Just got on the scales and I am now at 180 pounds and counting down from my high of 240. It is like I am purging but I am not and I need to buy some new clothes. I love my 32 inch waist but I wish my 42 inch chest would shrink. Kind of have the perfect v shape for a guy and look like a linebacker. The really good part is I can now move from Plus sizes that are not always very sexy and into a xl or 16-18.:)

Good for you. Keep it up. If for nothing else all the pretty clothes are more for smaller women.

Yea I have the padding. but a size 18 top and size 8-10 bottoms even with padding is a challenge.

I will be there soon too! I have gone from 263 down to 210 as of today. I plan to keep going until I have a 30 in waist or until I get down to 130. Don't fear Steph...you look great in your avatar!

How tall are you?

When I was a size 16 all the clothes selections were ugly [back in 2001]. So I decided to lose weight in 2003, when I started having prediabetic symptoms

I was a full blown type II diabetic. The doctor was wanting to put me on shots. I tried a plan I read about on the internet and went on a 500 cal a day diet for 2 months. Lost a ton of weight and the blood sugar went to normal levels (under 100). I now stay at around 1200 cal a day and no longer take any medicine at all and the blood sugar is normal. The weight had a lot to do with it. Good for you to lose the weight and avoid the complications.

I have noticed the nicer looking clothes are all much smaller than I am. Once I get down to where I want to be and can wear stuff smaller then the plus sizes it will be so much fun. I expect to be where I want to be about the time I get my next income tax return and plan to reward myself with a new wardrobe! I am pretty lucky in some ways, I am about 5'3" and although I have wide shoulders I do not think they will be a problem. I have been 130 lbs before but that was about 20 years ago. I had a 29 in waist. I will have that again.

Thats fantastic Steph. Im down 50lb and heading toward your goal of non-plus sized clothes but it gets harder.

So the chest remains a problem? Pity.

Well done losing the weight trying my hardest myself to shift the last few pounds starting to struggle to be honest my family keep giving me grief saying i look ill al the time .

Went from 21 stone 296 pounds to 14.3 ish bout 198 but as im 6ft 2" with big legs i look like a beanpole took my measurements the other day to buy new clothes and im all over the shop 40" chest 33" waist 38" hips 22" thighs explains the weight would love to drop alot of inches from my chest and put em all on my hips but cant see that happening even with little exercise i just seem to build up the muscle mass i lost due to my condition and i really really dont want to bulk out again.

And I'm 155 Lbs. and counting up due to weight loss from diabetes. You never miss your weight until you lose it due to physical malfunctions. Things looking better now though.:)

How does one exist on 500 calories a day. That sounds dangerously low. I am trying to lose weight for 2 reasons, (1) I am type 2 diabetic and it's not getting any better, and (2) I want to have a better figure and finally dress nicer. I may have to check this plan out. What's it called?

That is Great news StaphanieT, keep going.

Tens years ago I went from 240 to 135 in 18 months. (swimming, walking, biking and only friuts & veggies) Everyone thought I was sick, AIDs, cancer, what ever, at first. I thought I looked great and was able to stay there. My 44 inch chest went down to 38" even my shoe size dropped from a womens 12 to 11. Much cooler shoes and great outfits even jewerly fit better. An aciedent took me off my excerise and diet, or lack of diet, for over a year, then I lost focus, discovered wine and I shot back up to 190. Still under my peak weight so thought it was OK. Got caught up believing I looked good for a middle age guy, slimmer than most, so I do. But, Algoma is not looking so hot, size does make a differnece, less wieght is more femmine and much easier go get the hourglass figure. Final got my focus back this last month, started my old routine again, -5lbs, Giving up wine is the hardest. I remember the slooooow start than all of a sudden everything just kicks in and the pounds drop off. Hopping for the same this time. Shootting for 160 by "First Event". Wish me luck, Algoma,

Hi Stephanie! You're correct in not wanting to get to 130 pounds. I was 6 foot 1 and about 138 pounds. I look emaciated, sickly. I ate like a horse and could not gain weight. Finally in college I took swimming and went to 170 pounds. My military weight was 175 pounds. I wore a 38 Tall. Now, I am six foot even and 193 pounds and hopefully will be able to get to 180 pounds. I was diagnosed as a diabetic. With diet and exercise I am now down to an acceptable/targeted fasting glucose reading, even dipping under 100. Diet and exercise, portion control, ditch the sugary drinks.

As to the available clothing, I have a 42 chest and 38 inch waist. I am able to find a lot of pretty dresses in the XL and 18/20 size range. The height is a challenge with so few dresses for tall ladies. I wear empire waists, wraps and sheaths which do an excellent job of creating the illusion of a nice feminine figure.

Keep up the good work. You look really attractive.

I am 6' 1". 130 lbs is not possible. And Size 16 can be very sexy now.

It IS dangerously low.

As a diabetic, any changes in diet you take should be watched by a doctor/specialist. Please make an appointment with your doctor to discuss how to lose the weight you want a healthy way.

I lost 40 pounds (and kept it off for several years) by taking it slowly, making sure I was watching my portion controls, eating a variety of fruits and vegetables, lean protein, high fibre foods. I still drank wine occasionally and I still worked a little bit of chocolate into every day of my (approximately) 1200 calories a day.

I'm not going to lie, a bit more weight than I would like has creeped back on, and I am starting working to get it off again. I am NOT going to have 500 calorie days, ever. As a short GG, my caloric burn is a lot smaller than that of an average sized GM to start - around 1900 calories vs. 2500 calories. No matter how big a person you are, though, it is not good to eat only 20% of what your body needs as fuel and expect your body to come up with the rest.

I think you might find its called THE STARVATION DIET, it is not recommended that ANYONE cuts their daily calorific intake to this level. There are plenty of diet programmes available, but the best advice you can be given is

GET YOUR HEALTH CHECKED PROPERLY BY A QUALIFIED PERSON
