View Full Version : The countdown to SRS.

Just like Traci Elizabeth, I too am leaving Australia in one week from now to have my SRS in Thailand with Dr. Saran at
the Piyavate Hospital. I am not at all nervous about the surgery and have complete faith in my surgeon. The only thing
I am nervous about is actually making sure I get to Bangkok without any issues such as flight delays or missing a flight.
Preparation for my trip has gone really well. I had no issues and applying for a passport where I am fully recognised as a
female. I paid for my flights and accommodation about 3 months ago to secure the best value airfares and accommodation
specials. Because I have had to use a domestic flight to get to an airport where I can fly to Thailand, my airfares have cost
a total of about $1100 AU ($1110 US). The total cost for accommodation is about $358AU ($380US) for 21 days in Bangkok.
I booked and paid for all my accommodation through http://www.agoda.com.
Also for additional peace of mind I took out a very good Travel Insurance policy that cost me a total of about $130AU ($131.30US)
to cover me for any other unforeseen issues that could occur during overseas travel. It also covers my medical expenses should
anything else happen or I get sick. Also to avoid getting sick I also decided to get vaccinated for Typhoid & Hepatitis A & B. The
Typhoid shot cost me about $50.00, and the Hepatitis A & B is costing about $270 for the complete course of 3 shots. I have an
appointment this Tuesday for another Hepatitis A & B shot and then I am safe. My psychologist wants to see me one last time
before I go, so I will see her on Wednesday and that is about it, except for packing the bags and boarding the flight.
Anyway, I will try and post some updates including photos while I am in Thailand, but they will be posted in the Safe Haven
section of these forums. Or alternatively if you are on Facebook feel free to add me for regular updates. You will find the link
to my Facebook profile below.

Have a safe trip. I know you will be in good hands there, both in and out of the hospital.
Melody, it sounds like you have all your ducks in a row so everything should go smoothly. It also sounds like you have enough things to do that the time will fly by until it's time to fly!

OMG! it's so close now, in exactly 7 days from now I will be flat out on my back legs in the air pleasantly
unconscious having SRS. I just came from my final Pre-SRS appointment with my psychologist and then
I only have one other appointment this afternoon for laser tattoo removal and that is all my appointments
before I go. Tomorrow I will do my washing and finish most of my packing. Saturday night I am going out
for the last time pre-op to celebrate with friends. Then Sunday morning I board my flight to Darwin enroute
to Thailand via Singapore. OMG, this is all about to happen, I am wondering when the reality is going to set
in because it feels like I am living a dream. Someone please pinch me, I need to make sure I am really awake.

Something tells me you will know exactly when the reality will hit you. Right about the time the anastasia wears off. :)
Melody, that is great news and I'm sure that the time will fly by! Sorry, no pinch coming from me because I don't want to interrupt your achieving your dream! :)
Hugs, Eryn.

You're gonna be fine. "Wonderful" would be a better word to describe it. Certainly life changing, dear. You will be so pleased that you won't even think about phantom penile sensations.
Whoopie, dear. You are gonna be SO happy.

So she has to wake up to the fact that she isn't really a Russian princess? Sorry to hear that, Melody, but I hope everything else goes great!
(Jorja, I let most typos go by, but I found that one too funny to resist. Please accept my apologies if I went over the line.)

Oh so that is your excuse and you are sticking to it yeah? I really wondered what
Anatasia had to do with it, but then I just put it down to the drugs you must be on. :heehee:
Only joking. Anyway, it is now less than 2 days before I fly out 1 Day, 23 Hours to be
more precise. No I am not really counting down the hour and minutes, but I can see
how long until my flight departure on my airline's webpage under 'My Bookings'. So it
is a handy tool for clock watchers.
All my friends keep asking me "Am I nervous, am I experiencing any sort of anxiety yet?"
Honestly I have to say no. I am predominately at ease about everything, but just anxious
enough to keep me fully aware and alert of what I now need to do in the coming days to
get to Thailand. I have kept myself busy, but also relaxed by making sure I get plenty of
sleep which also helps to pass the time quicker. However it took me about 30 minutes to
get to sleep last night because I had a lot going through my head. There was one or two
thoughts about my SRS, but I think most of that was because I also got the news that a trans
woman I know from Oxford in the UK, Dawn Skinner (https://www.facebook.com/dawn.skinner.7) has passed away. So that kept me awake.
You have inspired and helped so many, so you will be missed by many. R.I.P. Dawn ♥

Thanks Kristy, I am headed out tonight in about 7 hours from now to celebrate
my last night pre-op here with friends. I board my flight in 21 Hours, 46 Minutes
from now LOL. Anyway, I also spoke with Traci Elizabeth last night who boards her
flights in about 6 hours from now. Traci experienced a bit of anxiety a few days ago
but is OK now. We were talking about how great it is going to be to have two carers
that are also best friends. So we are looking forward to having a good time and doing
some shopping and sightseeing after we are able to start to get out and about without
any issues.
Will keep you posted on how everything goes. xx

Traci is somewhere over the Pacific Ocean right about now and it is less than 2 hours and I have to be at the
airport for my flight from Cairns to Darwin then on to Singapore tonight where I stay overnight before flying
into Bangkok early tomorrow morning. So this is my last update until I arrive in Thailand. Wow, I still cannot
believe this is all really happening & hope this isn't just a dream. Stay tuned will give you another update soon.

Here is the latest update - I arrived in Bangkok 12 hours ago at 9.45am. Dr. Saran's
personal assistant Ying met me at the airport, then took me to my hotel. She is very
nice and very helpful, even going out of her way to get me a pre-paid Simcard for my
mobile phone. After getting to the hotel I got online to see if I could track Traci down
on Skype because she was actually arriving in Bangkok BEFORE me, however I wasn't
getting any response. So I decided to call Traci's hotel & there was no sign of Traci. OMG!
She booked her room, but still had not arrived, and at this point she was over 12 hours
overdue, so I was really worried about her because it is not normal for someone to book
a room etc and not show up. I kept calling Traci on Skype even though she wasn't answering.
Eventually Traci sent me a message saying that she had huge problems with a US flight and as a result
the poor girl was stressed out for over 2 days, hadn't slept or showered and was still stuck in Korea!
As it turned out, there was a security problem on her US domestic flight which ended up diverted and also
lead to Traci missing her connecting international flight, and she had to pay an extra $100 just to be able
to catch another flight. The good news is she is due to arrive in Bangkok in the next 10 minutes at 10.10pm
so she should be making her final descent to land right about now! The poor damn girl has been delayed
by almost 24 hours. She was wondering before she left Korea if she should try and get some sleep on the
flight, I told her that I think she really should try and get as much sleep as she can. I told her I would wait
up and make sure she arrived OK. I also sent a message to her carer, Noi to let her know what was going on.
Traci has also had her SRS shifted back now 2 days and was a bit depressed about that, but I told her not
to be and that she could come and visit me and make fun of me and the pain I was in and she started laughing
so in the end I managed to pick up her spirits and get her feeling positive again. I had a few hiccups with my
flights along the way that stressed me out enough to the point I started to swear a few times, but nothing to
the extend that Traci went through. I so feel for her right now because there is nothing worse than worrying
about if or not you will reach your destination, but it is tenfold when going overseas for SRS is your objective.
Tonight I met with Dr. Saran for my first examination, and I am just so amazed at how genuine and caring
he really is. He made no promises about outcomes, but he said that he will do his absolute best and I have
no doubts that he will because treats you like you are a member of his own special family. Well that got the
waterworks going didn't it? Saran Clinic is very professional and very clean and tidy and also full of other
people who were there for a whole rage of issues relating to his work in cosmetic surgery. And every single
female I seen in his waiting room looks absolutely amazing. So if that is anything to go by, then I am impressed.
Tomorrow morning I have some medical check ups then it is off to do some shopping with Traci I hope before
I go into hospital tomorrow night and start my pre-op prep before surgery on Wednesday, so it's so close
now. I am really relieved to be here, so I know how Traci will be feeling about now if her flight has been on-time.
More updates coming soon.

Melody,
Thank you so much for the update! I keep thinking about you and Traci and held y'all in my prayers this weekend. I prayed for a "safe journey" but I guess I didn't include anything about the schedule nor flight delays.
Traci must have been going nuts when the delay happened. If it was me, Dr. Saran would be treating me for a heart attack! Please give her an extra hug from me, and if you can think of an extra joke, or something to make her laugh, then tell her it was from me!
Constantly thinking of y'all.
Hugs to both of you!
Persephone.

The joy's of international travel!
Give Traci a hug from me and enjoy your shopping trip girls :)
Melody, it is so nice that you and Traci have each other nearby. You each have plenty to concern you but sharing the experience lessens the burden.
I'm looking forward to your next installment. Don't forget to take lots of pictures!
