I ask myself this a lot. People on the crossdressers forum have spoken a lot about the "thrill" or excitement of getting dressed up. Thrill isn't the word I would use. When I come home and am going to bed I often put on a bra, modest panties and some comfy pajamas. I don't put them on as a costume. I put them on to feel somewhat comfortable. Not that the clothes are more comfortable but when I dress like that I feel like me. Even though I wear men's clothing more frequently I cant help but feel that they are the costume.

Suit and tie. Jeans and a T shirt. Pink tutu. Army uniform. They are all costumes.

I never had this 'which one is the costume' thing - until I started hanging round the house in 'comfortable' women's clothes whenever I could. Since that started, I've had to think about which mode I'm supposed to be in when I change clothes.

I'm not saying anyone who saw me would be in any doubt btw. It's an internal thing, like 'remind me who I'm supposed to be again?'

I really feel at home in women's clothing. the past couple of days I spent out on a consulting trip and unfortunately had to be en drab the whole time. My male clothes feel like a costume I wear to pass as male.

I choose the career I did partly in order to avoid having to wear ties.

Who the heck wears a bra to bed. I wear bras every day and the last thing I want to do is to wear it to bed. The moment I walk into the door, I rip that bra off in less than a second. Bras in bed would be very uncomfortable. But hey whatever floats your boat.

I wore a tie once... when dressing up in the mirror at home preparing for job interviews. It felt like a noose so I never wore it. I took a picture to remember the horrible feeling!

Who the heck wears a bra to bed.

My wife does, on occasion. Sometimes in the winter, I have suspected that it is partly to prevent me from... urrr, warming my hands.

My reading over the years has indicated that wearing a bra to bed is advised for the sufficiently endowed (oh, and possibly also for a time after implant surgery.)

Who the heck wears a bra to bed.

I used to, to get over my not-having-boobs dysphoria. It didn't work. :)

Clothing becomes a costume when an individual sets out to influence in altering their appearance to provoke some sort of response from the audience. I suppose nearly all the clothing falls under this category except when one puts on a drab, weather male or female designation, drab is just clothing covering the private parts.
Wearing bra or any clothing which in turn provokes emotional content is a costume, putting on drab night ware isn't!!!

So yes, YOU ARE WEARING A COSTUME, but depending on the essence of what is behind such act you may be a fetishistic wearer or NOT!

Aren't all clothes really costumes??
We were born naked, so whatever is added is for show.

Around here, summer temperatures peak around +35C (95F), and winter temperatures dip to around -35C (-31F), which is a range of over 120F. The choice of which clothes to wear might be part of a costume, but the use of some kind of clothes is fundamental protection from the elements.

By the way, Oprha's site (http://www.oprah.com/blogs/Sleeping-In-A-Bra-Worth-It-or-Not-Worth-It) gives the okay to wearing a bra to bed.

Yeah, I think she has some sort of fetishistic attraction to them. Quite scary how much she LOVES them!

(sometimes I have to spell it out... that was sarcasm... just in case ;) )

I had never heard of women wearing a bra to bed until a few months ago when my SO and I were at Victoria's Secret. The SA made some comment to my SO, whose boobs are nearly Ds. Curious, I jumped in and asked about it. She said pretty much what the above site says - that it's supposed to help large-breasted women from developing problems with sagging. My SO, btw, said she couldn't imagine wearing a bra to bed (without mentioning that she accepts it when I do).

In any case, it's always the person who makes the "costume" and not vice versa. :)

I refer to the bad-old-days as "Back when I was pretending to be a boy." This is the real me. THAT was the costume.
