Out in public!

I have been driving as much as I can now dressed in at least a skirt. This morning I was wearing a hawian guy shirt, my black skirt that went 3-4 “ above the knees , thigh high nylons and tennis shoes. I was basically a guy in a dress mode. Then I decided to go to a gas station and fill up. It was a little early 7;00 am there and just a wide spot of off the interstate. It went smoothly and I even walked to the other side to get that thing to wash the windshield. A few cars went by and 1 pulled in as I was finishing.
Now the other part… Hmmm… Please let me know if this was a good move or not. There is an adult store behind the gas station. I decided to go in and see what happened. A young guy greeted me, briefly looked at me and went on his business. There was a guy and gal couple looking at something, they did not acknowledge me, but I am sure they seen me. I walked around about 5 minutes and then left. I figured there that they have seen it all and that there would not be any threat. This is only the 2nd time in my life that I have been in a store of this type. It really felt good to relax a bit and at least be seen by a few… probably 6-7 people total.

I dress and go out early to, it's an opportunity to get out and go public with not a lot of people out and about and it's building confidence. Good for you for taking that bold step of going into the adult store, I know you're mind is really working to go public again and take it a little further (more girly clothes). We talk with strangers on this site, read their posts and they become friends and find out we share the same thoughts, wants, desires, ain't that cool.

Good for you dear. Adult bookstores have seen everything, a CD is nothing new to them and if you looked around they probably had a fair share of CD and Transsexual porn on the shelf. The accessories are very common for men and women if you are looking for something on the trashy side. They never say a word at check out.

I would up the ante a bit though and wear a wig, makeup and forms.
It is better not to look out of the ordinary and try to blend in a little.
That is what dressing is all about.
The adult shops have seen many types of images so they don't worry.

Wig should be here anyday... just a touch of makeup maybe because I am stopping there on my way to college. No forms needed for me. I got lots already. I just wanted to get out somewhere and it was convenient. Amanda

Nice way to work up confidence. Next time, wear a pair of flats or low heels, the wig, and minimal makeup that can be wiped off, lipstick and blush. and a tank top. It is relaxing to be out and among the crowd. Cant speak for the safety of people who might be in the store, but the workers there will be cool

I had on my leggins while traveling this week and stopped and filled up at the gas station then went in and got something to drink. A few looks from the men and woman I saw but not a big deal since they could have been any kind of compression exercise pants. I went in to an adult store in full wig, heels, bright pink lip gloss and top for the first time this week to. I love the rush and I can't wait to hear about your next trip out.

If you go out as a "guy in a dress", everyone knows. You may not have a problem or you may offend someone to the point that they think it's their business to correct you. And you may run into someone you know, someone you would rather not know that you are a crossdresser.

I would be much more comfortable going out with my best presentation of being an actual female.

I do underdress in a bra and panties most of the time in public but I (and my wife) are the only ones who know.

I went back out again in my skirt, black tights, Tshirt but with a good bra this time and a jacket. I spent alot more time especially walking. I think I will wait for the wig to come in before I get out much more. I NEED to be alot more girly for going out, but most importantly for me! I stopped at another adult place on the Interstate, parked a bit far away and there were probably 10 semis and about 5 cars there. I thought there would be a bunch of people milling around inside, but there was not. I went in and the guy cashier told me about there special, buy two, one for free or something like that. I really took my time in there. I came out and got a flash of headlights from a semi. I went 15 miles or so up to the gas station again and got a can of gasoline for my tractor. I then parked a little far away and walked in to use the restroom. There were cars and people coming and going, but I paided no attention to them. I then went back to the first adult store and really spent time there, especially checking prices. I do not think I will go back to those adult places. I do not need sex toys. I will just go to the local stores(Walmart/Target type stores) to get my CD assessories. The more I am getting out the more I am thinking what is the big deal if a guy wants to wear girl clothes and maybe look like one???? I felt like crying when I took everything but my panties off and put on the guy stuff to go to campus. I wish I never had to change back but current situations do not allow it and it is more important presently than CDing. Maybe someday.... Amanda!!!

Good work, Amanda, in experimenting boldly with some public appearances. I actually think walking into a store is harder than simply walking around public areas outside, such as sidewalks and public parks, especially in large cities with lots of people milling about. By the same token, evening is better than daytime, at least for me. My hardest times in public have been, and still are, places where you are next to others, in daytime or indoor lighting.

I want to get out some more! i cannot hardly wait! Since the wig came in it opens alots more options, but my plan was to use it under a cap. Not going to work!. I am considering waiting til after dark, not too late (7:00 -8:00 pm) here and just walk on the city sidewalks under the street lights in a neighbourhood across town. I have thought about walking the small Zitzu dog we have. I do not think anyone would even bat an eye. daughter is gong out of town for a week and so are the next door neighbours. I suspect he is a CDer anyway. Amanda

Sherry, I' haven't been in an adult book store in many years, but even back then I remember seeing gaffs for one thing, cheap boobs, (plastic, fit more for Halloween but they had them.) for another.

As you have witnessed FIRST HAND by going out in public, so far everyone ACCEPTS. Exactly what I have experienced for 10 years now. WILL the time come when someone laughs or giggles right to your face or has an ugly remark? It's certainly POSSIBLE. Maybe one person out of every hundred. Or 500...or well over a thousand?

Pretty small "risk" for the obvious joy it brings you IMO. I think most ANY CDer, not wearing spiked orange hair and sporting a micro mini and 6 inch heels, strutting like one of those 6', 99 pound runway models is going to get a "free pass" from "society"...

AS long as we treat everyone with the same courtesy and respect that we ourselves desire. These very Forums are full of reports from folks who DO just that and rarely if ever have a problem. And MANY are not trying [or needing] to PASS.

The clerk asked me if I need help with anything, so i just asked where are the Cd stuff. In a section there was alot of lingerie, panties, short skirts, wigs, fake boobs, lg size high heels. I suppose the GGs would use this stuff too on a number of occasions. The other store had hardly anything of the sort.

I think this is a good idea. Taking a dog for a walk in the early evening when it's dusk and the light is fading is better because there are less people around and also the fading light obscures details ... especially if you are wearing a wig that is longish and somewhat obscures your face. I say go for it! :)
