser as well I think, oddly it was never really picked up on though.

Former multi division world champion boxer Oscar de la Hoya! There are many pics online of him with female escorts and him dressed. Initially the pics were strongly denied and claimed to be photo shopped. His lawyers from Golden Boy promotions sued a few hookers for defamation. Cases dropped.

A few months ago in a tv interview (pardon the pun) he finally fessed up but blamed it on drugs and alcohol. The obvious question - if the dressing part was unplanned with the hookers - was where the size ten heels came from in the hotel room? He was wearing heels in the pics...

Smoke. Fire. Crossdresser!

The current governor of Oklahoma is a woman, and the one before her was a guy about 5 feet five or six (I'm guessing from seeing him in person). He was maybe a little chubby, but not as wide as you have described. What town in Oklahoma did you live in? I live in Muskogee.

Not strictly a crossdresser but I appeared with Sean Bean on 'Tracies Story', BBC drama Accused series 2 recently. For those who don't know, Sean Bean played a crossdressing teacher who ended up in 'the dock' accused of being a part of a murder.

I was supposed to play his double but they realized I wasn't tall enough. Someone else got the part but then the scenes were edited out anyway.
To be honest I thought it was a poor story, it lacked substance. I bought a £120 Laura Ashley dress for that day, I laughed when my mother-in-law borrowed the dress for a wedding a few weeks later, I'll show her the photo's one day LOL

Movie song-and-dance man Dan Dailey comes to mind. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0197314/bio) I remember him mainly as the father/governor in the short-lived CBS TV series "The Governor & J.J." in the late '60s.

When an actor dresses as a woman for a part, they almost always say how much they enjoyed it and want to keep the clothes. I wonder how much they then take to dressing at home (assuming they didn't before)? I also recall an interview with Max Clifford who said he had kept the names of four politicians out of the papers for cross-dressing. All, he said, were household names. Looks like he did his job well. This was in the last parliament -don't know if they are still MPs.

Given the number of openly gay celebs, it is interesting to see that cross-dressing is still not open, even in a profession where you would think it would be OK.

By the way I remember reading recently that a man (I forget who) was the first man to appear on the cover of Cosmo. He wasn't. That was Boy George, but he was completely dressed as a woman in a ballgown and wig and make up.

If you think about this question beyond just the names of celebs who crossdress, celebs in general , engage in or exhibit many practices that are part of our crossdressing rituals. Hollywood actors remoe hair from their bodies, shape eyebrows, have cosmetic surgery, wear makeup, wear women' clothes in their roles, get manicures, color their hair, pierce their ears, wear jewelry etc.

Marv Albert, top notch sportscaster; I grew up listening to him broadcast Knicks games on the radio. Now he does national level stuff on the major networks, and I think his kids are sportscasters too. Only time will tell if they follow in their dad's 'heels'.

I can forgive you, Rachael, for being what I hope was facetious.

John Wayne's real name was Marion Morrison - don't know anywhere he is referred to as Marian. Marion as a boy's name was already falling out of favor when he began his Hollywood career, thus his stage name.

I think we need to separate actors who crossdress as part of a role for film/tv/theater from those who do it for their own personal enjoyment. There's quite a few actors who dress for parts; there are very few who do it personally. Eddie Izzard is the only one I can think of who does both, but dresses less off-stage than he used to. While Johnny Depp's portrayal of Ed Wood was brilliant, I don't know anyone who has seen him en femme otherwise. Boy George was more of a "gender bender."

And as for the identity of the celebrity who is on the forum? Why is it our business? They have as much right to their privacy as any of us do here. We expect discretion-so should they.

I've been thinking the same thing throughout this thread. CDing for a role doesn't make one a crossdresser. Getting paid to crossdress is more about female impersonation in most cases. What about Dennis Rodman? Was he just trying to be shocking? Remember when Phil Donahue wore a few female garments on his show? That was all about increasing ratings, nothing more.

Good point. You are exactly right, I was a little off on that one. However I have to ask, how far does the apple fall from the tree?? (If you know what I mean.)

I wonder if some of these celebs get a taste of femininity and like it enough to come back after work. Case in point - John Travolta. Plays the part of Edna Turnblat in Hairspray and then comes out later as a cross dresser in his private life. Just sayin' those who knock it haven't tried it.
