The professor in charge of the poetry night got back to me about reading en femme. She is 100% supportive, and, in fact, she currently has a transgender student in one of her classes this semester.

I will certainly let everyone know how it goes. I guess you never know the answer until you ask. We can build our own wall of expectations...
