Does anybody know of a good facebook group or two for cd/trans people? The only active one's I've found seem to be more about hook-ups and porn. I'm looking more for a community.

While I'm at it, I've been looking for more cd/trans friends on facebook feel free to add me http://www.facebook.com/olivia.winters.792

I have tried to search but almost everything I've found is either region specific(generally non-english speaking regions) or has very few members

while I do enjoy the forum here, facebook is just another very different way of communication with other crossdressers/transgendered folks.

Facebook is too viral for me. Getting requests or notifications that someone I've never heard of who's a friend of a friend wants to be my friend seems to be laying yourself open to being the target of an internet troll, those who whatever sad pleasure it gives them, hurl abuse at folk because, well pick a reason.
Here in this community you have control. Out there in Facebook land you're at the mercy of a server churning data.
Given that from your number of posts you're fairly new here I would suggest you give it time and grow your circle of contacts as you wish, not randomly as it seems to be on social networking sites.

I'm not abandoning this community is the thing, I think it's great. I'm just looking to branch out a bit is all.

I'm actually not on FB as Josie but my male self is. I sorta see FB as a "necessary evil" to keep in touch with friends and family but I don't want to create a hole new account as Josie. My male self has friended a few of you on FB though.

You can also find me (Josie) on Google+

I am a member of the Transgender Day Of Remembrance group on Facebook. It is for announcement and discussion of TDOR events world-wide (November 20th each year), and for recording trans-related deaths.

Not a "fun" group, but it too is a form of "community".

I'm on facebook as my male self and if I went on as my femself others would know about me things I'm not ready for them to know. Does that make since.

Hi Olivia. As nice as it may seem you have to ask if you're ok with being outed. It's out of your control on Facebook. I was outed on there and although I tried to deny it I think a few people know now. I'm not sure and I'm afraid to ask. So I just wanted to give you some warning. It's a big decision and there could be big consequences.

I'm on facebook as my male self, and as Katie. Caution is needed when setting up a CD facebook account as Kimberlyfaye has said. Make sure you have nothing linking your 2 accounts. For example, make sure your CD email address doesn't have your real surname in it! A mistake i made with my first fb account for Katie, it's scary to see your female self suggested as a friend for your male self.
There is always a risk of being outed so you have to be ready for the consequences should it happen.
