My SO suggested we go to our local support group meeting (Manchester concord) next week. They meet every Wednesday about a mile from our home. To say I'm excited is an understatement as I've never been to a meeting before but I'm also very nervous.

Just though I'd share.

A first time for everything makes anyone nervous. It's a natural reaction to change. Just dress, go, and have a great night out with your wife! You'll be glad you did :)

It's kind of like speaking before a group Hon. The anxiety is over rated, especially among folks of like disposition. I know you will enjoy it.:)

I'll be underdressed to go as they have a changing room. Whether I chicken out when we get there is another matter.

I recently joined a group in my area too. I just went to my second meeting last weekend. The first meeting I was so nervous I was shaking. By the end of it I was having a great time and didn't want it to end. Now I just can't wait for the monthly meetings! It is so wonderful to be in a room full of people who actually understand and give emotional support.
Go ahead and dress up!! Don't chicken out. It will be so much fun!! I guarantee if you don't get all dressed up you will wish you had later!

Hi Jennifer, please let me know what it's like, I'm a northern lass myself, work in the city centre and was told about concord a couple of weeks ago. Have a great time!

That's the way I feel about the get together here in Michigan tomorrow! This will be my first time dressed around others like me, not to mention in public. Will I sleep tonight?

You will love it and have fun once there. Great SO for being so supportative.

Jennifer, the first time for anything is always the most nervous situation. You have a wonderful SO with you, so there is no reason to not change in the dressing room and go out with her. Just watch her, and you will have a ball.

Thanks for all the support girls, much appreciated. I can't leave the house dressed due to nosey neighbours but will take a bag of clothes. My SO will be with me so I probably will join in, have to see next week.

With a supporting wife, that is going with you, it should be a great evening for you, have fun, and enjoy the nerves, it's part of the experience.

I'm not really (yet) a CD, and I simply cannot fathom the support some of you guys/gals get from your wifes and girlfriends. I really mean no offense here, but sometimes I'm having a hard time believing their all true.

Now granted I havent had that many girlfriends in my life, but all of them would almost freak out if I wore anything other than your "regular" shoes and clothes. I tried Doc Martens with one gf, but she suggested a lower pair because they 14-holes I had were "too tall and feminine"...of course, they were your regular mens Doc's...

I do envy you...

Eddie its a big old world out there with all kinds of people, stick around here and learn and you can be just like the rest of us.LOL
My GF is very supportive BTW.
I'm as real as rain as are all the others here. Its just that you need to break out of the so called normal zone.If you like the Doc Martins wear them if she thinks they are too femme thats her problem.

@Eddie. I do understand your scepticism, I'm 43 and its taken me this long to find a supportive SO including a failed marriage. There really are lots of wonderful GG's out there, a fair few of which frequent this forum.

Well I did it and what a wonderful time we had. Met some amazing ladies that made me feel so comfortable it must have been all of 10 mins before I went and got changed. There was a singer on whom was amazing too.

I'm still on cloud 9, can't stop thinking about it. Just ordered my dress for Halloween too, so excited.

Really jealous, can they move these meetings London way? :daydreaming:
Look forward to hearing your update after the meeting.
