Re-birthday. Must be our month.

I have to be the slowest transitioner ever.

So five years ago, I started growing my hair out.Doing my brows. Living the role day in and day out. This year in particular has had it's challenges, including:

Being assaulted in the summer last year . The wife and i had been out for a walk on our anniversary.

Dismissed from my job because they found out I identified as transgender. Yes I should have sued, but in the end I didnt.

My Ex spouse died in January. As a result my blended family increased to 6 2 adults and 4 children. Wow its exhausting.

After the job loss, I decided if I was going to have to put up with all the disadvantages of being TG, I had better get at least SOME of the advantages. This spring I pulled up the courage and went to talk to my family doctor. I've been a patient 20+ years. I let him know I was TG and although slightly squicked (he had had a former TG patient who ended up a fruitcake, his words) gave me a referral to a endocrinologist, and yesterday, after 6 months, i saw him and started HRT.
For the first time in 6 years, I feel like I'm making PROGRESS.

Seana, sorry to hear what you've been through ...Ontario has very strong laws against discrimination.....I thinkyou might have kept
your job, especially if you worked for the gov't in Ottawa.
You'll find the HRT will help with your emotional wellbeing!
Take care Linda

Sorry for what you have been through but the "benefit" I think you gained is not a hormone prescription but an addition to your family.

The addition to the family is precious, but tough when it comes hurting and confused. It is what it is.Deaths are always hard.

The job was just another job. In the end I didnt want to go back to a place that would do that, and wasnt willing to go through the expense of court .

It all adds up to adding stress but most importantly I'm managing and moving forward, which is a vastt improvement.

Thanks for the kind words.
