I wanted to get perspective on a topic I've been wondering about:

Why do a lot of TGirls like high heels? I know I do. But is that because it gives off the feminine sexual cues that girls are supposed to have? I mean real girls always seem to complain about high heels. Is it sort of a secret pleasure to enjoy something most real girls complain about wearing?

They lift up your butt for one thing. Something to flirt with even if done unconsciously. ;):)

Not all GGs complain about heels; some of them prefer them for some of the same reasons I do. They do amazing things for the look of your legs that make any discomfort in your feet worth putting up with. And I suggest that if you tried to come up with an icon that suggests "Sexy Woman," you'd be hard pressed to come up with something that says that better than the image of a pump with a sky-high heel. They're timeless. The last thing I do when I dress up is slip into my shoes; every time, they make me feel like the transformation is official.

For me they make the legs look longer and slimmer, which makes it worth the pain!

It's just part of the crosdressing experience mostly. Heels are a fetish with some of course.

I like how a nice pair of heels can change posture & movement. The right heels can be a great finish to a nice outfit, & some heels are just damn sexy:heehee:

I think it's symbolic, mostly; there is no more iconic image that screams "sexy" and "feminine" than a high spiky heel. It's one item that anyone seeking to project a masculine identity wouldn't touch with a 10-meter pole, so wearing them really declares that you have abandoned any pretense of being seen as a man's man.

Like other clothing items, women's shoes also come in a dazzling variety of styles, colors and trim that make them a lot more interesting as wearable sculpture than the paltry and dull selection in the men's shoe aisle. And of course, there's the visual and physical effect from elevating your heels and stretching out the length of your legs, but most of us, to be honest, don't really benefit in our feminine presentation from looking taller per se.

They make your legs look longer, and make your posture more feminine. The click sound of high heels on an un-carpeted floor is also very erotic.....

So, I had heard that high heels were invented in the 17th century by the French for their cavalry to wear so their riders could grip the stirrups more easily. I've heard other explanations for their creation, but this one makes the most sense to me.

I wear heels, not for riding horses, but because it helps with my feminine gait. Lately, though, I've been favoring flats because I am 6' tall. Heels are only for special occasions.

High heels change the way you walk, change the appearance of your legs, are the ultimate expression of femininity. That's why we love them.
Women may complain about them, but if they are so bad then why do women love to wear them?? Just look around and take note of how many women are in heels any given day.
Yes, they are restrictive (you can't run very fast), yes they hurt your feet after a few hours, yes they may pinch your toes....but nothing is sexier than a woman in a pair of heels and a short skirt....

I totally agree with all of you on the sexyness of wearing high heels. I know my ears are conditioned to look in direction of high heels because one can't mistake the noise they make. I wear them most of the time and find almost all men want to see what's coming in their direction. As for walking, if your good at walking in heels, they really help with a lot of issues. They slow your walk down, help you not lean forward (like most men walk), make your ass look better, slim your legs, sound great, and best of all make me feel like a 1,000,000 buck. They go with jeans, skirts, and dresses. I've had women say "I wish I could walk as good as you do in heels" LOVE THE DARN THINGS

I love high heels. They make any outfit look nicer. High heels also serve as a good defensive weapon. A narrow heel to the in step or actually used as a hand weapon.

I really do love my high heels. The only thing I don't like is the fact the balls of my feet start hurting. I don't mind the pain for the look it gives me but just wish I could stop the pain in the balls of my feet. I t hurts but I guess that is why I have over 75 pair of heels ranging from 3 inches to 6 3/4 inch. Never plan on giving them up though

With heels for me it's 4" or nothing... although I do have a pair of 3" heels but all the rest are either pumps or platforms... The pumps I just love as it's the click clack that is unmistakeable female... get the tone right and it really makes the presentation. I must admit it took a while to find the right size and fit, but I'm up to about 6 hours in heels. Yes, it gets to be a pain after a while, but that's what fashion is all about right???

I mean real girls always seem to complain about high heels. Is it sort of a secret pleasure to enjoy something most real girls complain about wearing?

The GG's I've been with that don't complain about the pain of wearing heels, are often simply not saying a word about it, and suffer in silence because they enjoy the beauty of the shoes. But after a long time on their feet, after they come home every single one of them wanted me to rub their tired, sore feet.....and were quite appreciative in return.

I think most of us wear them because they help us define ourselves as female for the time we're dressed. Fortunately, nearly all of my girl clothes aren't formal dresses, but more of teen casual wear, so I usually wear white sneakers, flats or penny loafers w/white socks.

Just love wearing large heels, the look, walking in them and they give a better shape to my legs. Flats to me, although I wear them when they suit what I have on, just dont come close for style or feel.

From a practical viewpoint high heels are a bit of a bind.
Walking in them properly does help you conciously with deportment.
Back straight walk properly etc. They do add an air of elegance to a cocktail/evening wear.
Wearing them for a long time is arduous and I like to have a lower pair I can change into as the evening wears on.
Usually wear low heels and boots in the daytime tho.

Truthfully heels are as feminine as it gets. No other part of clothing is as exclusive as pumps or just plain heels. Woman do wear them despite discomfort, and mind you NOT ALL HEELS are uncomfortable, it is a myth!!!!!! Good well fitting heels will be comfortable but said that they do put a foot at a different pressure dynamics and so cause fatigue after a while.

Women wear heels because they extenuate their legs making them thinner and longer, and also whole silhouette of the body becomes thinner and more desirable.

CDs wear heels because they extenuate their legs making them thinner and longer, and also whole silhouette of the body becomes thinner and more desirable......................but also because they are woman's exclusive wear :)

And so heels carry an undertone of sexual connotation, just look at all the mans magazines, butt naked girls and what?! heels on their feet in bed, what do they need those heels for, believe me they would kick them off in a second were this in their own bedroom, but yes, heels are a modern male aphrodisiac, lol

Heels are the stereotypical or idealized feminine article of clothing, like a dress as opposed to pants. I think we crossdressers tend to aim for the ideal and not the typical when we dress, at least early on in our careers. I was certainly that way. Dress and heels only. As I have opened to my wife and moved on, I like skirts, flats, sandals, etc..

A couple of years ago I had to go to london for an irs investigation! The outcome was (thankfully) to my advantage. Decided to treat myself to a trip to a c-d store on the way home. Took all my courage in both hands, never been in such a place before. What a nice place to be, staff all helpful, bought several bits, wanted a pair of "heels" 4" at home very wobbly, was talked into 6" platforms, what an improvement! now I can walk+ dance without risking broken ankles, Thanks to the good folks at Doreens!

I don't know!

My wife hates them and has always worn flats or low heels. I just love the feeling of wearing them and walking in them... but then I don't wear them day in day out... and it is a skill to walk in anything over 2"... Try not doing it for 3 months! LOL

They look sexy on girls who can walk in them.... so there is a 'received' issue that heels are sexy... They are also at the opposite end of the spectrum for men... Things that men can't do by current society's standards. These also include:

Wear stilettos
Wear a dress
Wear a skirt
Have demonstrable 'boobage'
Shave body hair (this one is changing)
Wear a wig
etc...

CD's will always gravitate to what is the most extreme... UNTIL... they realise what is going on, and then it changes.. and we get all philosophical...

I like heels, they just 'feel right'. But I am only doing 4" at max! I am happy with that... I am also OK with lower heels which are more comfortable...

Heels symbolise the opportunities that women have to express themselves and men do not have this... so it is an obvious area to explore?

All of the above and one more thing. High heels show less of the foot, so those of us wearing size 10-12 womens shoes seem to have smaller feet than we actually have. This is one of the things that's fun about wearing heels and long pants, no one can see anything but that cute little red toenail peeping out from under the cuff and through the end of your shoe.

My wife doesn't and won't wear heels. She used to when she was younger, but only a couple inches high. She complains about foot pain and problems. I can understand that and it doesn't bother me. She looks just fine without them.

It does tend to limit me though because she seems uncomfortable when I mention buying some for myself. Of course she has a point since I'm just dressing around the house and no GG would be wearing heels while watching TV or surfing the Internet.

I love high heels. Last month My un-approving SO sneaked into my outdoor storage shed and removed most of my heels from a beat up and broken plastic storage tote and placed them in a brand new one. But now she denies ever doing that. She had to handle 10 pair to transfer them over. Go figure. Now she wants me to get rid of about half of my dresses. I don't want to--but--I enjoy shopping for more. Size 10 and a few size 8.

Honestly, I wear flats, or men shoes in my normal 9-5 (which is 730-5) so when I dress I only wear heels. To be truthful, my feet feel better in heels. I have a natural high arch and have no problem wearing higher heights. My wife is jealous I have so much ease walking in heels, but it just feels natural. Plus, I grew up around them, my mother wore them, my sister, so I just took a liking to them when I first tried them, learned from 3 inch heels as 13 years old, now 40, you give me any height, I can wear them and walk more woman like than most woman. It is just natural to me.

I'll go along with the varied reasons cited by others: Lift the butt, longer leg look, enforced posture, finishing touch of femininity, the sound. However, I'll stick with the mid-height heels and a slightly thicker heel (even a wedge). None of those five-inch spikes for me. I don't know how GGs walk and even dance in them. For me, they would be a difficult to explain sprained ankle.

When we change to our "other" gender, we need to downplay as many of our male characteristics as possible, and I believe this is not only for external consumption (passing) but for the internal feeling of the constant feedback that we have changed gender. We become masters at illusion, external and internal.

I spent last week in a hotel room. Outside the room I was in male professional mode. Inside that hotel room I was Tina. Every time I walked into the room the first thing I did to address the (initially) symbolic change was to slip out of my male shoes and into 5.5 in heels. Why? Really high heels change the way the body moves (well, unless you want to end up in the hospital in traction!). The feedback is TINA in big bold letters.

So, not only do heels represent a large feminine "signal", but they force the body to send out feminine signals of movement (again, both internally and externally).

Lastly, as a side benefit I have found that they force my back to allign in a way that no other shoe can, and since Tina has arrived I've not had a single episode of back pain!!! I used to be laid up for a week at a time with my back "going out" every couple of years. Thus, I have a couple pairs of heels that I wear every morning just to keep my back in shape!

For me, heels are here to stay!

Real girls often DON'T complain much about their high heels. Some foot pain and discomfort comes with the territory. But for instance, several of the ladies my wife works with belong to a shoe club where they pay something like 40 bucks a month, and get a new pair of shoes every month. And they wear the heels, baby! One of my own clients is literally addicted to high heels. She can't get enough of them.

How many pairs of shoes did Imelda Marcos own? Something like 400?

I own around 10 pairs myself. (I know.....small-timer.) And I love them, too! It's no mystery to me why women love them so much. Sometimes I can't wait to put them on. There's nothing else like them.

When styling, I start with the Heels and work the remaining part of the outfit around the shoe. Without a sexy shoe, we have nothing. And for all the other reasons listed above. I do agree that heels are completely feminine, but to me nothing is more feminine than a bra. After all, they are the one article of women's clothes that have no counterpart among men's clothes. :Peace:
(What about tee-shirts, you argue? Their counterpart is the camisole, a covering undergarment, not an item providing support.)

They look sexy on girls who can walk in them....

This made me laugh, Kaz. Go to the casinos near my home on any Friday or Saturday night and you will see dozens of gals in their 20s wearing LBDs and heels. Some of them walk just fine, some can even do the sexy strut, but there are always those who look like they're novices ready to topple over at any second.

Heels are often seen as being indisputably feminine and many men feel they bring about a great sense of beauty and femininity in a woman. Many CD's and T-girls often like to wear heels to emulate this

Girls love heels as much as crossdressers do. However, the difference is since they are actual women, they probably wear heels more commonly than us. I love wearing heels as well, but if you spend an entire night at a party or dance club, all you will be able to think about is how much you want to take the shoes off

I absolutely love high heels. They are my favorite piece of women's wear. I particularly like stiletto heeled sandals. I have several pairs with 7 inch heels which are extremely difficult to walk properly in although I have worn them out on occassion. Mostly, I stick with 5 to 6 inch stilettos. I have also worn platforms with 6 to 9 inch heels. I don't own any pumps as I don't prefer that style. I like to polish my toenails and I prefer bare legs.

Heels change our posture causing us to thrust our chests and rears out due to them forcing our pelvis to pivot forward. Look at yourself in the mirror the next time you have them on. The higher the heel, the more noticeable it is. The heels also change your gait to a more feminine one. And, as another member posted earlier, heels are great for toning your leg muscles especially your calf muscles. So, who needs to do leg exercises? Wearing heels is much more fun.

Maria in heels
09-02-2012, 05:11 AM
Karli....I know that I wear and love my high heels because its Maria's favorite piece of clothing. She can find that dress, but then the heels that match...hmmmm takes quite a while to try on the 4 to 5 pairs to get that right look for the mood that she is in. Walking in heels takes some practice, and I have read thru the years that many woman complain, and yet we cannot understand why. I know that it can be a scary thing to do, but try to find a pair of jeans that are flared and long, and put on a pair of heels and just walk around the block - it it a totally different experience than just walking around the house on wood floors or carpet. Concrete is so unforgiving and hard, its actually amazing how quickly your calf muscles can start to hurt.

I have been wearing heels for years, including stiletto boots, so for me, all I can say is that practice makes us perfect...my wife is still amazed after all these years, because she is an "office girl" wearer of heels, which again, is totally different than walking outside for everyday movement

I can tell a lot of girls love their heels!

So let me ask, what's your favorite style?

And what styles do you use for which occasions?

My personal favorites are my black patent pumps by Ivanka Trump! I get excited anytime I wear them! I was inspired by a girl at work. I couldn't stop staring at her heels and knew I had to get a pair just like them!

I don't get to dress everyday or even every week for that matter so I need to go all the way when I do. So on the days I can dress I won't be wearing any flats, snow boots or tennis shoes. Those heels give me the true feeling of being 100% female.

I enjoy wearing heels, because you walk elegant and feminine. My legs looks slim, nice and long.

... and it's nice to have plenty of them. It's one of the most feminine things to look and buy them while an extensive shopping trip.

It definitely takes awhile to get good at walking in 5" heels but there is NO feeling like it. When you first get them, wear them at home as much as possible. I'm not kidding, I mean ALL the time. Force yourself to wear them even when your feet hurt and you want to take them off. Then, you'll eventually get good at walking in them and will feel like it's natural. No pain - no gain.

Quick question:

What occasions do you wear stockings/hose with heels? Is it appropriate to wear stockings with high heel sandals? Or is it bare legs only? Also, how do you feel about bare legs with high heel pumps?

Guess I'm one of the "odd girls out" here. Sure they're sexy, and make a gal's legs look great. I have three pairs of mid-heel pumps, but I've never worn them out of the house. Here in this part of Florida most women wear sandals, sneak's or flats most of the time. For now, I'll just try to fit in with the rest of ladies.

Besides, my wife is self-conscious about her short height, and I'd feel funny being out with her to dinner acccentuating our height difference. (No, she does not like to wear heels, even tho they would make her look taller.)

I love to wear high heels and I have always been able to walk in them since I started around age 12. I do have to admit that a lot of me dressing time I am sitting at my desk working, not up walking around. As I just posted in another thread, I do try and walk around the house and do chores at home to help condition my leg muscles. If I am doing a lot of standing (like cooking) I have to say my muscles get sore after a while and it does feel good to step out of the shoes and rest. Seems like if I am moving (walking) they don't feel as sore. I also like to practice walking up and down my stairs and also also even running and dancing in heels. I love to walk in front of my full length mirror and see the fem presentation that I see!

I love heels. I can't get enough of them and never will. I love the feel, the sound, the different styles...you name it. I agree that all heels are not made the same and some are very comfortable. When you get the right size and wear them on a regular basis they aren't very painful at all.

I think one of the reasons GG's have a hard time with them is the sizing. Lately I have noticed, along with bras, they have no clue as to their right size and they could try them on without the fears that some of us closeted dressers have. Not all GG's mind you, but there are quite a bit out there.

I have a friend who went to some VIP thing and had to buy heels for the first time in her life, she's 24, how sad is that? They were 3" peep toed and very cute but all she did was complain about them hurting her feet. I told her had she worn hose with them they may have been more comfortable and had she bought the right size even more so as she had a lot of play in the back of the heel.

Because they are high heels!

Partly symbolic, high heels are exclusive to women and we all associate them with attraction, who doesn't want to be attractive. Also they feel great, sound great and look great. Shame they turn me into a giant!

Many people who have heard about Debbie but have not met her are often shocked when they do. As Rex, when I wore flats, men's shoes, I put most of the weight on my heels, slouched, and both feet pointed out. Add to that, severe curvature of the spine exaggerated by the slouch, resulted in a "Duck Walk" which could make people who didn't know me laugh. Many people thought I was a clown, or just putting them on.

But then they meet Debbie. In heels, the weight is on the balls of her feet, her posture is much straighter, her toes point almost forward, the feet look smaller. The heels make the legs look longer, firmer, more toned, and the butt is tighter. The walk is graceful and even a bit sexy. Not quite a model's catwalk, but very clean and proper. The curvature is less obvious with a skirt, and the bra and breast forms tend to make the stomach look better, the curves even look more sexy. When I want, I can take control of the room, cause people to stop and stare, and then have everyone up and dancing, having a good time, and feeling good about themselves - because I'm 100% responsible for making others feel comfortable with who I am. Some girls tell me they won't date Debbie or Rex because they can't accept that I have better legs than they do (not so true now that I'm older).

These days, even as Rex, I tend to wear shoes with chunky heels of 1" to 2" - to get that posture, walk, gracefulness. The one "flat" I do enjoy is my Sketchers, which let me have the benefit of athletic shoes AND the benefits of heels. Lower heels are very hard on my knees when I try to walk with my feet forward, they are also very hard on my back, because I tend to slouch more.

High heels are my biggest weakness, and open toe make my knees weak. I see women in a pretty pair and I want them. I have about ten pair, so I'm still a newbie. I love 4 to 5 inches best, but have lower ones to "blend" in.

They make me feel like a woman, not just a guy in drag. I have no problem walking in them. I've recently been video taping my walk trying to feminize it more by arm placement an movement. I'm really beginning to get my hips to move better after watching myself.

Got to love those heels!

I love heels for all the reasons discussed -- their sexy image, the wonderful sound as you walk, their affect on posture and apppearance. But I see a need for some compromises. Four inch or more heels would kill me if I walked at length in them, and at 5' 10" I don't want that much height. On one of my rare ventures out in a city, I wore flats (no heels at all!) for safety and comfort. But I guess I lost the posture and curves. What's a good middle ground? 2 inch? 3?

So, I had heard that high heels were invented in the 17th century by the French for their cavalry to wear so their riders could grip the stirrups more easily. I've heard other explanations for their creation, but this one makes the most sense to me.

I wear heels, not for riding horses, but because it helps with my feminine gait. Lately, though, I've been favoring flats because I am 6' tall. Heels are only for special occasions.

I must admit, I've developed quite a fondness for flat strappy sandals. I'm 5'10 and my preference used to be wearing 7"-8" stripper heels, which extended my height to around 6'6''. Not so much into wearing them anymore, but I still don't want to get rid of them. I still wear them on "special occasions" too. Maybe they'll make an appearance this Halloween.

I love high heels. They are very feminine. I think it is because along with skirts/dresses they are about as far away from mens clothing as you can get. They sound fantastic on concrete or wooden floors too. They also give a feminine posture and vunerability. They can really complete an outfit. A gorgeous black dress would not look right with a pair of flats.

OK. Since my last post in this thread I moved to a new house and ordered some 5-inch heels, after saying that I was happy with 2-in shoes. The first two weeks I was here I had no trouble going up and down stairs. With the heels on I was being really careful not to turn an ankle going down the stairs. Forgot I was five inches taller and thunked my head on the overhang.Ouch! Next time I'll duck.

They do amazing things for the look of your legs that make any discomfort in your feet worth putting up with. The last thing I do when I dress up feminine is to slip into my heels; every time, they make me feel like the transformation is official. I do like how a nice pair of heels can change posture and your movements. The right heels can be a great finish to a nice outfit, and some heels are just damn sexy. Heels like many other feminine items do come in a dazzling variety of styles, colors and trim that make them a lot more interesting as wearable sculpture than the paltry and dull selection in the men shoe aisle. And of course, there's the visual and physical effect from elevating your heels and stretching out the length of your legs. High heels do change the way you walk, change the appearance of your legs, are the ultimate expression of femininity and that is why we love them. Is it sort of a secret pleasure to enjoy something most real girls complain about wearing, but for all the right reasons?

Quick question:

What occasions do you wear stockings/hose with heels? Is it appropriate to wear stockings with high heel sandals? Or is it bare legs only? Also, how do you feel about bare legs with high heel pumps?

I like to wear stockings with heels for a couple of reasons. First, to me hosiery is also very sexy, so they go together well. Secondly, they make your feet slippery. Heels can stick to your feet without them so they're more comfortable when wearing stockings. (To me at least.) I do admit that today with the fashions leaning toward bare legs, I don't wear nylons with high heeled sandals. Everything else, absolutely!

I like the appeal, but most importantly, I love walking in a store or on the side walk and everyone hearing that unmistakable pop of your heel hitting the ground. I love the sound and just the power that it has. It really makes you seem important because it grabs everyones attention or they will atleast hear it.

I do, also, so love heels. I stay with 4" and under, but they are such a "finish" to my feminine look and feel. They are the ultimate "non-male" statement to any outfit. Jeans with heels? Love it! With a dress or skirt? Just adore that. They also, after some years of wearing, have helped me walk more feminine....one step in front of the other, with a shorter stroke, and why not enjoy the time in my heels.....I'm not wearing them to "rush in and rush out" of a mall, or wherever. I want to enjoy every "click" as I go.....

Actually many of the girls wear high heels as a matter of sex appeal. Even i do. In the beginning it seems less comfortable. But if you use it for a while then your hips get curved and looks sexy. Your body gets adjusted to it. Now without pop ups i cannot walk. My feet is adjusted to high heels. I love the pop up it gives to my back. I feel so proud when i am on my pin point high heels. Love it.

No one can deny that nice heels make your legs and feet look very feminine. It is essential for me to look the part. Yes I do have flats but don't really like them much. But then if GG's didn't love them too why do they have hundreds of them in their closets? I really love the strappy kind with 4" heels. I usually wear hose because they make them more comfortable. The more delicate they look the better I like them.

I feel like I'm the odd one out. I love heels because they look cute and sexy but after walking in them for an hour and a half at the store, my feet were killing me (well combined with having ugly "flat" feet it made for a pretty painful time). So I can empathize with the way some GG's feel about them. Despite all that pain I endured I will still continue to buy heels till the day I die because I too can't get enough of them!
