I'm in the Dayton/Cincy area. I haven't really been out in public, but I know of a few shops and stores that have been excepting. I just recently went to a Bridal store in the Dayton Area, and finally bought myself a wedding dress (A huge dream of mine, since forever). I'll share details about that in another thread though.

Well, are you looking for a support group, or are you looking for a fun outing?

There's one support group in Dayton called the Gems that's kinda dying, but a few people meet twice a month and generally go out to eat afterwards -- often at a kinda nice but kinda private-ish Chinese restaurant.

There are some bigger support groups in Cinci and Columbus.

I've been to some pretty redneck-ish places in Dayton without getting much trouble, even with some obvious CDs with low social skills. But I wouldn't really go anywhere particularly rural. Like, Springfield has a couple gay bars that are kinda dirty and questionable, and they get a lot of police harassment.

... if they are still in business.

I don't think many of those are... :)

Hmm... Celebrity moved to the south end of Dayton several years ago, then closed in 2008. And 1470 changed its name to Masque several years ago.

As far as Dayton currently,

Masque is still the big gay club. Big and expensive. The fog machines upstairs are cool. Pretty high-energy drag show. The crowd is pretty young, and it's kinda a cool place for straight kids to go, too. They'll do cool stuff sometimes like setup a bubble machine on the porch. And right in that area (like, on the same block, and mostly sharing the same parking lot) is:

Aquarius -- a medium-sized gay bar, usually has a drag show. People there are pretty cool. More drag kings here than the other big clubs. Drinks aren't bad. Has an upstairs with a tiny bar that's open on the weekends.

MJ's Cafe -- a pretty big gay bar. More low-key than Masque. Still has a drag show most weekends, but not that big a floor, and it tries to be a little classier. Seems like a lotta 30-ish or early 40s people.

Stage Door -- Gay bar with kinda an older crowd.

There's a little tiny bar called Right Corner at the corner of 3rd and Jefferson that I really liked. I mean, it's a really quiet place with some cool people to just get a drink if you don't want something really loud and ridiculous. At least it was a cool place in 2009. They had free poporn and cheap drinks and karaoke now and then.

There's a place called Century that's been around a long time. I think there's a new-ish lesbian-ish bar called Therapy. Haven't been there. There's another place I haven't been called Vex. There's just tons of gay-ness going on around Jefferson between 2nd and 3rd in Dayton :)

As far as Columbus, there are plenty places to go. Wall Street is still one of the big gay clubs in Columbus. There's a place I really like called Club Diversity. Kinda classy but not trying too hard.

There is a wonderful lingerie shop called Sheer Necessities in Reading, a suburb of Cincy, on Benson Ave. They are extremely CD friendly. Go in drab or en femme. They cater to the Bridal trade so the merchandise is somewhat pricey but beautiful. Fittings are expertly done. Explore the sale racks upstairs and the CD section in the basement.

Reading this post, has made me think... Maybe, if anyone is interested in it, We can arrange a shopping venture day. We can pick some stores to go to, and as a group, us Girls go shopping together. Just a thought.

Wendy, I Love Sheer Necessities. Look up my Introductory Post, I shared a story about my venture there. First time I have ever gone shopping for myself, and confessing to it.

Does anyone else live in columbus? I would love to meet other CDs but I'm only an underdresser so it's not like I'd be fully dressed, but I'd love to have a shopping day even though I'm broke most of the time

Columbus seems tg friendly and it sounds fun to get an outing together, but I am not sure that I have enough strength to make that leap yet personally having never been out. It is making me feel good to see others on here all in a close vicinity though!
